  • This is my first attempt at a Lister/Listeroid electrical diesel engine starter. I first tried an air motor, it worked but it ran away uncontrolled once and tore itself to pieces.
My plan is to have the bar remain separate and to have it mounted on the frame so it's easy to access. This is the first iteration, and I'm sure there will be future improvements. But I'm going to call this a complete success!

Use a normal 10 Amp pushbutton, a lot easier. The small relay may only draw 2 Amps or so. The Starter current is controlled by the starter solenoid anyway.

This was the only switch I had on hand at the time, but I'll definitely be putting in a more appropriate one before I sell it. Thanks for the comment, I love your channel.

Could have just pivoted the starter motor and used your bar lever to press it against the flywheel, although I can see it’s work in progress, first class job .

Fairlane Products RR-502 urethane wheel, 6.6 Duramax starter, SuperStrut, starter solenoid, 12v battery and cables, roller bearings, welder, miscellaneous other items you'll be able to figure out.

@@NoelBarlau thank god sir....!! Thank you very much ❤❤ BTW can you do one more favour for me pls??
Can you tell the problem or any difficulties while making or using this?

@@superunited9916 I'd have used a different switch, the one I show in the video is a starter amperage rated switch and is far too heavy duty for the job of supplying current to a solenoid coil. Otherwise I'm quite happy with how it works.

@@NoelBarlau can you answer my one question please? 😅 actually I'm doing engineering and tomorrow is my viva about my project and my project is "development of self starter for diesel engine" And i choose this design.... So can you tell me is this starter can work on different relatable engine? I mean is this portable?

@@superunited9916 If I were going to make it portable, I'd add a hinged rubber foot like you might find at the bottom of some ladders, and also come up with a high power lightweight battery - perhaps using four Headway 38120 cells in series, and moving the solenoid and motor to the handle. It should be able to be condensed into a completely portable unit with those modifications.
