You may develop a wider audience than expected. Many of us older men are alarmed at the denegation of masculinity in its many wholesome forms. These vintage photos remind us that affection between men was once normal and encouraged. Male form wasn't hidden like it is now either. Masculinity comes in many forms and expressions. Thanks for focusing on good ones.
Thank you, Bryan! I try to think of history as a pendulum and see us at one extreme of the swing. My hope is images like these will remind a few folks we aren’t what we see through the lens of mass media or social media. We’re what we see when people who knew and cared about us took and/or saved our photos so our images can be remembered by the generation. Humanity (including masculinity) is currently depicted in some truly (un)funhouse mirrors imo. I love tech, but i believe corporate-controlled media is invested in us being divided and afraid of our true natures and powers.
I didn't know what expect. This presentation kept a smile on my face. I completely enjoyed it. I saw in the photos, myself, parts of me, my father, my brother, my friends, my best friends, my lovers, my husband who passed. All with a beautiful smile. Thank you, as I write, only just this moment, emotions arise, so again, thank you.
A belated thank you for the thoughtful comment and share. It's always my hope that folks will see themselves and their loved ones. We're all a part of giant family in my eye...The Family Of Man. My condolences on your husband's passing. Wishing you love and light in 2025 and beyond!
You're sweet. Me? I'm just a squirrely dude trying to make a living...making videos from photos of men who catch my eye (and imagination). If you haven't checked out my Substack, you might enjoy that too: collidepress.com No pressure. Either ways, cheers...and Happy New Years!
My father seemed to have a bond of survival with the men of his generation that he did not translate to me. I think he even resented my existence, because I wasn’t his idea, or ideal. But I’ve come to realize every man has to find his way to other men, or we’re alone on our own battlefield. Confronting the battlefield is your mission. And we’re stronger for it. Which is a threat to those who benefit from ignorant, and archaic, divisions that keeps us in ever growing, divisive, categories. There’s a line from an early 1940’s period film that’s spoken by the father in the household, to his long-widowed sister-in-law who was apprehensive about introducing a new man, which goes, “A man comes into a house. He likes to meet another man. It makes him feel at home.” That’s what you do Clint.
Wow. What a beautifull-written gift of a comment. You made me tear up and get goosebumps. I'm glad my little montages make you feel at "home." Even just a little, that's always been my hope. Whatever kind of man any kind of man is, I'm here with my gay-ass pom-poms to cheer you on. Like you, I wasn't my ideal son. But I'm lucky he mostly found a way to show me love while he was here. Not long enough, but we all do our best with what we have, right? Thank YOU for the kind words...they mean a lot to me. Cheers! 🌈❤️✌️
Thank you! Glad you like the voice...it's actually "my" new AI voice. His name is "Derek," but he does sound like I want to sound, if that's any consolation. Words are mine. 🌈✌️ Btw, I wrote about the voice thing just this morning, if you're curious: collidepress.substack.com/p/finding-the-right-balance
I love all you do, especially bringing back to light all of these vintage photos. Love your background music too! That reminds me of a great friend I lost to cancer a year ago. Once again, thank you with much love!
Thank you, Dan...my condolences on your loss, but hope you feel his love and light around you. Especially this time of the year. Cheers and Happy Holidays!
Thank you! Except for a few early videos, music credits are in the description. For most of the recent ones, I subscribe to Epidemic Sound...a wonderful music library service. Many of the artists are available on Spotify and the like too. Feel free to scroll down for more info. Enjoy!
Your collection of vintage photos is amazing, many of them astounding. It's so important to preserve and present them. Keep up the good work in spite of any the downsides you encounter. I notice you seem to have a predisposition for some of the subjects. When it comes to my own, I'm a big Ed Fury fan, and maybe you could find some Jorge Rivero shots, because that guy is quite the male specimen, and still with us as far as I know.
Thank you! I need to give credit to all the collectors and curators who shared these images on these here interwebs. We all owe them a debt of gratitude for helping keep as much of our history alive and kicking as possible. As for Mr. Rivero, I'm not familiar, but I've added him to my hit list for tomorrow's research. Thank YOU!
@@CollidePress Rivero was a major Mexican matinee idol who made his big American movie debut in RIO LOBO with John Wayne back in 1970. What a looker, and a shirtless wonder as well!
Me too RJ would be great to see him in colour, I guess he's blondish and not with brown eyes. Looking at his left hand he's wearing a pinkie ring, so if folklore is rite he could be 🌈Ish!!! Cheers DougT

I love to see all those vintage photos and particularly those older where you can see a moment in life, where you see outfits, workers, people at the beach or any kind of normal things in America !
The photos are beautiful. I think that each photo tells an impossible love story, whether due to time, prejudice or simple friendship. We will never know, but the photos are beautiful.
Watching this made me recall an advisory from a life drawing lesson with words to the effect: on leaner less developed male torsos the nipples will "appear" to be farther apart than those on a well muscled male .
Thank you. I don’t consider folks fans though. Just fellow lovers of men and photography. We’re all equal. Except rude dudes. They get to see my not-so-nice side. lol
Thank you. Sadly, this collection didn't have dates. Thanks for the musical recommendations. I'll see what's available in my music subscription. Classical music is tricky because of fake copyright claims, even when it's a free recording. Cheers

its nice to hear clare de lune in what i call toonifed this is not toonified . you hear it in many early cartoons esp bugs bunney etc. this compliments yr vid .
So THAT'S what it sounds like...I'm the worst at "Name That Tune." Even though I used to play the piano, my ability to spot a musical reference is legendarily non-existent. Thanks for pointing it out. Cheers.
