i live in Shetland and we get A LOT of tourists every year from all over the world! It really is beautiful here

@@lil-g4879 I live in Shetland and I think its one of the best places to live, lots of wildlife, places to explore and pretty landscapes. Winter can be wild but it's a beautiful place.
@@isaacrobertson4901 I can’t wait to go. Still planning on next year but just need to sort property etc. as I work remotely anyway. Hope to spend 3-4 months there, see how we like it as a family, and move permanently from then.
I am an Englishman and I spent a week in Shetland a few years ago. While there is much of interest and beauty to be found in Shetland, the best part for me was the people. They are welcoming to all and generally lovely!
Agreed. I went in the late 90's. Fantastic hospitality plus I found that so many shared my surname of Miller. I also was stunned to be served by a guy in a fish and chip shop who was my doppleganger....tall, red blond hair and same facial features. I know my fathers ancestors were from Scotland and I wonder if it was Shetland 😁
As an american spending some time all around the UK i've noticed that the more north you go, the more welcoming and "extroverted" the people are (Which is the opposite here in the us). Talking to the locals was very easy up north in comparison to londoners for example, who are despite being very polite, talking to strangers there was close to impossible.
@@donquixotedoflamingo5510 Might also be a city - town thing. People in large, metropolitan cities generally tend to be quite reserved while those in towns are much more open.
@@abhishekmhatre1554 You're also right, city vs rural is also always a factor, but it's not just that. There is definitely a cultural difference between the cities/towns of the UK's south and north in that aspect as well (it's not just London), Northerners tend to be much more extroverted from my experience at least, it's the other way around here in the us.

I spent a total of four and a half years on Unst with the R.A.F. Loved the place and the people. If you referred to the locals as Scots you were very quickly informed that they were NOT Scots but Shetlanders. Very proud of their Viking heritage.
I call Shetland home after moving here from England a year ago! I do miss the convenience of living in the middle of England and having absolutely everything on my doorstep, but the people in this place are all incredibly welcoming and can’t do enough for you, I’m so lucky to be here. Every time I take a road trip here my socks get knocked right off my feet, was lucky enough to see wild otters, seals and even orcas! My heart feels so full after moving here and I can’t imagine being anywhere else ❤️ This is a great video and shows shetlands true beauty! Good job xox

I live in the north east of Scotland, next time you visit you should explore near here, I live in a a beautiful fishing village surrounded by the water and a beach! Moray is world famous for whisky and it’s distilleries. Glad you enjoyed Scotland so much!

My great grandpa was born in Shetland! He moved to Australia when he was in his late teens! I’ve already wanted to visit but never have.
I'm a New Zealander and this is so far away from where I am but definitely on my bucket list
You'd be amazed how many New Zealanders can trace their heritage back to Shetland. A lot of Shetlanders emigrated to New Zealand in the 18th/19th century.
Check out the Faroe Islands too. The Shetlands on steroids.

I'm a Shetlander and New Zealand was on my bucket list until I visited the South Island in 2019, desperate to go back for longer.
New Zealander who has Shetland ancestry here. My great great (one more great depending on who you ask...) grandfather came from unst, last lived at Feal and jumped ship to get here hahaha

This place is on my bucket list! I was in Scotland 2 months ago and just wow. Easily my favourite country I've been to. Edinburgh is gorgeous and the Highlands are magnificent (highly recommend a rabbies tour), never seen such beauty in my life and the history is amazing! I have heaps of Scottish ancestry and I love learning about it all! Already planning my next trip :) Looking forward to the next video!
Awesome work on capturing the epic scenery of the Shetland Islands. Makes me so proud to be Scottish and to have all of this on my doorstep! Would definitely recommend checking out the more of the west coast islands from Isle of Arran, Jura, Tiree and up to Skye and work your way through all their own brewery's and distilleries 😀

It would take at least 3 months to see the whole of Scotland e.g. from Mull of Kintyre to the Shetland Islands and back down to the Borders. Its a fly/drive fantasy trip that wont disappoint.

I have no idea how I ended up looking at this region in Google Maps but I was amazed by the amount of visible ruins (most probably from the Iron Age) almost everywhere you look!

i was there in summer 2017 even if for just 2 days. I had great weather and stunning views all over the main island, hell of a place!

Nice upload, I lived on Unst for a year. Glorious island about 10 x 4 miles in size. Don’t visit outside of summer. Wintertime can be grim with little daylight.

As a Brit, I appreciate your vlogs here a lot. My homeland is both ancient, and understatedly beautiful. I feel it can be often overlooked as most travellers beeline to London for a weekend and call it quits. Makes me think about the places I miss when I’m travelling abroad.
