Like you, I am not typically a Makers fan… but this is my favorite. Have not tried Cellar, and I’m sure it’s better, but also 4x the price! Pepper+Cinnamon initially, then transitions to chocolate and caramel. The finish is different than typical makers and I like the oaky/chocolate combo that lingers.
Another fantastic review Matt. I am looking forward to trying this release. BEP is the best Maker's I have had. Never found the 2023 or 2024 Cellar Aged.
I drank this at a tasting where I had Little Book, Russel 15, Old Forrester Birthday, and this. I found it dynamic and quite impressive. All that said, it finished 4th in that little contest.
I totally agree on your score. Personally, for the price, I would prefer a good Larceny release (B523 or C923) for around $65 over Maker's The Heart for $75+
I've always liked the MM 101 a lot. The 46 Cask Strength is good too. Everything else is ok. I never tasted a limited release of theirs that i thought was worth the extra expense
I finished my bottle a few weeks ago. Some shops are charging $100.00 for it. I got mine for around $70.00. It was "good". Not really anything special to warrant another purchase at that price - let alone $100(!). I had a shot at a bottle of Cellar Aged this afternoon. But at $200, it was a "no-thanks!". I'll stick to the 101 or the 46.
If I go straight to HR it’s ok, if I warm up my palate with BT prior then the chocolate really comes out. I’m not a Mm fan, but I would pick up a backup of HR
I had a Makers 46 Cask Strength and felt that the French Oak staves over took the rest of the flavors (like a speaker turned up to 11). I do tell people to buy the regular Makers 46 in place of Weller 12. Both are good and enjoyable but one note wonders.
I don't hate it either. I don't get maple on it and the caramel and chocolate are pretty subdued for me. I think I would rather have bought two Maker's 101s instead.
@ADHDWhiskey Matt! Thank you for sharing your palate! Trying to make a decision, Westward Milestone or Jacob's Well 211? I love old oaky bourbon but the hype around Milestone has me second guessing myself...
Should it be a 45-50 bottle yes but we all know that isn’t going to happen with these “limited” bottles but at least it’s not 150. I do enjoy MM so I’m sure I’ll power through this bottle without any regrets other than the price. Enjoy!!🥃🥃🥃
For me it's a pepper bomb up front and then it fades into chocolate in the back. I paid MSRP so I thought it was good for that. Wouldn't pay $80+ that some stores are charging. I'm excited to try Lost Recipe soon when my Costco gets a shipment.
I'm pretty sure it was just youtubers saying they were calling it quits, I never saw anything official announcing they were discontinuing it. Maybe they told some people they were just changing their methods or something.
I don't know how different they are, but I had some from a bottle of this that smelled VERY STRONGLY of chocolate, like crazy chocolate, I didn't get much else because the chocolate was so strong.
wow 750ml/$80 I just realized how good a deal gas is. $3/gallon and can drive 400 plus miles for $42. if my car ran on bourbon it would cost 5 bottles/gallon on my 14 gallon tank it would cost $5600 to burn a tank of juice. I ain't complaining, but damn bourbon has gotten way out of hand.
Is this a 700ml bottle like the lost recipe? I passed on that bottle because of that B.S. It's bad enough the industry shrunk the once standard liter bottles to 750ml, but this shrinkage needs to stop. We need to really pay attention to what we are buying.
Thank you Matt! I bought a 2024 shenks @ $125 and didn’t investigate prior. Ya very disappointing and was hunting this Makers Mark and you pulled me out of the ditch! 👍
Matt really loves finishes in his mouth
🤔 🧐
Oh that’s just so wrong and I think I may have spent too much time on that site that rhymes with corn pub sadly.
I am wrong but I like the Heart Release. Not a big Makers fan either. I also like the 101. 🤷🏼♂️ Cheers Matt! 🥃
"I don't hate that" is a 8.5/10 from Matt on any Makers expression
Like you, I am not typically a Makers fan… but this is my favorite. Have not tried Cellar, and I’m sure it’s better, but also 4x the price!

Thanks good review my fav Makers Mark are the makers Mark Select store picks. Then cask strength then cellar aged
Not a big Maker’s Mark fan but I do occasionally like a pour of BRT-01, BEP, and a store pick bottle. Cheers!
This one is like the BRT (the one that has that burnt chocolate taste).
I drank this at a tasting where I had Little Book, Russel 15, Old Forrester Birthday, and this. I found it dynamic and quite impressive. All that said, it finished 4th in that little contest.
Not a die hard makers fan but the heart release really turned me onto them.
It took a few days after opening before i really noticed the chocolate note. My favorite Makers ive tried though for sure.
I totally agree on your score. Personally, for the price, I would prefer a good Larceny release (B523 or C923) for around $65 over Maker's The Heart for $75+
Aye i just seen your channel pop up not long ago n didn't know why... seems like we have a hobby in common😎😂
If $10 is the major factor you might be in the wrong business 😂
I just got this bottle for 69$ at Costco. You still taking Larceny over it?
I'm partial to a Private Select I was part of as part of a charity release. I enjoy Makers more and more. 2021/22 series are pretty dang good.
I really like this bottle and just got the Lost Recipe one at Costco. It's fantastic
I've always liked the MM 101 a lot. The 46 Cask Strength is good too. Everything else is ok. I never tasted a limited release of theirs that i thought was worth the extra expense

Just bought a Private Select store pick. Neck pour was good and now letting it breathe. Hope it's as good as cask strength and 46.
BeRT-01 and -02 are truly the best ❤
I mixed half a bottle of 01 and 02 to make a BRT-03. It's delicious!
I had a Makers 46 Cask Strength and felt that the French Oak staves over took the rest of the flavors (like a speaker turned up to 11). I do tell people to buy the regular Makers 46 in place of Weller 12. Both are good and enjoyable but one note wonders.
RC6 but I recently grabbed this years MMCA and hope it becomes the favorite
I picked it up for 60 at Total Wine, so I’m fine with it at the price.
For $45-$55, Makers Cask Strength is my go to daily drinker.
A liquor story, my hometown just put it on sale for $64 about to pick up a couple of
Only had two Maker’s Marks. Cask Strength, which I hated. And a breast cancer awareness store pick that’s delicious. So who knows!
I can't disagree with you more. I absolutely love this bottle. I backed it up 3x.
Vs. 46 Cask. What are your thoughts? Both about the same price point.
I have a bottle of this bourbon with the same words, but a proof of 111.7
Should it be a 45-50 bottle yes but we all know that isn’t going to happen with these “limited” bottles but at least it’s not 150. I do enjoy MM so I’m sure I’ll power through this bottle without any regrets other than the price. Enjoy!!🥃🥃🥃

That label is ribbed for Portski's pleasure
Glad I was able to buy this for $60
I like some of the barrel select store picks I've tried recently. They've not all been great, but way better than Makers, 101, and 46
I tend to lean more towards the Weller line rather than Maker’s.
I get Mexican chocolate with this one. In a world of overpriced LE’s, this is one of the few I can find priced fairly.
Ur hilarious sir!
I'm pretty sure it was just youtubers saying they were calling it quits, I never saw anything official announcing they were discontinuing it. Maybe they told some people they were just changing their methods or something.
Matt (makers hater) Porter.😅 just kidding great honest video
I don't know how different they are, but I had some from a bottle of this that smelled VERY STRONGLY of chocolate, like crazy chocolate, I didn't get much else because the chocolate was so strong.
The "bitterness" is move of a burnt chocolate kind of taste. I like it, but Matt wasn't a huge fan. One of the BRT's had a similar profile.
I didn’t get any of the bitterness that some have been. My bottle was a sweet treat
400 in reach better. Would like to see his Only Drams account
Makers Mark 101 was my favorite one. Then BRT-02. Ugh. This sucks. FOMO hit me and I bought this one. I should’ve left it on the shelf.
WTWT keeping it real! Meh whiskey gets a meh rating, no "agree with everyone else on lubetube" ratings!
wow 750ml/$80 I just realized how good a deal gas is. $3/gallon and can drive 400 plus miles for $42. if my car ran on bourbon it would cost 5 bottles/gallon

MM101 because it comes in a box.
Matt I’m not doing Makers Mark, been disappointed too many times buying their products
Disagree on this one. I found it to be one of the best bottles I've had all year. Let it sit a month and go back to it.
Is this a 700ml bottle like the lost recipe? I passed on that bottle because of that B.S. It's bad enough the industry shrunk the once standard liter bottles to 750ml, but this shrinkage needs to stop. We need to really pay attention to what we are buying.
Blind taste all your Makers Marks so we really know what’s the ones to sip and the ones to forget.
I like makers but the cellar aged was not special. Tried a pour at my favorite bourbon bar. Not worth thr price
Just got it and I was like....meh
As you know Matt, this one has been over hyped.
Thank you Matt! I bought a 2024 shenks @ $125 and didn’t investigate prior. Ya very disappointing and was hunting this Makers Mark and you pulled me out of the ditch! 👍
If you like Maker's at all, then you should get this bottle (only MSRP though).
woo hoo
Zzzzzz
