I dont know how nor why but my experience with cleansers is the same: for the first few uses I don't like them, then something clicks and I love them 🤷🏻♀️
I’m embarrassed to admit my all time favorite cleanser is one of those neutrogena cleansing scrubs _(no microbeads, non harsh scrubbing particles)_ I typically dont recommend Neutrogena cleansers to people with major skin issues because they often use a lot of sensitizing ingredients. But ever since adolescenthood my skin has always responded extremely well to them. I used only higher quality cleansers for a couple years until I was short on cash and just needed a cheap easily-accessible cleanser so I got Neutrogena’s scrub and my skin immediately fell back in love with it.
Made me realized proper Skincare is far more nuanced. An objectively lower-quality product may work wonders for a percentage of people
I'm always interested in where your skincare journey first started. Did you start your skincare in your teens, later in life? What products did you use in the beginning of your skincare journey. I started my journey with LUSH! I thought that was quality 👌 skincare, never even knew my skin type. Never knew about peptides, antioxidants, or how to take care of my aging skin.
In my teens, and really up until the last 8 or so years I didn't do much at all. Cleanser at night (lancome) then the Clinique yellow moisturizer in the daytime. That was it, and I always wondered why my skin always looked so red and flaky all the time. At least I finally figured it out at some point in my lifetime. I tried lush too, kind of fun stuff, but I never walked out of that store without spending close to $100 or more. 🤦♀️
I keep trying others but quickly toss them aside. My ride or die is Retrouve Luminous Cleansing Elixir. It removes make up (even waterproof), does not make my eyes blur, no scent, minimal ingredients and my face feels so soft after using it. No need to double cleanse which saves steps in my skin care routine.
My favorite cleansers are:
Jordan Samuel Skin Matinee Gel Cleanser - I use it in the morning, fragrance free
Cerave Hydrating cleanser - my most repurchased
Bioderma Micellar cleanser (not the water, the cleanser. Although I also really love the water) - new discovery but already bought a backup
La Roche Posay Effaclar cleanser - I love this one bc it’s a bit purifying and works well with my oily skin
I’ve always always used the Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser morning and night since I was 15 (now I’m 40) because it was recommended by my dermatologist for my acne prone skin. Not the Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser - that just makes my skin burn. I’ve started using Farmacy Green Clean Cleansing Balm as first step in the evening to remove makeup and I LOVE the product!! Then I follow up with my Cetaphil.
I’m with you on the LRP and The Ordinary. I have backups for when I run out of them.
Happy Tuesday Sarah ❤
Thanks Sarah! I just added a bunch of these to my wish list 💕🍁! Takes me ages to finish cleansers too, I keep trying new ones as I finish.
Thank you miss.Finding a cleanser that stay in my routine is not found. So i have the ordinary that i like.
Recommend Sioris cream cleanser🙏🏻 helped me so much
My favorite cleansers so far have been the B.Lab matcha cleanser and the Beauty of Joseon green plum cleanser. I have dry, dehydrated and sensitive skin
Thanks Sarah! Dry skin, over 60 yo, no make-up, rinse with water in a.m. Summers I alternate Muji mild cleansing oil with Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Cleanser. Rest of year, only Muji oil.
First step cleanser, Clinique Take the Day Off balm or Ponds Cleansing Cream ( but Garnier pink top micellar water for mascara/eye makeup). Second step Byoma or Dove Sensitive Skin bar soap. The Ordinary Squalane cleanser looks interesting...how does oily skin like it?
My current facial cleansers are PC calm, PC moisture boost, and Clinique TTDO (balm&oil). I also use Neutrogena body oil (I know it is meant to be used as a body moisturizer but I find it useful to remove makeup, sunscreen, etc.
I love the Sweet Chef Oat Milk cleanser!!!
Paulas choice has my favourite cleanaers...Geek and gorgeous is a fantastic one...very gentle...
I've repurchased the youth to the people Superfood Cleanser about 6 times now. I also agree with the psa cleanser - I did not expect to like that one so much.
Thanks again Penny.
Thank you
Try Vanicream it’s fragrance free non drying. I love it. And Cosrx I use when my face is oily or feeling like a breakout is coming.
I have dry skin and use and love the CeraVe foaming cleanser too! Great for my dry sensitive skin😊
It's so strange that one is marketed towards normal to oily skin, but works great for my dry skin, even in the winter.
Hi Sarah my repurchased cleansers are:
Bioderma sensibio misceller water - it works the best for me of all the misceller waters I have tried
Avene antirougours refreshing cleanser - this is my all in one pick including eye makeup and great for lazy days. it's really gentle on my hyper reactive skin too.
LRP toleraine hydrating cleanser - just a long term staple
dear, Klairs gentle cleansing oil (in the clear bottle) - works great to take off makeup etc without drying my skin
the ordinary squalane cleanser - have bought a few of those
That's about it. Truthfully I like trying new cleansers, but I always have the Avene cream cleanser and the bioderma misceller water on hand for days when my skin is freaking out. Best wishes.
You should try the Chaga jelly cleanser by the brand 107. It’s gentle and non stripping. Loving it. Also tried their moisturizer and liked it too. I think you will like the brand.
Thanks, Sarah. Gotta try cosrx. Love the price.
I’ve purchased the Alpha Skincare Refreshing Face wash several times, and also Essano Rosehip Gentle Cleanser. Both are foaming, but not stripping at all.
Hi Sarah, I kinda like the Aveeno Calm &Restore cleanser at the moment. Feels very gentle and hydrating on my face 👍But always interested to see which are your faves 🤗
That Ordinary squalene looks good, too.
My 2 holy grail cleansers... I use the Stryke Club Face First daily and Niod Sanskrit Saponins 2x a week on my masking days. The Stryke Club cleanser has sodium hypochlorite, which I find really combats redness. The Niod cleanser is great at decongesting and giving your skin a reboot.
Ooh, yes I love that particular one from NIOD! I tried their other cleanser and didn't love it, but the saponins is fabulous a few times a week.
So interesting, I really dislike the cosrx one... I find it so drying! (And I've got oily/normal skin!).... Can't go wrong with ceravae though! I really like b lab matcha though. Cheap, non drying & effective.
Paula's Choice anti-redness exfoliating solution, Versed keep the peace acne-calming cream cleanser and Hero's exfoliating jelly cleanser are my most repurchased, love them all.
if you like the cerave foaming cleanser, in my opinion the la roche posay purifying foaming cleanser is very similar but in my opinion slightly better, also i love LRP's giant 400 ml cleansers, they last so long
I ❤these stories of different cleansers. I feel the same about Cerve. It works well, no matter where my skin is in it’s own journey. I will check out the psa cleanser. I am curious about quite a few of these.
Also curious about the number of cleansers you have tried. ☺️
I am right there with you! I'm hard on cleansers as well maybe because we have so many options. I'm always thinking there's probably something better out there than this. I do have favorites but usually it's because performance is good but it's all about price per ounce since we wash the stuff right down the drain literally. My favorites are the inkey list oat cleansing balm, the inkey list fulvic acid cleanser, cerave hydrating cleanser and it's Walmart equate Beauty dupe, and the elf pure skin cleanser for AM. I'm still on the hunt for a good cheap salicylic acid cleanser. The CeraVe one is just okay. Sarah, does the CeraVe foaming cleanser actually remove sunscreen and makeup in one step?
I love Heimish and Bioderma for sensitive skin, along with the Cerave
Bioderma = ❤️❤️❤️
I love the LRP cicaplast B5 cleanser.. I'll switch products and brands on my first step but never the second step cleanser. My backup has a backup.. I get nervous when I run low 😂
Is the sweet chef one similar to the LRP toleraine (milky & doesn't foam up)? & which of the 2 do u like better? I'm shopping for them now lol
I used to love the dermablemd makeup melter but they are reformulating, I'm sure the new one will be more $$$$. I have a love hate relationship with the Ren clean canvas, it's so thick and difficult to get out of the tube. My new love is the Skoah ( a vancouver spa brand) lotion cleanser.
You should try the Illiyoon head to toe cleanser it’s 500 ml in the 20$ range it’s like the cerave and the la roche posay had a baby
We have some overlap in our favourites! I still keep entirely too many cleansers on hand:
1st step options:
Clinique Take the Day Off
The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser
The Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm
2nd step options:
Neutrogena Hydro Boost (fragrance free)
DE Beste Jelly Cleanser
CeraVe Hydrating Cream to Foam Cleanser
Single step:
Skinfix cleanser
Can u do a top milk cleansers? I like em way better than oil ones. The issue is is that they're hard to find.
I keep go8ng back to Mad Hippie. My skin is dehydrated from an autoimmune.
Is it weird that I feel validated that 4 of the ones I've used and enjoyed are on this list lol (CosRx, CeraVe Foaming, La Roche Posay and The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser)
I am totally digging the Inky List Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser! I KNOW how you feel about hyaluronic acid😆 but it's so nice! You can use it to shave with too! Super smooth! My skin feels better than with ANY OTHER cleanser I've ever used😉Go figure 🤷♀️Have a great Tuesday, or Wednesday, whenever you see this😉🤗💗
I am so picky about cleansers, too. I think people underestimate how big a role cleansers play in your skin’s hydration level and its ability to absorb products. It’s the first step in your routine and affects everything that follows! It can also make a big difference in your skin’s pH and how much sebum your skin produces. The more hydrating my cleansers are, the clearer and calmer my skin is. Cleansers with AHAs and BHAs are a total no-go, my skin revolts. I recently started using the La Roche Posay hydrating cleanser after my first bout of perioral dermatitis, and I am hooked. Prior to that I had one cleanser by Eminence that I always used. But I think I’m a convert to LRP for life. It’s basically just glycerin and water with some added ceramides and niacinamide. It’s everything you need for a gentle cleanse that won’t irritate your skin. And it washes my makeup off perfectly, granted I don’t wear much. When I want a physical exfoliation I use the cleanser with a washcloth, instead of a scrub. So simple.
I've dealt with perioral dermatitis as well, that is no fun at all. Took so many changes to finally clear it up but I had to make so many changes in my routine to finally get it under control.
@@NOBSBeauty I would love to see a video on how you managed it!
This is Gonna b so Good Sarah🔥🔥🔥👍n Happy Tuesday😀….
Happy Tuesday- very nice sunny day outside!
Funny story: my most repurchased cleanser (4-5 times) is LRP Toleriane Gentle AND I’VE NEVER USED IT! My daughters keep stealing it! 😄 Someday…
I’ve also repurchased LRP Purifying and Bioderma Sensibio Gel cleansers. That’s it.
My sensitive, acne-prone skin is partial to European cleansers with the mineral spring water. Other cleansers make my skin burn, even Vanicream and Cerave! Not much luck with K-Beauty cleansers, either.
But my favorite oil cleanser/makeup is Kose Softymo Speedy (pink bottle/no fragrance). It’s super light but effective on my oily skin. Refills are also available, which is amazing.
ETA: At my age (53) and experience, I have to say that any cleanser without a pump is a dealbreaker. Nothing worse than having raccoon eyes and then having to fumble with a lid or jar. 👎👎
Hehe- see that happens to me sometimes, except I usually repurchase something before the first box gets delivered... and then they all show up and I realize I ordered the same thing from like 2 different stores... I need to not "sleep - shop" anymore!
I absolutely hate that COSRX cleanser it was irritating for me and caused breakouts☹I believe it’s due to the surfactant. That Cerave foaming cleanser is great because it doesn’t foam 😂 but my absolute favorite cleanser I’ve bought 4xs is hero cosmetics gentle milky cleanser! MY HG! 🤩 It’s rich, soothing and nourishing! Perfect for colder months. I’ve purchased the la roche posay hydrating cleanser 4xs as well! Glad we gave that in common :)
I loved the first bottle of the cosrx, the second bottle I haven't hit as hard, I wonder if I just got tired of using it or jumped the gun too fast to reorder it.
I have strange relationship with my cleanser - it is the only skincare product group that I do NOT want to switch up or try new products. Usually I try some toner, serum, cream and even if it is ok'ish, I move on and only re-buy the ones I really really like. With cleansers, I cannot swap out the Jelly Joker, I just cannot. :D Not happening. It is the only cleanser I have enjoyed the cleansing experience with. It does not foam at all (hate foaming stuff getting into my nose and eyes), does not sting eyes, does not run and drip from face because has nice thicker jelly consistency, it does not irritate, does not dry out my skin, cleanses nicely, and is cheap. How could I ever swap it out?
same for me with FAB cleanser. my first foray into skincare and repurchased a bunch of times. now i use the LRP you mentioned in the video. i love the big pump and also use it on my body! i will say cleansers are the one part of my skincare where i let myself have a little 'fun,' haha. with pretty bottles, fragrance. the rest of my skincare is just pure functionality
I think cleansers is the one area to go cheap on, or have a little fun with it, like you said. Focus on finding a good sunscreen and good actives, spend more money on those things that matter a bit more.
@@NOBSBeauty you are so right about that! looove your channel. xo
Loved the video! I always get a different cleanser because there is so many to try😁 My absolute favourite is the Allies of skin Amino cleanser.Bought it on a sale for more than half off, never repurchased (it's so expensive) and I also love the Ordinary Squalane cleanser.I have tried that La Roche Posay and really like it, same goes for Cerave and Geek and Gorgeous 🤗
I've got that Allies Cleanser in my stock, I'm going to have to give it a try tonight. I wonder if it's similar to their sister brands PSA Reset Cleanser?
@@NOBSBeauty I have never tried that one.I am not sure we can get that in Europe but I will try to get it somehow because if it is and it's more affordable, that would be amazing ❤️
For a daily cleanser or second cleanser I like Vanicream or FAB cleanser (the original).
The vanicream is quite nice, I could see that one being a repurchase in the future b
My only cleanser is from Stratia .
Hi Sarah, great video to show us the cleansers you actually enjoy using, nice to see this in RUclips influencers as we know you product test so many things so great great see honest opinions and reviews again 😀 just wondering, have you tried the Jordan Samuel Skin cleanser and if so what are your thoughts please?
Ooh yes, I've had good luck with Jordan Samuel products, the After s Show Cleanser for sensitive skin is great, does a good job removing makeup, just have to be sure to use a second step cleanser afterwards to remove any left over residue or makeup.
@@NOBSBeauty awwh that's good to know, I have been tempted to try it for some time and now am definitely going to give it a go 👍 thank you
I personally do not spend a lot on cleanser. My current favorite is the new Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. I would spend money on actives/serums.
I hate spending money on cleansers. That said I have an expensive one to use after my TCA peels. I was in target looking at sunscreens when I saw Olay had these cleansers for $4.99!!! So I bought the brightening one (love it!) and the shea butter one. When I went back to get the brightening one it was $7.99! Turns out that’s a marketing ploy with new Olay lines. I did not repurchase but picked up the elf hydrating one. I bought the cosrx one cause you liked it but I find it a bit harsh on my aging normal skin (it does remove makeup so I’ll probably use it this month to take off Halloween makeup.) I do love the LRP one and also use it on my body. The only CeraVe one I have is the SA one. I bought for my body and use the inky list for my face. I might try the CeraVe one you like and probably I’ll try the Ordinary’s.
Have you ever tried Herbivores Pink Cloud creamy jelly cleanser?
I have, still have about half a bottle of it. Seems to work well for a lot of people, not the best for makeup removing but okay as a second step cleanser. Not a game changer for me, but others love it!
I have combination skin and my favorite CeraVe cleanser is definitely the Cream to Foam one.
I like squalane but strangely I have not been impressed by the cleanser from The Ordinary. And I love most products from The Ordinary though. Not a fan of the Cream cleanser type of product I guess.
thanks! I love this list .I've noticed you are not a Neutrogena fan.
O so I ordered the Vegreen toner and was surprised to find samples in the box of the rice cleanser the Chaga mushroom probiotic serum and the cream I tried them all I'm impressed and I think I'm gonna order all of them but I did order the rice cleanser for like 10$ I did see Vegreen came out with alot more products in their line. I want the 107 Chaga wash but I'm alittle scared cause it has beragmont but I think I may just do it cause I can use the farmacy cleansing balm org that has beragmont oil in it and that one doesn't bother me I guess it's just how much they use and how high up in the ingredients list it is. Idk I'm on a cleanser kick I feel the need to buy more sense I'm running low, I'm so picky about them though but I heard u talk about the byoma jelly one I want to try , do u like the glossier jelly one? I think I'm gonna try the b lab matcha cleanser too, everyone was a fan of the grave I just threw it away I had it forever and I feel Everytime I used it my skin felt kinda dry. I tried the Ferver black tea ferment milk cleanser from target and I am enjoying that one alot 14$
I'm going to have to check vegreen out again! They've been on a pretty good and steady track, I have a feeling they are here to stay as opposed to some of those smaller up and coming indie brands. I also tried some samples from 107 and liked them, a touch of scent, but it wasn't overpowering which was nice!
@@NOBSBeauty I really want to try 107 especially that Chaga cleanser and the drizzle toner. I bought the Vegreen face wash to it nice gentle good 2 ND cleanse or morning cleanser . Have u tried the new brand from target called Ferver I have the black tea fermented milk cleanser and it's nice I haven't tried anything else yet but I think everything is under 15 or 18$ I heard the exfoliating mask was really nice too.
Cetaphil for dry skin....but I did buy one that was the CVS (or Walgreens) brand and it had the exact same ingredients. Sometimes the drug store dupes are very good.
You are so right, so many of those drugstore dupes are identical and just as good, but more affordable!
@@NOBSBeauty Yes, I just bought the Dr.Ceuracle Vegan Kombucha Tea Essence, which isn't so cheap, so I try to save wherever I can. Fingers crossed I love it for my on the dry side skin.
I've recently gone back to the squalane cleanser because deliveries from K-beauty companies can take so long. It's really good but I miss the buttery texture of my Banila cleansing balm 😢
Seems like the last two years have really slowed shipping down from so many overseas companies, and it was never fast to begin with. My last stylevana order took over a month to arrive.
I hate most cleansers. 😂 So I repurchase the Dermalogica special cleansing gel and their Ultracalming cleanser again again. For literally ages by now. (I do sometimes try others but don’t repurchase.)
💙💙💙💙
Interesting with the CeraVe cleanser. I found that the foaming cleanser for oily skin was too stripping for my oily skin😅 and I love the CeraVe cleansers for dry skin (like hydrating foaming oil, and hydrating one).
I have sensitive aging skin, and these are my favorites which I haven't repurchased yet because I'm trying to use up the rest of the tryout products 🤷♀ - B_LAB Cica Barrier 5.5 Gel Cleanser; heimish All Clean Green Foam; SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule Foam.
Oh you've got so many of my faves in your list!
Tell your brother to look into the low carb or keto diet if he has type 2 diabetes. I reversed my diabetes.
