You... are an amazing person and a really rare type of traveller! I've seen dozens of videos of people complaining about train travel in Russia, even people in better cars than yours. Yet you enjoyed the journey and made friends! Thank you for restoring my faith in my fellow travellers :)
Aw, thank you so much, Green Horse! Maybe that's because I'm not used to luxury travel. Haha! But really, I have no complaints about this train ride, except maybe, the people who kept slamming the door to the toilet. My bunk was next to that door 😆. Other than that, I really treasure the experience.
Exactly, ski vermont -- it wasn't bad at all. And I actually had a lot of fun despite not having anyone to talk to. A lot of people take the third coach every day, and I figured if they can, then surely I can too. 😄
I am now 65 years old and i like to hear, that young people go out with a limited budget, just to see the world, as i did it in my younger years. And as long as you are attentive and you avoid empty spaces, it''s not dangerous
Massive respect for taking on this journey. To be stuck in a cabin filled with people who don't speak your language and with no gadgets?! That is really amazing. I kalau nak naik KTM across Malaysia pun pikir multiple times haha. Keep it up! Resume travelling after pandemic
Haha, thank you so much for your support, Zainul. I love long train rides. But traveling without my phone was a first for me and honestly quite a challenge! Glad I made through it with my sanity intact 😄
Thank you so much, Mr Soh! And apologies for the late reply. Yes, Trans Siberian was one of the top things on my bucket list. Glad that I finally did it. 🙂
Wowwwww! This is my dream to go to Russia and visit Siberia with the train siberian but my fellow russians were mocked at my dream they said it's impossible for young asian girl like me do a solo trip to Siberia by their train cause it's unsafe..... and then i saw this video yang sangat membantu aku untuk kembali berusaha meraih mimpiku yang lama terkubur karena rasa takut dan terlalu perduli apa kata orang...... terima kasih!!!❤❤❤ Salam dari Jakarta.
You're absolutely right, Refa. Haters gonna hate, naysayers are gonna say no, but if you listen to them and if you think too much about danger, then you're never going to go anywhere, and that's a pretty sad way to live, in my opinion. I took the Beijing-Ulaan Bator-Moscow-St Petersburg ard the same months as you! Plus the baltics are so beautiful. It was one of the best experience ever. So nice to relive the moments through your video
You are amazing traveller, travelled so long in siberian train. Your voice is sweet and clear, it is your first video today I watched.. I travelled from Moscow to St. Petersburg in July 2019 in same way. In my compartment , it was occupied by Chinees citizen in group, hence conversation was not possible except few occasions when english knowing girls had introduced herself from China and about group. You have covered many shots in short video without breaking the sequence, is also a art of editing, although you had opportunity to make several videos during this journey. Anyway I enjoyed well from Lucknow, India. Thanks for beautiful video.

Hello, famous blogger. 😁 Thank you so much for watching! I think I came across your page ages ago when we had a mutual friend. Were you in UIA too? Anyway, I've flown to and from Europe a few times with tickets of that price, sometimes lower. 🙂
Great journey for budget price! Baltic buses have not only cofemacines and entertainment systems, but wi-fi and toilets. All for free. St.Petersburg is wrongly located on the map btw.
Yes, I'm super impressed with the long-distance buses in the Baltic states. I don't think I had ever experienced that anywhere else before. They're so affordable too! Thank you for pointing out the mistake. I didn't notice it when I downloaded the map 😬🙊
Thank you so much for watching. I'm not entirely sure about bicycles, but I've seen the locals bring loads of luggage and large cartons with them, so mayyybe it's possible. Anyway, I don't want to keep your hopes up-- better check with the railway company before you go. All the best for your journey!
Great video! I would like to go by train to Moscow until Vladivistok alone and stop in some cities for a few days. Do you think a girl can travel alone around Russia?
I would do this just for the challenge and sense of accomplishment by surviving nearly a week on a train. I've thought long about doing this as a full overland Train journey starting in Edinburgh or London and finishing in Beijing. You could also continue all the way thorugh SE asia and Finish in Singapore but would have to do some parts using buses as trains don't connect. One day i'm definately gonna get it done.
That sounds like an amazing plan! It will certainly take a lot of time and planning, but I'm sure it will be all worth it. All the best to you, and let me know if you're stopping in Kuala Lumpur 😉
Thank you very much for your amazing video.. i really enjoyed it. I would like to ask you, how to book the train ticket? If you have any information, the website, please share it with us. Thank you so much.. 😊😊🙏
👍👍👍 В таких поездах должен быть душ, нужно было спросить у проводника - в каком вагоне он находится, как правило - ближе к электровозу. PS: Копчённый омуль - вкус на любителя, а вот хариус можно было и попробовать!
Thank you for the info! I figured there must be a shower (and restaurant) somewhere, but I was too scared and shy to poke my nose where it didn't belong, especially when I didn't speak the language. Anyway, it was still quite cold for me in the train so I was fine without a shower. :-)
You're welcome, Daryl. And thank you for watching! They will let you know when you have reached your stop, but on your ticket will be written your arrival time, so you can get ready. If you have your phone with you, it should make it easier too, as you can check your current location. All the best for your trip!
Did you include to the final ammount one ringgit you gave me as a souvenir in a city bus? I still hold it in my wallet as a lucky banknote that must bring me easy money.
Hahaha that makes sense. If you come to Malaysia, you can get a simple nasi lemak for RM1. Not many places sell it this cheap anymore, but you can still find some.
Nice trip, no expensive, it remind me a trip on the Amazon river that last 6 days, but we had showers. I assume the price didn't include the food for the 5 days
Wow, that 6-day Amazon trip sounds exciting! I haven't had a chance to visit South America yet, but when I do, I'll definitely look into that. No, the price didn't include food, but you could buy some light snacks from the attendant. And I'm sure there must be a restaurant car on the train somewhere, but I was too shy and timid to go and look for it 🙈
Классное видео,я хочу отправиться в это путешествие.... that is the type of travel I like but I read that you can stop at different cities for a few days along the route
Yes, that would be another great way to enjoy the Trans Siberian, although it will definitely require more time and planning. Maybe I'll try that next time. For this trip, I specifically wanted to experience the 5-day continuous train journey 😁

Nice experience you had there .....Trans-Siberian Railway has always been in my bucket list. When this whole COVID-19 nightmare is over , perhaps one day , I will do it..... Ya, preparing myself ... as I also learning basic Russian.... ( I taken a keen interest in the 5 STAN countries from the pro-Soviet area in Central Asia, pretty sure some Russian will do some good.... My question of the day : Would you do it all over again?
They say you should try reading your favorite books at different stages of your life to see how your perspective changes each time. So, that's exactly what I want to do about the Trans-Siberian -- I would do it again, but maybe later in my life and see if it affects me differently. I hope you'll get to experience it too post-Covid. And good luck with your Russian! 👍🏼💪🏼
Hmm..probably, Eamon. I don't know yet what my plans will be -- whether to do it halfway, or do the whole thing again, or maybe go the opposite direction, but I can't rest easy until I make it to Mongolia. Haha!
Thank you! Some may think that it was a bit rushed and crazy, and they're probably right to think so. But it was fine for me. Everybody travels at a different pace. 🙂
Same here, although I want to go further. Make it to Beijing and then onwards to Tibet which, if I remember correctly, takes you on the highest railroad in the world. Even oxygen masks are available.
Very interesting report and beautiful trip, you are so courageous to travel alone in all this countries abroad and I have a question, do you take a train or a bus to reach the capitals of the Baltic countries ? Thanks a lot for sharing
Stumbled upon your post after 6 years you did this trip!! I'm baffled that you traveled 2 weeks with that small haversack. How many change of clothes did you bring How did you manage without a phone? You brought a camera?
Hi Shinyi, ya I had a small action cam with me, luckily. Otherwise, there wouldn't have been any video of this journey 😭 I'm the type who's always cold and almost never sweats, so I can wear the same clothes over and over before washing 😁.
I guess every long distance train has that one elder lady that can eat non-stop during the entire trip even if it is a 4 day trip. My grandma was once this type of a person. I remember traveling with her on a train to the seaside (around 8 hour trip) and she always booked the seat next to the table so that the moment we enter the train, she starts taking out all kinds of food and eating all the time, and she was looking at me all the time like "hey, why aren't you eating, aren't you hungry". Like, this type of people have some irrational fear of starving to death if they do not eat anything for more then 10 minutes while on a train. And my grandma was a cool person, otherwise. She wasn't crazy.
Aw, your grandma sounds so sweet. I wouldn't have minded being her seatmate on the train 😁. It must be a grandma thing -- always wanting to keep everyone well-fed. Transcends all nationalities.
Menarik pengalaman u ini... i suka... Kalau la dapat travel macam nie... Selalu tengaok dalam tv sahaja... Btw, i pergi ke blog u untuk tahu why u spend 1 night dalam prison...
Oh, not anymore! I would love to go back and spend more time there, maybe in winter (but perhaps that's too ambitious for someone from a tropical country) 🤭. Are you in Russia right now?
Hi , this is an amazing journey , got me thinking of doing it . I would be much appreciated if you could give me sorts of tips and place, plus budget of all cost . Cheeersss
Hello dear, do you think it would be possible for a 59 year old male to take this SOLO journey in 3rd class? Waiting for your sincere evaluation. Thanks in advance. Keep going!
Some rookie mistakes but overall you did it! That last compartment is cheap for a reason! You got the worst seat in the whole car. That food you brought can be bought at every station, Chinese kind though. Showers are available for about 2 usd.
I think you did a big mistake by just adding places to your visit list instead of exploring the place properly by staying at least couple of days at each place
Thank you for your input, Travel Crab. Ideally, I would have preferred to stay at least a month in each country, but to some people, even that would be too short. Bottom line is, everybody has different commitments, different budgets, different time constraints, and different travel styles. You do what works best for you. It's your trip 🙂
Hi, Yahya. To get cheap tickets, you basically have to keep checking various airlines to look for promos. I find that it's usually cheaper to fly to Europe during autumn (Sept - Nov). I used Scoot airline, transiting in Singapore. Hope this helps.

Thank you for watching! I flew from Kuala Lumpur to Berlin on Fly Scoot, and from Beijing to Kuala Lumpur on Air Asia.

Kalau buat nanti jangan lupa post kat RUclips tau 😉
Travel without phone? Your English so good.👌
Thank you! Yes, I had to travel without a phone for about 10 days
Nice video 👍😄👍👍
I want to ask which passport you own and was it visa free to shengen EU zone.
Thank you, Omolosho. I hold a Malaysian passport and yes, Schengen was visa-free for me. I only needed visas for Russia and China on this trip.
Nice.
Good ..travel plan..though short but many things packed in 2 weeks
Thank you! Some may think that it was a bit rushed and crazy, and they're probably right to think so. But it was fine for me. Everybody travels at a different pace. 🙂
Wow.. The great journey Ummi..
Thanks, Ana! 😘
I also planning to go transiberian journey thanks for the book
Bucketlisttttt!!!😍😍
Hope you'll get to do it soon, Mai 😘
Same here, although I want to go further. Make it to Beijing and then onwards to Tibet which, if I remember correctly, takes you on the highest railroad in the world. Even oxygen masks are available.
@@Hans-gb4mv ohh that sounds intense, but exciting too!
I wish that we can resume travelling.. Rindu
I wish that too, Azimah. 🙂
How many change of clothes did you bring
How did you manage without a phone? You brought a camera?
Hi Shinyi, ya I had a small action cam with me, luckily. Otherwise, there wouldn't have been any video of this journey 😭
I'm the type who's always cold and almost never sweats, so I can wear the same clothes over and over before washing 😁.
@@UmmiGoesWhere I've sent a msg via Messenger. Hope we can have real coffee in one of the many gorgeous cafes in KL/PJ 🤩
enjoyed youe vlog.
Thank you, Luitparia. Glad you enjoyed the video 🙂
Hehe masuk penjara secara sukarela 🤭🤫
Thank you for your support, bro!
wahh bestnyaa travel naik train..iena pernah g ngan kawan2 travel naik train tp x pernah lai travel solo la..
Mungkin nanti boleh try solo pulak 😉
Great video! You are A traveler 🥰. Hope you are not thinking anymore that Russia is unsafe. It's my home country 😉
Oh, not anymore! I would love to go back and spend more time there, maybe in winter (but perhaps that's too ambitious for someone from a tropical country) 🤭. Are you in Russia right now?
Every country has its own unsafe areas, but generally speaking, I don't think most countries as a whole are unsafe.
Great 👍
Thank you! 🙂
In Sha Allah, saya akan cuba tiru cara ini...
Semoga dipermudahkan, Pak Lah. 🙂
Keep going!
Great journey! when did you take that trip? I presume it was before the pandemic?
Thank you, L Luna. Yes, this was in October 2018. Thank you for watching! ☺️
You spent only USD 748 all inclusive ? amazing
Yes, thank you, Work Btn! 🙂
Some rookie mistakes but overall you did it! That last compartment is cheap for a reason! You got the worst seat in the whole car. That food you brought can be bought at every station, Chinese kind though. Showers are available for about 2 usd.
I’m planning to travel from Moscow to Beijing what should I prepare for ?
I want to try this trip
I hope you will! All the best.
It's your trip 🙂
totally agree @@UmmiGoesWhere
Ummi .can you share...how you book the flight to Berlin,...the. info is useful to me. Thank you..bless you
Hi, Yahya. To get cheap tickets, you basically have to keep checking various airlines to look for promos. I find that it's usually cheaper to fly to Europe during autumn (Sept - Nov). I used Scoot airline, transiting in Singapore. Hope this helps.
@@UmmiGoesWhere thanks,bless you
Good
Thanks
Nice! Why did you not simply go directly to Moscow from Berlin? Was it simply cost-cutting?
No, I wanted to see all the other places too. Wish i could have done everything overland, but I was short of time. Anyway, thanks for watching! 😘
Amazing
Thank you!
Tallinn has medieval oldtown, Vilnius got medieval district in oldtown.😊
Cool! Thank you for the info 😊
I like watching your vlog ang blog…
Thank you so much for your feedback, Mak D Sg. It means a lot to me 🤗

Noone noticed at 5:11 that Saint-Petersburg is placed wrong 200 kilometers.
Sharp eye! 😀 Another commenter also pointed it out. Thank you for letting me know -- I didn't notice it when I downloaded the map.

Seagulls are beautiful, don't you think? 🙂
