  • Show up at any party with a handful of this for an instant slam dunk! TIP- If you find that you under cooked your bacon, or that some pieces are a bit soft, a quick dip in the microwave one at a time, at 5-10 second pulses does the trick.

    I was getting ready to be a smartass, and simply say wire rack when I seen the bubbling brew you had going on! But I'm stupid what you ended up with looks way better than my wire rack pig candy I've made or seen made. I'm converted I will do it your way from now on. The completely covered non-sticky final product you ended up with looks amazing. Out of everyone I have seen doing this and I have seen alot. You are the only one that I have seen do it this way!!!! Thanks for the video!!!!

    Made it for the first time today! 😋. Had to bump up the temp to 330f but don’t go far - once the temp gets hot enough to candy the sugar it can very easily burn. Happy holidays!!!

    You can do that with thin bacon wrapped around a little smokies sausage. We nicknamed them "a heart attack on a stick". Secure the wrap with a toothpick. Make a whole lot or you're gonna start a riot.

    Wait! You dumped all the drippings! The sugar glaze will float on top. Just let it cool a little so the glaze firms up, then pull it off before the fat congeals, and make a pile on a plate. When it cools and hardens it makes sort of a bacon flavored brown sugar taffy. Just take a taste, and then see if you can keep from nibbling until you eat the rest of it. Just bacon fat and sugar. Two of the essential food groups.

    Hello Fencekid, I just saw your Candied Bacon recipe and they looked and sound delicious. I was wondering how long to cool the bacon in order to get its crispy stage? Will it take an hour or 2 for the bacon after they're done cooking to become crispy? Thank you for sharing your recipe and time.

    This is definitely the best candied bacon instructions I've come across so far. :) But I'm still running into the issue where the bacon comes out sticky rather than with a nice hard crunch. Attempting to let it off steam in the oven just results in it burning, or does nothing at all. ;_; Help?

    Someone else asked this question but got no response. How and where do we store the bacon after we've made this delicious receipe? I want to ship mine out of state for Christmas gifts. Does the bacon require special temperature/packaging? or is it really like candy once it's coated??
    PULLLLEEEEEZE answer this because this stuff is FANTASTICALLY GOOD!

    • @fencekid
      @fencekid  5 лет назад +3

      I don't know how long it would last unrefrigerated or unfrozen. It has never sat around for even a few days without getting eaten. You'd have to run some tests I guess. It should long enough to get through the mail. I'd freeze it until I dropped it in the mail. You should be ok, as long as it's cooked right.

    I have tried this twice and I can’t seem to get that hard candy texture that you do. It’s almost hard, but it’s still a little tacky. Also is there a trick to get the excess grease off the bacon after it’s cooled?

    • @judichristopher4604
      @judichristopher4604 5 лет назад +1

      Put the bacon on a paper towel..
      but you shouldn't have that problem,... if it is on a rack, the
      air should be all around the bacon... Hum?

      I tried doing it your way tonight; it was the BOMB! Easy Peasy; No Mess and in a whole lot less time and “fuss”! I used a nonstick skillet. I tried the plain maple syrup to start with, just to see how things turn out, then just added some other spices and Cayenne Pepper to the leftover syrup and add more syrup as need and “Voila”, it was magically delicious and top of the taste, it was crispy, Truly Candied Bacon! Next time, I am pulling out my 12” nonstick skillet! Thank you so much for sharing such a simple method.
