JVAN gears are amazing. I've been using their 13:1 set in my 32rps T238 BL SSG build for 4 months now, replaced the SHS gearset. They're better machined than SHS and the timing is much better for high rps. Just keep in mind that the tappet release timing on 16tooth gears is so tight that you can't short stroke on release side AT ALL. All short stroking must be done on pickup.

PME means Pre Mature Engagement. It's where either the piston OR the tappet plate gets picked up too early and causes failures such as damaging piston, gears, bearings (if installed), massive drop in fps, horrible fps consistency, etc. I dont have a video about it yet but I recommend searching youtube about "airsoft pme". There is some damn good videos that explain it in depth.
Awesome gear set's mine just arrived the other day and i will be ordering more for my older builds to refresh them and the battery you are using are pretty good to ,im using a 720mah 11.1v 100c 200c burst in my pdw buttstock
I have an older A&k that I replaced the spring in to boost fps and range. Then life and Covid happened and I’m just picking it back up. Locked gears after a cycle or two. These solve that, I’m gathering? My Airsoft store that was local went out of business during Covid, but before that, the tech suggested a high torque gear set.
Lock up could of been because of a number of things. Cant say these gears will fix your problem when the problem could be something else. It could if just been cycling too fast or too strong of a spring for the OEM gears to handle, could of been because of a brief bb jam, etc. However these gears are definitely alot stronger than the OEM gears with the addition of a smoother sounding airsoft gun. What spring, battery voltage, and motor? Any idea what internally failed?
I have never seen 19 teeth sector high torque gear sets, never seen any high speed 19 teeth gear sets either. I don't think that there is a brand that makes them, only seen 18:1 gears. There was a mod you could do with some brands to get 19 teeth sector 13:1 gear set. On some brands the two halfs of the sector is held together by 2 screws. On some brands those 2 holes where in the same place on both a 18:1 19 teeth sector and on a 16 teeth 13:1 sector. So you could buy booth those gear sets and remove the upper part of the 19 teeth sector and the 16 teeth sector, and then put the upper part of the 19 teeth sector on the lower part of the sector that is 13:1 ratio. Then you got a 19 teeth sector that mesh with 13:1 spur gears. In theory you could do the same to get high torque (as long ad they are straight cut and not helical) 19 teeth gears, if you could find gears that have sectors that are hold togerher by 2 screws. The holes just have to match.
Thankfully these came out just before I stripped one of the gears on mine. My dumbass had the hop too high and I got a stuck piston and it wasn't a simple lockup like I was hoping. Since tripping the anti-reversal did nothing, I opened the gearbox to see if I could manually reset it and then I see a metal chunk in the sector gear and that was because the spur gear stripped. I should be fine even if I want a m,150. Ideally, I want 1.88j on .45's.
These look really nice, but I'm more interested in the solink helical set you have listened as "coming soon". Do you have any idea when those and the DSG set are coming out? I've been looking forward to them. Also thanks for the explanation of the tappet PME on the SHS 19t gears, I didn't even know that was an issue.
They should arrive in the next week or two. DSG, 18:1, and 13:1 will be avaliable by then. Join the discord channel if you haven't already for product updates!
i got the pandora set to solve this, before i got that i took the sector apart and rotated the bottom half 180 degrees making the cut off at the end of the sector. i did it initially to try an air break but it didn't fit the new type of retro arms sr25 piston i have. it fixed the tappet pme with the t238 but i couldn't use precocking if u like sr25's check out the ec-909 on tiwangun. its based off of the larue predatobr
I got the pandora's too! Working on a video comparison for that to these new gearset. I will say that Pandora gears are more noisey imo but still ALOT better than the SHS/ROCKET/BEGADI and OEM. Id like to get my hands on an ec-909 at some point and do a video review of the internals vs the cyma platinum.
its weird u say that, my sr25 pandora set is a bit noisy compared to the dsg set i got which is almost silent. but the t238 cycles it so fast its bearable.
The Sr25s are one of my favorite platforms to run in airsoft and would love to see more sr25 tech videos.
Me too! Im working on another comparing these gears to the Retro Arms Pandora gearset.

You should see the latest short I made of the Calico Jack I just finished.

I appreciate that! Your words inspire me. Thanks!
Glad to see the SR25 gears are finally getting some love! We've been suffering with those SHS sets and their issues for far too long lol.
So ridiculous that its been this long.
Hi, thanks for the video. Can you tell me what "PME" means? You talk about tappet plate PME. Thanks

Good guess!!

They sound sooo good 😮
What pinion meshes well with them?
SHS/ROCKET pinions. Heck even the stock pinions on Solink and T238 motors mesh really well! Jvan now makes their own pinions.
Great video Wys! Night and day difference with the gear sets, finally the SR25 crowd doesn’t need to suffer with stock sets any longer.
Agreed!
