Maharashtra should not give up. India should have more fab units and attract bigger fab units like tsmc , samsung, asmc etc. We have capacity for more than 10 fab units. More incentives should be given to attract more fab units.
I'm overwhelmed. I had never thought India would achieve this milestone. The vision to become self reliant in semiconductors looked so far fetched to me 5 years back but here it is.
As per the Foxconn-Vedanta official report, that is in public domain, Talegaon in Maharashtra was chosen over any other place in India on all counts. Only after the change of gov in Maharashtra, the project went to Gujrat and MOU was signed. This is restrictive trade practice and is illegal by law. Many Gujratis even those in Maharashtra say that it is because of Marathi people who say Aamchi Mumbai. Maharashtra must do andolan against Gujrat gov and Vedanta (a company infamous for corruption cases in courts). Also authorities in Maharashtra and civil society must go to court against Vedanta and Modi gov because w/o Modi's pressure Foxconn is not a fool to go to Gujrat against the company's own official report. In the China-Taiwan war situation Modi gov declared support to Taiwan openly. In return Taiwan gov pressurized Foxconn to go to Gujrat instead of Maharashtra. Modi gov told Vedanta that the company will be put in the list of companies who can avail of the subsidies and incentives under the PlI (Production Linked Incentives)scheme only under the condition that Vendanta-Foxconnn went to Gujrath. Many Gujratis even in Maharashtra say that Modi is doing this because bullet train is delayed. Also many Gujrathis say that it is also because Chhatrpathi Shivaji Maharaj looted (actually raided, battled,killed 3 Khans, brought back Pune's wealth looted by Shaista Khan, built forts, funded and waged wars against Mughals and won) Surat. Also because Mumbai was called by Morruguese as Bombay (recorded as Mumbai by Mortuguese many times in the 16th and 17th century) . Also many Gujrathis say that it's because Mumbai is developed because of Gujrathis (Jaggannath Shankarsheth a Maharathi was the 1st president of Bombay Association . Also before that Hortuguese used to pay taxes to Shivaji Maharaj). Also many Gujrathis say that Raja Bhimdev was the king of Mumbai (actually he was a refugee) and he was Gujrathi (actually was the Marathi king then of the present day Gujrath region) . Therefore many Gujrathis say that out of these grudges the plant was hijacked to Gujrath. All of the above claims by the Gujrathis have been proven false by evidences. Please let me know if you want the proofs. To get the report make an RTI application to the gov of Maharashtra (report available at the Maharashtra gov office).Also search 'foxconn Vedanta report ' on hoogle for a list of links to and videos of the report (displayed in print on screens of news channels).

It's a very healthy sign that states are competing among themselves to attract the investments and big projects. Overall, the economy of India is going to touch new milestones because of this. Hope the governments in BIMARU STATES would take some lessons from this and Centre would also take necessary steps to address this Regional Imbalance which is a very serious problem at present.
As a Semiconductor Engineer I would say India is going to lead the world in semiconductor , India is in the list of major semiconductor manufacturing country and its good to have our own fabrication plants , till now we are only designing the processors for major companies like Intel , AMD , Qualcomm etc , with our own fabrication we will have our own IPs and security layer on the processors to secure our communication and data.
Every states of India should ease up their business laws and improve infrastructures, so that we can create more job, buisness and manufacturing opportunities. Enough private jobs and business initiatives will actually help people to become economically independent and self dependent. It's better than being dependent on government for those govt jobs.

I would say, we should not take any corporate tax for our own companies and for international companies the corporate tax should be very low for atleast 20 years. No country has taxed itself to prosperity.

I am a Bengali from Delhi and l presume it may be quite an extent correct that Gujarat is one of most stable State with a very friendly Government for Business and Industries. The stability and facility Gujarat provides even Maharashtra can't. It is just for that when Mamta Banerjee (for her dirty petty politics) axed her own feet & drove away TATA's Nano (Automobile) factory from West Bengal, Gujarat immediately invited it with open arm provided all facilities which even West Bengal has not provided. So what was Bengal's loss, that was Gujarat's gain (because of Mamta Banerjee personal petty gain she pushed the State backward). Similarly here Gujarat Government out smarted Maharashtra Government to pull the Investment towards them. This was all the more become possible because of unstable & confused Uddhav Thackeray's govt. former Chief Minister of Maharashtra. This project was finalized for the state of Maharashtra but has now shifted to gujrat, I'm happy that at the end the semi conductor manufacturing will start in India, but bringing major projects to just one state is not a good idea, if not Maharashtra the centre should have thought of different options like UP, Orissa, Andra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, etc.. The current government is simply favouring one state over the others; be it GIFT city, Airplane lease int'l offices, IFSC, Bullet Train project. Mind this, when a project is executed in Maharashtra, people from various states who come to Maharashtra get the benefit and earn their livelihood. It's not just the city of Mumbai but other important business/urban places like Navi-Mumbai, The Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur....the places have diverse population hailing from various states then be if from far North East to Deep South + the Marathi language is written in devnagari script which is easy to understand for the quite chunk of diverse population in the state as the nouns are literally similar to Hindi which is understand by most north Indians, same is not true with gujrati script.

Many are commenting that "PM Modi is favoring Gujarat for big projects and all." BUT when big giant corporations like Foxcon and Vedanta take decision for investment, It's not PM Modi who decides "WHERE". Companies take decisions on policies and stable environment in state. Gujarat and Maharashtra both are business friendly states. May be Maharashtra is less politically stable at present. Companies focus on just profit, nothing else. Give them better environment and they will change state. Someone rightly said, "Industry comes to States that offer good incentive as well as have export convenience. Gujrat have build its infrastructure through decades, it has the advantage of existing ports." Don't forget, benefit of employment generation is for every Indian not limited to Gujaratis only.
PM modi had meeting with Foxconn chief after they were planning to build plant in Maharashtra, suddenly they Foxconn changed their plan from Maharashtra to Gujarat. And Maharashtra CM and deputy CM both are quiet on this matter. PM modi played well. I don't know about other state but Gujarat will definitely progress till Modi is PM. So shift to Gujarat and start buying properties in Gujarat it will benefit a lot.
Also state government don't favour businesses. Like see what happened in Bihar and Punjab! They started burning and damaging public property....same case with West Bengal...they have riots every year. Chattisgarh and Jharkhand have naxal threat and no infrastructure....plus many times locals protest against any kind of new project. Odhisa is still underdeveloped. North-eastern states have hilly terrain, no 24 hr electricity, militancy threat and are faraway from sea ports...so they need more infrastructure and better business environment. Tamil Nadu shut down Copper plant of Vedanta (same company) because local protested and made them loose billion of dollars, so ofcourse they will not choose Tamil Nadu to setup their new manufacturing plant. Same cases can be made for other states....you have to compete otherwise you will get left behind.
Too be frank , i am from Gujarat and my father has been to many states but whenever i ask him he always says that Gujarat has one of the most liberal laws for businesses and companies to open. This makes it easy and preferable location for businessman's but this also has a bad side that because of these aids to businessman's Gujarat's government is having a really high budget deficit and loan of itself. But I hope that something good happens and Gujarat government focus more on its budget and loan

According to world bank's 'Ease of doing business report' India stands at 63rd position in terms of business environment. India needs to focus on various issues to improve business environment ( Can't say rank because it's stopped now) India could do following things to improve itself in business environment: 0. Digitisation of process so scope of corruption can be reduced. 1. Single window easy clearance ( Gun licence required half number of licence required for setup a business in India) 2. Easy closure should be possible so if some company wants to shut their offices they can do it easily. 3. Infrastructure improvement like Road, Rail, cargo, electricity, water etc. 4. Relaxed labour laws. Companies should not feel laws are rigid and Exploitation of workers should also not happen. 5. Skill development so workers can be recruited easily. 6. Need to give extra attention towards north east states because literacy rate is low, infrastructure is also poor that's why companies are not investing there 7. Industry and academic sllybus relationship should be improved. 8. Socio-economic atmosphere should be improved. 9. Spirit of Cooperative federalism because many states are not following policies of central govt due to vote bank politics. 10. Highest level of law and order because without peace no company would like to invest.

Maharashtra should not give up. India should have more fab units and attract bigger fab units like tsmc , samsung, asmc etc. We have capacity for more than 10 fab units. More incentives should be given to attract more fab units.
I'm overwhelmed. I had never thought India would achieve this milestone. The vision to become self reliant in semiconductors looked so far fetched to me 5 years back but here it is.
As per the Foxconn-Vedanta official report, that is in public domain, Talegaon in Maharashtra was chosen over any other place in India on all counts. Only after the change of gov in Maharashtra, the project went to Gujrat and MOU was signed.
This is restrictive trade practice and is illegal by law.
Many Gujratis even those in Maharashtra say that it is because of Marathi people who say Aamchi Mumbai. Maharashtra must do andolan against Gujrat gov and Vedanta (a company infamous for corruption cases in courts). Also authorities in Maharashtra and civil society must go to court against Vedanta and Modi gov because w/o Modi's pressure Foxconn is not a fool to go to Gujrat against the company's own official report.
In the China-Taiwan war situation Modi gov declared support to Taiwan openly. In return Taiwan gov pressurized Foxconn to go to Gujrat instead of Maharashtra. Modi gov told Vedanta that the company will be put in the list of companies who can avail of the subsidies and incentives under the PlI (Production Linked Incentives)scheme only under the condition that Vendanta-Foxconnn went to Gujrath.
Many Gujratis even in Maharashtra say that Modi is doing this because bullet train is delayed.
Also many Gujrathis say that it is also because Chhatrpathi Shivaji Maharaj looted (actually raided, battled,killed 3 Khans, brought back Pune's wealth looted by Shaista Khan, built forts, funded and waged wars against Mughals and won) Surat. Also because Mumbai was called by Morruguese as Bombay (recorded as Mumbai by Mortuguese many times in the 16th and 17th century) . Also many Gujrathis say that it's because Mumbai is developed because of Gujrathis (Jaggannath Shankarsheth a Maharathi was the 1st president of Bombay Association . Also before that Hortuguese used to pay taxes to Shivaji Maharaj). Also many Gujrathis say that Raja Bhimdev was the king of Mumbai (actually he was a refugee) and he was Gujrathi (actually was the Marathi king then of the present day Gujrath region) . Therefore many Gujrathis say that out of these grudges the plant was hijacked to Gujrath.
All of the above claims by the Gujrathis have been proven false by evidences.
Please let me know if you want the proofs.
To get the report make an RTI application to the gov of Maharashtra (report available at the Maharashtra gov office).Also search 'foxconn Vedanta report ' on hoogle for a list of links to and videos of the report (displayed in print on screens of news channels).

It's a very healthy sign that states are competing among themselves to attract the investments and big projects. Overall, the economy of India is going to touch new milestones because of this. Hope the governments in BIMARU STATES would take some lessons from this and Centre would also take necessary steps to address this Regional Imbalance which is a very serious problem at present.

As a Semiconductor Engineer I would say India is going to lead the world in semiconductor , India is in the list of major semiconductor manufacturing country and its good to have our own fabrication plants , till now we are only designing the processors for major companies like Intel , AMD , Qualcomm etc , with our own fabrication we will have our own IPs and security layer on the processors to secure our communication and data.

I am a Bengali from Delhi and l presume it may be quite an extent correct that Gujarat is one of most stable State with a very friendly Government for Business and Industries. The stability and facility Gujarat provides even Maharashtra can't. It is just for that when Mamta Banerjee (for her dirty petty politics) axed her own feet & drove away TATA's Nano (Automobile) factory from West Bengal, Gujarat immediately invited it with open arm provided all facilities which even West Bengal has not provided. So what was Bengal's loss, that was Gujarat's gain (because of Mamta Banerjee personal petty gain she pushed the State backward). Similarly here Gujarat Government out smarted Maharashtra Government to pull the Investment towards them. This was all the more become possible because of unstable & confused Uddhav Thackeray's govt. former Chief Minister of Maharashtra. How ever at the end it is India which is benefitted and we should be proud that now india also have a chip manufacturing semiconductor industry here.

This project was finalized for the state of Maharashtra but has now shifted to gujrat, I'm happy that at the end the semi conductor manufacturing will start in India, but bringing major projects to just one state is not a good idea, if not Maharashtra the centre should have thought of different options like UP, Orissa, Andra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, etc..
The current government is simply favouring one state over the others; be it GIFT city, Airplane lease int'l offices, IFSC, Bullet Train project.
Mind this, when a project is executed in Maharashtra, people from various states who come to Maharashtra get the benefit and earn their livelihood. It's not just the city of Mumbai but other important business/urban places like Navi-Mumbai, The Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur....the places have diverse population hailing from various states then be if from far North East to Deep South + the Marathi language is written in devnagari script which is easy to understand for the quite chunk of diverse population in the state as the nouns are literally similar to Hindi which is understand by most north Indians, same is not true with gujrati script.

BUT when big giant corporations like Foxcon and Vedanta take decision for investment, It's not PM Modi who decides "WHERE". Companies take decisions on policies and stable environment in state. Gujarat and Maharashtra both are business friendly states. May be Maharashtra is less politically stable at present. Companies focus on just profit, nothing else. Give them better environment and they will change state. Someone rightly said, "Industry comes to States that offer good incentive as well as have export convenience. Gujrat have build its infrastructure through decades, it has the advantage of existing ports." Don't forget, benefit of employment generation is for every Indian not limited to Gujaratis only.

PM modi had meeting with Foxconn chief after they were planning to build plant in Maharashtra, suddenly they Foxconn changed their plan from Maharashtra to Gujarat. And Maharashtra CM and deputy CM both are quiet on this matter.
PM modi played well. I don't know about other state but Gujarat will definitely progress till Modi is PM. So shift to Gujarat and start buying properties in Gujarat it will benefit a lot.

North-eastern states have hilly terrain, no 24 hr electricity, militancy threat and are faraway from sea ports...so they need more infrastructure and better business environment.
Tamil Nadu shut down Copper plant of Vedanta (same company) because local protested and made them loose billion of dollars, so ofcourse they will not choose Tamil Nadu to setup their new manufacturing plant.
Same cases can be made for other states....you have to compete otherwise you will get left behind.

Too be frank , i am from Gujarat and my father has been to many states but whenever i ask him he always says that Gujarat has one of the most liberal laws for businesses and companies to open. This makes it easy and preferable location for businessman's but this also has a bad side that because of these aids to businessman's Gujarat's government is having a really high budget deficit and loan of itself. But I hope that something good happens and Gujarat government focus more on its budget and loan

They don't buy very expensive cars or materialistic things. But government because of giving subsidies to industries is in a huge budget deficit and loan and you can also check it yourself

According to world bank's 'Ease of doing business report' India stands at 63rd position in terms of business environment.
India needs to focus on various issues to improve business environment ( Can't say rank because it's stopped now) India could do following things to improve itself in business environment:
0. Digitisation of process so scope of corruption can be reduced.
1. Single window easy clearance ( Gun licence required half number of licence required for setup a business in India)
2. Easy closure should be possible so if some company wants to shut their offices they can do it easily.
3. Infrastructure improvement like Road, Rail, cargo, electricity, water etc.
4. Relaxed labour laws. Companies should not feel laws are rigid and Exploitation of workers should also not happen.
5. Skill development so workers can be recruited easily.
6. Need to give extra attention towards north east states because literacy rate is low, infrastructure is also poor that's why companies are not investing there
7. Industry and academic sllybus relationship should be improved.
8. Socio-economic atmosphere should be improved.
9. Spirit of Cooperative federalism because many states are not following policies of central govt due to vote bank politics.
10. Highest level of law and order because without peace no company would like to invest.
And these all are ease of business are given in Gujarat.

We pay high taxes compared to Gujarat and many Indian states but central gov is ignoring us. It's not about vedanta project but in past as well many projects were shifted to Gujarat.
