I'm not sure how you can restrict Yajuj and Majuj to the sahaba (may Allah be pleased with them) when the message is to the ummah. Also, it show kuffar are counted as part of Yajuj and Majuj so the path of the Yajuj and Majuj is the path the disbelievers are on. For people will rise with those they love/follow. Therefore, the greater in status are Yajuj and Majuj, and the followers or those on their path are classed as Yajuj and Majuj. What the other group says makes sense. Regarding Isa (upon him be peace) defeating Yajuj and Majuj and their exponential numbers. It says wave after wave until they drink the lake (sea) dry. That would imply the first waves are defeated/defeatable. Rather, the past group won't be defeatable.
