Agreed, especially for those of us who have genetics leading us to build muscle & strength more quickly. I remember reading some articles about how this new-age exercise science has supposedly determined that lifting heavy weights doesn't actually slow down combat athletes so long as they observe several steady rules. However, I can feel myself slowing down whenever I start focusing more on lifting weights than calisthenics, regardless of the exercises, the volume, or the rep ranges. Perhaps that's not always true for some true "hardgainers", but whenever I focus mostly on calisthenics, I can tell that my capacity to move quickly & explode increases, along with my endurance. I only really need a few basic weightlifting moves, such as a few sets of rows to keep my push-pull ratios balanced (I have naturally strong "push" muscles) & my shoulders healthy. There's also a few landmine-based exercises that really seem to help with combat performance, but they're more focused on lifting the weight quickly than lifting as much as possible.

@@Tyrosine0910 Pretty right everything. Just remember, people tend to focus too much on the equipment used for training, bodyweight, barbells, dumbells, kettlebell, bands, and so on. Those are just TOOLS.
Our body doesn't care about what kind of equipment we use. The things that really matter are INTENSITY, FREQUENCY, VOLUME, and MOVEMENT PATTERNS.
So pick up everything make you feel confortable and help you work in the range of what you want improve.

Love this routine! The first challenge, I usually do 10 rounds. Then a mix of 4-5 rounds each of the next two routines. To equal 20 minutes total of work. Kicks my butt every time.

Hey, Daru! Hope all is well! So, a question for the first challenge. So, when you say every minute on the minute… let’s say I start off at 20:00, and finish the sets at 19:35. Do I start again at 18:35, or do I begin again at 18:59? At the very beginning of every minute?

I don’t like turning people away that want to learn but it would be in your best interest to get a diploma and some basic foundational knowledge on anatomy, biology, physiology, and nutrition.

@@PhilDaruStrong i was kinda a troublemaker as a kid i was expelled from school in 9th grade and no other school in my area would accept me… i got in a few altercation with classmates and some teachers. i’m 20 now and realize i messed up, i am currently studying to get my ged. every national certification for nutrition or training i find requires a diploma or ged. i have been training, studying and taking notes on channels like yours , mind pump, mark bell and a lot of others. my goal is eventually to become a trainer and hopefully eventually make it pro in mma.
