When we ask for guidance... how do we look for or find the guidance from God? How do we know when he is guiding us and when to listen how to listen for that guidance?
Hi, great question! Because of Jesus' death, we were given the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit lives within us, therefore when we pray it is important to have a moment of silence to listen for God's voice. God speaks within you, He speaks within your thoughts. A pastor once told me that when he met his wife he did not know her voice, but being married to her for a long time, if he had to stand in a dark room and listen to many people speak he would recognize his wife's voice. The same is true about God. When we 'practice' being quiet and listening to His voice, the more familiar His voice would be between our thoughts. This is not the only way God speaks to us, He also speaks through dreams, and through other people, when you read the bible He will open certain scriptures, etc. To know 'how' God is guiding you will be about building a relationship with Him. It would be wonderful if you could spend time in prayer and then afterward still your mind and ask God to open your ears to hear Him. Do this every time after a prayer.
