Bought the Kia Seltos GT Line 8 weeks after getting rid of our CX3 which was great. Considered all cars in this segment but without doubt the Seltos is 10/10. Have done country and city driving and received fantastic fuel economy even down to 5.9/100 on Country roads at limit. Power is smooth and plentifull.Love technology and safety. Wife loves the heated seats and staring wheel. HUD makes driving and eyes on the road easy. The limit speed function is awesome for stopping speed creep. Backseat and all-round space is fantastic and beats the Mazda cx30 hands down as that car feels really cramped all round. The only feature missing is electric tail gate. Kia gas really got it right. We are in our late 50s and yet this car is pitched at the younger m market. It ticks all lour boxes. Well done KIA.
My older parents (mum (65) and dad (70)) given their age were looking for something small with a higher hip point that would be worry and fuss free. They test drove the lower end Seltos (that's all that was in stock at the time) against he Hyundai Kona and the VW T-cross. He ended up going with the Kona. Dad loved the Seltos but stock was tight. It looks good, is easy to get in and out of and the CVT did not bother him. He described the feel as 'solid' and 'smooth'. He probably would have bought this if the dealers had some stock. I did not drive the Seltos. He liked the VW but was worried about reliability given the VW dry clutch fiascos. I also drove the VW and it has a truly excellent ride, excellent packaging and a very nice feel (nicely weighted controls etc). All the usual VW things. The little 3 cylinder was characterful and had plenty of low down torque. I liked it despite not being the target market (M, 35, dad, 330i G20 and previously an SP25). The DSG was not obviously jerky. It was also a little more expensive than the Kia and Hyundai. He ended up with the Hyundai Kona. Felt solid. Was simple to operate. Long warranty. Mechanically simple and unlikely to cause any problems. They chucked in roof racks (dad drives to the beach to surf most days) and despite the ride being a little harsh the deal with done. Overall in the last few years I have been hugely impressed with any Kia/Hyundai. I rented a Soul in LA last year and I was so impressed with the ride and how well put together it was. Not a single squeak or rattle and a great ride.
generally VW dct's are super reliable ...they are also better than Kia's - we have had both - but Kia's DCT is fine when you get use to it...its the CVT - especially Nissan ones that are more of a problem.
@@kloppskalli Because if I'm driving between my home town of Adelaide to Broken Hill with my family on board and the car gets a flat I would like to be able to change it on the side of the road with a proper spare then continue our journey safely at my chosen speed.
@@jaisabai4155 - couldn’t agree more. It’s not something you need every day. But when you do need it, it’s kinda critical. Glad to see manufacturers generally moving back to at least a space saver. Repair kits seem like a sick joke to me.
For me, the key feature of the GT line that is a deal breaker for lower spec trims is the LED headlights. Without them as an option (and currently it isn’t) I won’t even consider the S, Sport or Sport+. Even though the GT line is also above my ideal budget.
I love my Kia Seltos GT-line! It took a while to find a two-tone yellow regional Victoria, but I've had one for over a month now with zero complaints... The modern tech and safety features are so convenient and easy to use, only took me a couple of days to get used to all the functions. And I love the amount of space, perfect for when I start my own family!
agree - more Skoda reviews by Australian journalists would be great. Appears that Skoda's are undervalued here, whereas I've heard they are some of the bestsellers in the UK.
@@larissah4084 They are even used as Taxis in some European countries, which highlights their reliability. I own a Karoq and have driven it everyday for a year now, it is miles ahead of any Kia offering in the mini Suv category.
I like the Skodas, and the trim levels for their down-under releases are generally excellent. I know several people (all anecdotal, not a statistical analysis) that own Skoda cars and have heard nothing but good things. Rented an Octavia once, it was great. The only thing that still gives me pause on them is the volume of sales in Australia and hence the after sales service and support. Shipping parts from Europe could be expensive and involve long waits. Not saying that will happen, it just factors into my decision making. I think the Karoq looks excellent and I also had the Kamiq on my shortlist. The Chasing Cars channel has quite a few Skoda reviews.

All I can say is you’re easily pleased or you’re being paid to advertise this car. Amazing how you can do without everything this thing doesn’t have, including a decent ride.

Not having heated seats isnt a deal breaker for me. I think Sport or Sport+ would be the best option.
