Warm up bowl.....love it....would be my only bowl....lol. The Rairaimen looks soooo interesting. Would definitely have to have it....after my warm up bowl. Keep up your great videos.
Hey Frank, enjoyed taking your tour back in February '19. Glad you have a RUclips channel now, watching these videos help us get over having to cancel our trip to Osaka, Kyoto and Fukuoka in April :(
Michael - great to hear from you and hope you've been keeping well during these turbulent times. Yes, hopefully the videos provide some ramen solace in the meantime. When travel is possible again and you're back, I'm sure Osaka, Kyoto, and Fukuoka will just be that much more magical (with a bigger buildup) 😊
Wow, the Rairaimen looks so rich and tasty! It's so unusual too, so I would have to have that one. Amazing, and it just shows how much variety there is - I'm regularly surprised and always discovering something new! Thank you, Frank 😁
Loved this! I thought it had yama imo in it but wow!! Another great ramen review!!! Does rairaimen mean anything? Just curious. Does ramen change as the seasons change? Cant wait! Keep up the great work!👍🏿😀
Great observation skills - it almost did look like yama imo in there! Glad you enjoyed the video! As to rairaimen, it actually includes the kanji / Chinese character for thunder, perhaps meant to evoke a powerful image of thunderous ramen 😃
After watching your video, I checked out the locations of those shops on google map as usual so I could add them to my tokyo ramen file for my next visit, and I noticed an interesting little shop Aoshima Shokudo in the same neighborhood with pretty good reviews. Just wondering if you have eaten there? And what do you think of it?
Aoshima Shokudo makes a brief appearance at 1:12 in this video 😃 It's a great ramen shop, specializing in Nagaoka (up North in Niigata) style shoyu ramen with ginger. I think I'm going to feature them in another video separately, along with some of the other lingering Akihabara ramen shops!
This may seem like a random comment lol but you seem like a pretty in-shape guy. I always feel a bit guilty even eating one bowl - is it not super unhealthy to eat it all the time or is it not as bad as people may think? I enjoyed this vid, I remember getting the limited kakesoba (nothing but soup and noodles) at Shinosoba Tanaka Second years ago. You have me craving ramen now.
Not random at all - I get asked that a lot 😊 1 bowl of ramen is normally 450 to 700 calories or so..so it can add up. But there are definitely worse foods out there. I think balance and staying active (I walk everywhere) is key - I ate 3 bowls today...tomorrow will probably take a break from ramen, as sad as it will be 😀
I like how you describe each ramen that you eat. Me, I’d probably be like “it’s good!” Or “it’s too salty or bland..” such basic words! Hahaha.. Also, next time if it’s possible, can you please tell us how to get to the ramen shop from the station if it’s close by/walking distance? Thank you! 😊
Glad you enjoyed the video and the ramen descriptions! Haha, I know what you mean - I myself sometimes have a hard time coming up with the right words and despite all the adjectives I used, I still said "sooo good" probably over 4 times 😂 Maybe in the future, I can make it easier to understand where these ramen shops are relative to the station - I understand what you mean! In the meantime, please feel free to reference my blog - I include links to the ramen shops there, including maps (in the YT video description).
Let me know which bowl you crave the most!
My wife and I live in Tokyo, and we went here after watching this video, and it was SO good. Thank you for the recommendation!
So happy you both enjoyed the ramen there!! 😃
Foreigners who have seen this channel are very lucky because they have learned that ATARIYAs "Ramen" and "Rairaimen" are very delicious.
Very delicious, the best! Thank you for the nice words.
Warm up bowl.....love it....would be my only bowl....lol. The Rairaimen looks soooo interesting. Would definitely have to have it....after my warm up bowl. Keep up your great videos.
Haha, the follow up bowl might just need to be a few hours after the warm up one 😃
You'd love the Rairaimen!

Ohhhhhhhh that first bowl of spicy miso bowl got me craving it. The chicken ramen looks seriously delicious
That is an unsung hero of the miso ramen world (Sapporo miso ramen is most common). The chicken ramen there is awesome 👍
I would love to try the rairaimen.
Sooo good, sooo unique.
That Rairaimen!!! Can't wait to try it!
Their top seller for good reason 😊
Wow, the Rairaimen looks so rich and tasty! It's so unusual too, so I would have to have that one. Amazing, and it just shows how much variety there is - I'm regularly surprised and always discovering something new! Thank you, Frank 😁
Thanks for watching! The ramen world is indeed a varied one and I'm also always discovering new things. Will keep highlighting these very things 👍
雷々麺は珍しくて美味しそう!!宮崎の料理をめちゃ食べたい !
凄く珍しいです!両方とも最高です!!
Omgosh they all look SO yummy!! Drooling here!!
Haha, they are 😃
OMG the Rairaimein looks great!
So different from any bowl out there!
Never seen anything like that rairaimen, sounds really interesting
Very unique - unlike anything out there!
I can imagine the rairaimen would be particularly welcome in winter ... it looks v.hearty ❤️😃
For sure! Definitely hits the spot any season, but maybe that heartiness is most welcome in the Winter!
All! So hungry!!!
Haha, always the best response 😊
It's fantastic. I want to eat too. I love the food so much~
Happy to hear that 😊
FINALLY a 5 am ramen upload. you kept us waiting far too long for this one pal. 😠
😉
Haha, totally. I had some things the past few weeks but back to regular content now.
Champon champion noodles 💪❤️ looks so good!!
I'm a big fan of champon noodles - nice and thick and go extremely well with that thick layer at the top!
Rairaimen !! 😍😍
Excellent choice 😀
Ça a l'air tellement bon!!
Merci encore pour ces super vidéos 🤘
I wish I saw this video in February when we were in Akihabara. I had no idea they have all sorts of awesome ramen shops there!
I'm gonna have to do a Part II for Akihabara! You'll have a big list for when you come back to Tokyo 😊
5 AM Ramen Awesome!! Looking forward to part 2 🍜
Loved this! I thought it had yama imo in it but wow!! Another great ramen review!!! Does rairaimen mean anything? Just curious. Does ramen change as the seasons change? Cant wait! Keep up the great work!👍🏿😀

1:12 That bowl of ramen from Aoshima Shokudo is a sight for sore eyes.
Atariya is now on my list, too. Their Rairaimen looks too good to not try out.
Great spotting Aoshima! I think I'm gonna reserve them for another video in Akihabara. Definitely grab the Rairaimen too when you're back 😊

5 AM Ramen Oh yes thank you for reminding me about your blog! I will definitely use it as a reference when we go back to Tokyo. Thank you! 😊
@@kb16kb No worries and thanks for watching!!
Akihabara is having a ramen battle ground? Haha if people in Japan ask what ramen restaurant I prefer I would be like this 😅
They moved to the Nezu area of Tokyo - no longer in Akihabara!
Rairaimen gives me mapo tofu vibes
That thick layer has some similarities - but it's not as spicy and more sweet.
Frank, any good Ramen shops in Nerima area?
Yes! I need to do a video on Nerima one of these days. 5amramen.com/ramen/nerima-ramen-gottsu
Besides Gottsu, I like Ramen Masuda a lot.
this rairai ramen looks like mapotofu ramen
Definitely similar textures with that thick, starchy layer. But more sweet and less spicy!
Can we have top halal ramen
I want to make a video like this in the future, for sure!
I’d your bored then comment on this comment so we can have some random conversation
