    With icon going busy seems RUclips traffic is directing to the seamax and you are the man here, great video
    Seamax’s website is dated from 2022, are you aware of any new engine options?
    Is there no mixture lever on the 912?
    I’m currently flying a da20 with continental, and looking seriously at the seamax to get us in the water

      It's sad to see the difficulties some manufacturers like Icon, Searay, and Seamax are having. Hopefully everything works out!
      No mixture or carb heat controls on the Rotax. It's single lever and with the 912 ULS has pressure compensating carburetors. Seamax does offer a 912iS engine that is fuel injected.
      I genuinely love our Seamax but I do have concerns about the company's ability to build and deliver airplanes. There is a backlog of folks that have paid deposits and have been waiting a long time for their airplanes.
      Regardless of what aircraft you end up with, once you get your feet wet you'll be in love with aquatic aviation!

    I needed this. Thanks again, great video ! For a day of multiple flights, you will do the engine compartment check only once ? This seem to be the time consuming step

      Yes, unless I see fluid streaks or oil leaks, or I suspect something amiss, I will check the engine once before the first flight of the day.

    What's the reason for not using some sort of cotter pins r clips on bolts? Thanks for a great interesting informative video. Or maybe even some tension arrows where protruding would cause interference. As weight is such an issue. Have you thought about a lighter wife. Maybe a petite Asian lady. Fly much further and room few a few 6 packs.😜

      Good question. Seamax has decided to use these particular fasteners and until I need to change them to something different I'll continue to use the approved fasteners. So far, in a shear rather than tension condition, the specified bolts and nylon insert nuts are working just fine.

      @theflipflopfliers Absolutely. The plane is awesome. I literally can't think of anything cooler than rocking up to a restaurant on the water. The freedom of a bird carving your way through the skies. It's just perfect.

    I noticed that the tail fin has a fixed plate deflector on the port side. I have seen this on sailboats to trim the boat, is this similar and why?
    Also, are you able to fly inverted with this carbs? Have you tried 😊

      Thanks so much for watching! That tab is indeed a fixed trim tab for the rudder, which controls yaw. It uses airflow to provide, in this case, right rudder pressure to counteract the effects of P-factor and spiralling slipstream. It makes it so I don't have to hold right rudder pedal while flying.
      As to the carbs, any sustained negative G maneuvers will cause the engine to quit due to fuel starvation because the carbs aren't designed for it. This being said, positive G inverted flight would be theoretically possible but the Seamax is neither designed nor certified for such flight.

    Too long too much messing around takes the fun out of flying with all these safety checks each time you take off and land. Geese have to be a designer to make sure you check all the moving part. You need to have an engineering degree just to fly it.

      The video is longer than an actual preflight in practice, but I still budget 30 minutes to prepare for flight. Safety is our paramount concern and doing a thorough preflight is the best way to mitigate risk.
      A basic understanding of mechanics and science is all that's really needed, but I will agree that flying isn't for everyone!
      For me, the work is far outweighed by the fun!

      Far better to do a thorough preflight and avoid in-flight emergencies or, God forbid, catastrophes, as has happen many time in the past. Besides I enjoy the preflight. It focuses one's mind on the very serious task ahead - flying. It is a blast, but does require mental discipline and problem solving ability under pressure. Thank you for the great and very thorough video. Having flown in a SeaMax in Brazil, it was very informative and enlightening.
