So I might be confused here is a hen and chick considered a succulent? I am wanting a topiary shaped like a small Xmas tree (hopefully using succulents and hen and chicks) to be used as a centerpiece that I can decorated foe each holiday, I.e. Xmas, Easter, the 4th, and so on. Any ideas anybody please ?! And what is this pot called I forgot ? Your yard is absolutely beautiful ! Would love having all that to look at everyday but I have to scale down since I am somewhat disabled, love gardening but everything has to be indoors for me 🤢

Lisa Lull hens and chicks are like succulents and a lot of times in arrangements with them. The pot is I think made for growing strawberries but works for hens and chicks too 😊

How long does it take a "hen" to produce a "chick"?

I believe that terracotta pot is a strawberry pot. Does the same thing as the hens and chicks but you get more berries in a smaller space. Awesome yard. Blessings from western Canada.

MistyMoma you are probably right!! I have seen strawberries in something similar but didn’t know they are called like that! 😊

Thanks for the tour! Makes me want to do an outdoor tour of my plants, though it would take forever. There are just so many of them. Deer are a major problem here. They are extremely overpopulated and will eat anything. I have seen them eat rose bushes, Euphorbias, hellebores, daturas, digitalis, etc... plants that nothing will eat due to thorns or toxicity.

Fish&Cars you just make your in parts 😄. Same here. They ate my raspberry bushes, cherry three whatever branch they could reach, they even tried boxwood but spit it because obviously it’s too bitter 😄

Do you have trouble with deer and hostas? Your garden is beautiful!

Jane Vt. Not anymore since I buy invisible fence spray that smells bad to deer but doesn’t harm plant. Usually one bottle of 13 dollars is enough for all the landscaping during the warm season.

Thanks for sharing! I love it when succulents take over a section and end up a little different than what you expect. You have a really beautiful yard. ^^

Beautiful garden! And love all the Sempervivum you have. I’ve been very into them this year and have purchased a bunch of new ones for my containers. Can’t wait for more chicks to show up.

So I might be a little confused here is a hen and chick considered a succulent ? Can I make a topiary out of these or mix and match these both to make a topiary for my table. I am wanting to make something hopefully shaped like a tree (hopefully out of succulents ) that can be decorated for all holidays ! Without spending an arm and a leg. Any ideas ?

10:52 may be variegated weigela like is in my garden :) Great tour, very jealous of your hostas, we can't grow them as slugs and snails demolish them

these little 'golden nuggets' are so pretty if I see some in a garden centre here in Europe I'll absolutely get one :) also good to know some have medicinal properties, interesting.
Loved your snow cherry tree, so beautiful :) I am a sucker for bonsai or bonsai-ish looking trees 😍 actually any miniature looking plants are my weak spot :)
