La mejor versión de esta aria que he escuchado en mi vida, ¡qué potencia, qué coloraturas, qué fiato, qué agudos, qué graves, qué tesitura, inmejorable!
Having done RUclips auditions of "Una voce poco fa", I find Jennifer's the most pleasing performance of all. I absolutely love her voice and the emotional and artistic energy of her rendition. Great playing by the South Korean Orchestra too!
I would hardly say that Ms. Larmore wreaked havoc on her voice. She's past 50 now and still sings Rossini better than most anyone out there. Rossini is DIFFICULT to sing, and most singers can't handle it after a certain age; some never. You need to keep the instrument in good shape. We all have a certain color to our voices, and it can sound different from piece to piece. I, for one, absolutely love the timbre of Ms. Larmore's voice, and she has long been one of my favorite singers.
Radiant girl, the sweetness combined with jaw-dropping dynamics and coloratura make JL the Numero Uno Mezzo-Coloratura! Love her voice and her presence, too.
Wow! Wonderfully rich voice.Sure of her technique.Lovely mezzo with a good range. In 60 years of listening to many opera stars singing this, I have to place her one of my favourites.
I don't think it's wrong for people to disagree on how a singer sounds. People just hear things differently. Sometimes you really enjoy something, sometimes you don't. Classical singing is really subjective. Just because you are a fan of a particular singer (I am an admire of Larmore) doesn't mean you have to absolutely relish everything they do. Sometimes, Callas and Horne drive me nuts. Other times, they are sublime.
Wow! Astonishing technique. I´ve heard of her for a long time but never had the opportunity to appreciate her art. With no doubt a performance that represents a vocal class itself!
OK! so what, a vowel was back every now and then, such things never really worry me, but one has to admit, this is a very special and rare kind of mezzo-voice. I wll give still give her an A-plus for the sheer excitement she brings to singing this music. She is definitely unique.
what does she think "Rosina" is???? why is she "shouting" & "crying" ???? I think there is some misunderstanding, in terms of language & culture, as well as techniques?? the way she deliver "...ma"!! wow. simply hysterical. Rossini phrases should never be "attacked" like this, though majority of audience in Korea might not know the difference between Rossini and broadway musicals!
As always, Larmore is completely on fire and sprinting towards the oxygen tanks! I adore it! For those critical of her interpretation, I will say, as a composer, that I may have a set idea of what I want in a piece, but often singers find things MUCH more insightful and interesting over the course of a pieces performance life. Let the aria be what it is meant to be.. fire and bravura!
Rosina is a late teenager or early 20-something; she is going to go from crying one minute, laughing the next, to being haughty the next: that's the way girls of that age are. Wonderful performance!
For me , she sang in the wrong fach ... She IS no lyric Mezzo ... She IS dramatic, you hear right ! She sounds like an Azucena, Amneris or Eboli, or a Lady Macbeth ... Not like a Rosina ...
I'm surprised by the criticism of her vocal style. Rosina is a young girl, and she is a bit on the hysterical side. I liked this interpretation. I think her voice is lovely and beautifully produced. She sings on the voice and her vocal line is perfect. For me the bottoms are a tad dark and a bit bottled sounding, but I'd love to hear her live, first, before making an assumption that this is always how her voice sounds. And frankly, at 50, she's singing Rossini much better than most.
@CatalinaDM56 Many of the best conservatories in the world are in the United States and many of the top-singing performers in the world right now are Americans.
Yeah, she is working hard. The orchestra is too big. Look, I really like Jennifer Larmore, the recording used for the Una voce poco fa competition is really much better, and I love it. No,Rosina isn't meek at this point, but there still should be more dynamic variation. I don't agree, a mezzo can sound just as youthful as a soprano, it has nothing to do with the timbre.
Almost as significant as her great voice, and the new Grammy (!) is that she's an unpretentious non-scandel-noodel ANTI-DIVA with a real sense of humor!!!
where's the human spirit here?.. she is a beautiful singer and she's "out there" singing...negative comments are well... just.. negative.. i dunno...i commend anyone who develops their' talent and actually uses it.. brava jennifer
Does everyone call her JeLa? I haven't heard (seen) that before today and it seems weird. I have worked with her before and it seems like she would be entertained by it, but I dunno, I wouldn't want to be compared with Jennifer Lopez if I was a professional opera singer.
@CatalinaDM56 Sadly, overdarkening of her voice has wrecked havoc on her voice. There's a reason one doesn't hear such dark sounding mezzos (or other voice types) anymore...our science of the voice and vocal pedagogy has progressed far enough to show us such voice types are exceedingly rare and most people (like Ms. Larmore) who do use such voices do it with false darkening and the resulting pressure leads to eventual vocal collapse. Just look at Maria Callas.

Great mezzo! Nice dark voice!
Какоц богатый голос, мастерское исполнение и сама красавица.
Amazing! Wonderful control over her voice. She can go loud to soft to loud again in one breath at some points.

And complete lack of technique.

Her sister was my literature teacher at North Gwinnett High School

Rich voice! I love her! Bravo
FANTASTIC !
ヴァレンティーニ=テッラーニ、グローリア・スカルキの系統の、キリッと澄んだもち声の正統派ロッシーニ歌手のお1人。
素晴らしい!
She sang the long belted notes longer than the the other singers with this aria.. which is nice because we always hear a short belted ending high note
Sonny Italiano where is belting? it's head voice lol
She's wonderful, what a powerful voice!! BRAVA!!
I really enjoyed!:)
Bravo!!!
WOW .. WOW... WOOOOOOW
Fantastic Lady. Beautiful performance. And she is American Love it.

The best interpretation!!!Great voice...
Nope. Listen to a true contralto or mezzo.
@@xxsaruman82xx87 And that is an argument?
@@georggoplen24 Larmore‘s voice isn’t that of a true mezzosoprano, her voice is that of undeveloped soprano.
what the hell.... that is an incredible sound. From what I hear, I guess she's singing dramatic soprano gigs now too.
Well done!!!!
Rosina is a late teenager or early 20-something; she is going to go from crying one minute, laughing the next, to being haughty the next: that's the way girls of that age are. Wonderful performance!
Quelle politesse exquise de s'habiller ainsi en corée, en plus elle est superbe vêtue de cette façon
Jeeeeeeeee!!!
the note at 2:24 is an a natural, and a nice one, too.
Oh my the voice 😍😍😍😍 so powerful . Is she a dramatic mezzo-soprano? I love dramatic sopranos and mezzo-sopranos
For me , she sang in the wrong fach ...
She IS no lyric Mezzo ... She IS dramatic, you hear right !
She sounds like an Azucena, Amneris or Eboli, or a Lady Macbeth ... Not like a Rosina ...
She sounds likes she's singing Brunnhilde.
i'm happily married ;) but thanks! :D
haha, I guess 3 other people did too :D I can't listen to it anymore without thinking about that.
I am indeed! ;)
good job
it makes like a police car at 2:26
Love her Rosina
what the hell.... that is an incredible sound.

very deep singing
lucky you
@CatalinaDM56 Many of the best conservatories in the world are in the United States and many of the top-singing performers in the world right now are Americans.
she sounded a lot better like 10 years earlier
Gorgeous woman, gorgeous voice, I would have loved to kiss her hand.
Meravigliosa!! Eguaglia la Callas!
Damn she could be in soprano arias like o mio babbino, vissi d'arte etc...
bella voce e buon italiano
@Tenoroso1
I guess the word i was looking for was petulant...she does it perfectly!
which one?
Great!! I love her but Bartoli´s coloratura is the best. She is the queen of coloratura nowadays!

Almost as significant as her great voice,

Prefere soprano in the role of Rosina, but, to be honest, Jeniffer does it good - with a good mezzo Rosina can be same joy as when soprano is singing.
where's the human spirit here?.. she is a beautiful singer and she's "out there" singing...negative comments are well... just.. negative.. i dunno...i commend anyone who develops their' talent and actually uses it.. brava jennifer
The character I mean.
ok;-)
she's a got a very good voice, but I'm more into Ann Wilson, both voice and looks ;)
Lets see, Unuh voce poco fuh.. I thought this was una.... voce poco fa.... AH vowels.. not uh vowels.. What a distortion.
Does everyone call her JeLa? I haven't heard (seen) that before today and it seems weird. I have worked with her before and it seems like she would be entertained by it, but I dunno, I wouldn't want to be compared with Jennifer Lopez if I was a professional opera singer.
girl?
I was certainly amazed at the volume, but it was too overbearing. It lost its playfulness. I enjoyed listening to it, but she seemed just too pumped.
guess you also like alison moyet then?
fratzickaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
No mic needed :)
Yes, actually. Her voice is tiny.
@@xxsaruman82xx87 Oh, okay
@@xxsaruman82xx87 stop lying
@@itzmetee3459 No, you lol
She is a real dramatic Mezzo ... These Lyric and Coloratura Roles are not Made for her ... She sings like an Azucena, Amneris or Eboli ...
funny, could be an ambulance too

This song should be full of fun
Great voice But she always frown in high note part...
I get mad at 2:16
