There's no way I'd be able to hang on to two bottles of anything for a year. So, well done you!! Incidentally I just made an apple and pomegranate cider from shop bought juice. Really nice. Don't think it'll hang around for a year though.
I think I drank half a gallon the first two weeks after fermentation and then I drank the other half like a month later and it was much better. Interestingly the fresh pressed juice wasn’t as good as the cheap frozen concentrate which was cleaner and clearer and cheaper.
It really surprised me, I wonder if it's because so many commercial cider makers use it that it's resulted in the expected cider taste being one that is from concentrate
I rarely age ciders but when you find that lone bottle in the back of the fridge after a long time its a pleasant surprise
It's always a joy to find beers you thought you'd completely finished!

Ha ha, going forward I'm going to try and avoid accidentally leaving bottles to age for ages! That cider sounds fab!
I have the same problem, but I can even much less barely get my cider into 2nd fermentation before it’s gone

Got 5 gallons in the fermenters
Time is a healer!
Absolutely is!
Maybe the fresh pressed cider oxidised a bit?
This could absolutely be the explanation!
Could the second bottle have aged too long? How long was the second bottle aged for the first tasting where you actually enjoyed it?
Could easily be the case. Think I only aged it for about 2 weeks when I enjoyed it
Interesting that the fresh pressed turned out worse.
