Welcome to my brand new ship tour of Cunard's magnificent Queen Mary 2 (QM2). In this video, we'll be touring every single venue on this beautiful ship, from the Grand Lobby with sweeping red-carpet staircases, to the onboard Planetarium with its' huge high-definition projectors, to the Lido decks complete with swimming pools.
We're going to cover every bar, every restaurant, and everywhere that you could spend time onboard this ship, to help show you exactly how a day onboard the flagship of the Cunard Line could look.
QM2 was launched in 2004, and very recently in 2023 underwent a massive-scale refurbishment. I filmed this video during a 7-night Transatlantic Crossing from New York to Southampton, very soon following the refit. Fantastically, the ship is fully decorated for Christmas as a result - let me show you how beautiful it looked!

I never comment on videos but I must for this. Because it's the BEST full tour of the Queen Mary 2 Ive ever seen (and Ive watched them all) and with brilliant naration that is not full of nauseating useless facts/ information. Im intending to book my first ever cruise for myself and my service dog and your video has made my decision final and it's a yes. This is the only cruise I'd step foot on. Grand Ocean Liner. My mum did the transatlantic crossing for a big birthday. She had the best time. The best cruise she has taken.

Of all the ships we've been on, Queen Mary 2 is the best. A beautiful ship with great entertainment, food and speakers, cabins and crew. We have been on many other ships and though they also have positive things to be said, Cunard is without doubt the outstanding. one.

Hardly time to find my bearings on a ship this big [plus it'll be my first cruise] so this has been enormously helpful. Hope you enjoyed your trip. We're doing to 4 night to Bruges & Rotterdam. Did it around 10 years ago and amazed considering the size of the ship how easily it was to navigate around and see it all in 4 days

A very nicely done video. Probably the most comprehensive walkthrough of the QM2 I've seen with objective views. I particularly found your comment on the lingering scent of cigars and pipes in the Commodore Club very helpful as my wife is very sensitive to this too. Hopefully the opposite corner to the lounge where you went to was relatively odour free, cos that will be where we'll be when we go there. She's a truly beautiful ship, near iconic, and one of a kind left in the world. We've signed up for a Westbound Transatlantic cruise for June next year and are really looking forward to it.

You won’t have an issue over the other side - that’s where the piano is, so there’s fewer seats on that side, so you may need to go a little earlier! There are still loads of other beautiful spots to relax on this ship though - you’re right - a real icon!

I’ve booked a sailing in July to Norwegian fjords. The only reason I booked the cruise was for an ocean liner experience.

Absolutely love QM2. My favourite part of the ship was the Observation Deck (Deck 11).

I am an expat living in the US and a naturalized citizen. My wife and I will be going to the UK in July for some milestone birthdays of relatives. we are sailing back to NY on this magnificent bygone era form of transport, and we are both very. very excited about making this very unique trip back home to the US. Like other viewers, we have `binged` on the multitude of posts made by other RUclipsrs about their Cunard transatlantic crossing, and we very much look forward to viewing, what looks like, a very comprehensive and informative post by you. Excellent video. Spectacular ship. Have done two cruises on it. Secret is large ship with reasonable passenger population. Lots of space, if you want it. No shortage of activities. We loved the live music on board, available throughout the day in various venues.

Excellent job on this video! We were so excited to see it. We have booked a QM2 trip for next August to the fjords of Norway. This gave us a great feel for the ship and places we will definitely want to explore. We will have a "sheltered balcony" cabin, and I'm interested to see what we will think of that.

Been on her 3 times including 2 transatlantic. I love everything about her and enjoyed my time so much. My next cruise is not cunard but then im trying queen victoria twice.
Yeah, I loved my first experience onboard - she’s so special! QV is the only Cunard ship I haven’t tried - you must report back!

Hey! I’d imagine the decks will be a bit busier in July as you’ll probably get much better weather - it was freezing a few days during my time onboard, so only the brave explored the outside.
I can confirm that sauna’s lovely in a colder day though!!

This is one of the best and most comprehensive reviews of the QM2. Please though, try not to refer to her as a ‘cruise ship’. She is the last remaining Ocean Liner in service. She is designed completely differently to a cruise ship with a long bow, deep draft, thick steel, high waterline, and speeds up to 38 knots. Cruise ships aren’t anything like this and max out at 15 knots. Please familiarize yourself with the differences and the unique design by Dr Stephen Payne. Thank you. 🙏

I loved your video Fraser, very nicely filmed and narrated. I do have one nit to pick. You are a soft spoken person and your voice is so mellow I had to put the video on max volume to a blue tooth speaker to hear you. Imagine the unwelcome startle every few
minutes when an ad broke in at top volume. I think you need a stronger mic. (& for all the critics out there, I am aware one can pay fees to reduce ads).

Great Video. I noticed that there was a smoking area on deck 8, was there another smoking area? Once again great video.
Hey! I actually only noticed this section at the back of the ship - I didn’t see another, but then the cruise I was on was cold weather, so didn’t spend a huge amount of time outside. One of the reasons you’ll find it’s restricted is that the decks are all real wood, so smoking is a really high risk elsewhere… Thanks for watching, and sorry I can’t give you 100% confirmation!
Fraser thanks for another great video! Really enjoyed your touring of the Queen Mary 2. Hope to some day sail on her! My wife and I will be doing a cruise on MSC Euribia, 9 - 16 Feb 2024 out of Southhampton to Northern Europe. We will be staying in Yacht Club suite so will have very nice private areas to enjoy. I am hoping that MSC Euribia is as nice as MSC Virtuosa which I travelled on last December 2022. Yacht club is very nice so I am looking forward to all the special attention. Watching many vloggs on MSC Euribia it seems they are giving really cheap cruise prices and the ship has been very packed which has produced some bad reviews. Well Happy Cruising and keep up the great vloggs!

We never thought much about going on a cruise. I just happened to look at an email from a discount cruise travel site. Saw the Canada Short Break on the Queen Mary 2 from Quebec to NY. We talked about it a little but didn’t make a decision one way or the other. My daughter called and said her friend and his mom had just taken on Queen Mary 2 Christmas Caribbean cruise and loved it. They decided to go for Christmas 2024 and they invited her mother-in-law and my husband and I to go too. We booked it last week. So the family will be enjoying Queen Mary 2 for Christmas and New Year’s 2025. Started watching You Tube videos about cruises and saw yours. Sending it to my husband and daughter to view. I was excited but after watching, now I can’t wait for December 2024. Thank you so much for this informative video. What a beautiful ship.

Thanks very much for posting this video. She was beautiful ship. I didn't know that she is smaller than many Princess ships. I like her better than new ship, Queen Anne. I hope to take Transatlantic cruises with her. She looks more like old classic ships. Do they still require suit on formal gala night? I found out they have about 15 single cabins. I like indoor pool and atrium. Are swimming pool heated? Thanks
Thanks for watching! In terms of the formal nights, yes - suit needed for them! I think the swimming pools are heated - certainly the indoor one anyway.
That said, I didn’t try the outdoor ones - was a bit chilly coming across the Atlantic in December, haha!

Hey, thanks very much! So the internet cafe computers aren’t ‘chargeable’ to use, but you do need to log in to your wifi package to browse the internet in here!

What is my favorite venue on this ship? I've seen so many, I cannot make a choice. But lots of details I loved. For example the curtains, they klook so pretty and make the place feel homely. Not the cold windowframe I've seen so far. And then the matrasses on the loungers. The blannkets, the spa. I just see one solution...I have to make a cruise n this ship! When? I don't know but I have to win the lottery first I guess. I wish you a merry Christmas and enjoy your time at home with family and friends. 💝🎄🎁

I have a question that I don't seem to find answers anywhere....maybe you can help🤔 we're planning a Med .cruise on QM in the fall. We are not drinkers...maybe 1 cocktail once in a while. We love wine and bubbly...when you get the wine pkg ...and you have a glass a bubbly in the bar...do they keep the same bottle for the next day and serve flat bubbly to us or the actually serve fresh? I know it's a silly question....but nobody has considered this!!! THANKING YOU ❤❤❤LOVE FROM MONTREAL❤
Hey, thanks so much for watching! I’ve never had a wine package onboard, but know that overall drinks packages might be best for you, if it’s bubbly you’re drinking.
If you’re buying a set number of bottles, I guess they’d need to try to preserve what you don’t drink? However, maybe best asking the cruise line - it’s a good question!!

Hey! Had a really great cruise - there’s something just SO relaxing about the Transatlantic! For the first few days, I did find the layout confusing to be really honest, but it’s always funny how quickly a new ship becomes ‘the norm’ for you. A few days in, I was totally at home on here!
Thank you for this review. Did you actually stay on this ship? If so, which type of room did you book and which deck? I have 3 bookings on this ship in solo ocean view rooms on Decks 2 and 3. I was lucky to get those as they go pretty fast. Good to know so many venues are on these decks!

The problem with the Red Lion is that the food is made to American tastes, not to British standards.
I find it strange you keep referring to the Queen Mary 2..saying Givon certain amenities that are found… Im surprised how old this ship is…..😮

Do you think the Cunard ships are a bit dated for a more premium cruise? I know it’s traditional and classy but just wondered if the decor seems as luxurious as some other more modern cruise lines?
Really good question. It’s VERY different to what you’d find on, for example, the new celebrity ships, but I’d argue their cruise product is fundamentally different.
I’ve really enjoyed both QE and QM2 this year, and feel they offer premium, traditional, British luxury really well.

It sounds like German, but is a very special sort of. A bit like a dialect, close to Bavarian.
People that speak proper German, socalled "High German" definitely need subtitles 😉
Have they replaced or fixed the seats in the Planetarium?
I didn’t see any with any problems, and found them to be really comfy. I’d assume they’ve fixed them?
@@FraserAtSea It was not that they were not comfy; many of the seats had broken reclining mechanisms.

There were a few issues I noted at the start of the year. You might be able to verify that they have been resolved:
- Broken window on deck 7 at the entrance to the spa area opposite the reception
- Very shoddy repair made in the lift in staircase D; I can not remember which lift it was but one of them had a very poor temporary repair made near the flor.
- Notable black stains on the backs and side of furniture throughout the Commodore and Corinthian lodges.
Hey! Unfortunately I’m not on the ship anymore - I was only on for 7 nights. I can confirm that she’s looking beautiful, but can’t confirm the specific repairs below unfortunately - sorry!
