She jumped out of the train. Halina Aszkenazy-Engelhardt’s account

During World War II, Halina Aszkenazy-Engelhardt (1925-2016) jumped out of the train going to the extermination camp at Majdanek. Her mother, in her last words to her daughter, ordered Halina to find Michał Kubacki, parish priest of the Basilica of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus in the Praga district of Warsaw. Halina began to look for shelter after the “Aryan side”. We present her account from the oral history collection of POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews.
