My dad liked this song a lot, as do I. Must have been back in the 70s when I first remember hearing it with him. Every time I hear it, I always think of him.
I am literally crying laughing, not joking. Lex was sooo into it, I feel bad Brad brushed her off. This is a song I might get carried away with too, so I can relate to Lex. And the whole convrsation after was also hilarious.
Been watching them for a few years. I love them!! But!! If Brad wasn't notoriously so standoffish to Lex's frequent obvious love vibes and advancements, she would be carrying their third child right now instead of their first. 😁🤔
Massive fan of this song - it's extra beautiful to watch a couple in love experiencing it together!! :D (And then Brad starts talking about never taking the trash out or walking the dog hahaha.)
This was a surprise. I didn’t know this would be out here. Now I have to start requesting more. Love you both and thank you again for reacting to this. ❤️
Of course. this was produced - beautifully - by the legendary Leiber and Stoller. BTW, the use of strings on r&b songs was a very new thing when this was recorded
In the same circumstances they could and would. This song is amazing, a classic and nothing will change that. But music is a journey; why reinvent the past?
I think we do not hear music like this much because society is in a lazy phase musically speaking. There is a constant battle between the virtuoso and the lazy. Centuries ago with the great composers, you needed to know a lot about music theory and then hone your craft for years until you reached some level of virtuosity. This took patience and hard work. That was a huger barrier to entry for some . As time passed there were orchestra's This is where each member of the orchestra, played small, succinct but highly coordinated parts. You had to play as a team with MANY other players. This took a highly talented musician even though each one played a much simpler part of the song. Another huge barrier to entry. In the big band era, you had the same problem...there were a lot of great and talented players playing a relatively simple parts but it all had to be highly coordinated. As you can see music was getting easier to play. Soon, you started having jazz trios and quartets. These were much smaller but still required a high proficiency of music knowledge. Then came the blues which inspired rock and roll. These are much simpler forms of music and soon you could not swing a dead cat without hitting some band practicing in some garage. Everybody was learning to play the guitar. As you can see music is still becoming simpler to play. However, then came the first guitar gods...Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton. They brought back virtuosity and craft to music. But the "lazy" musician did not like that and soon punk was on our door step, like Sex Pistols and the Damned. However, punk soon lost out to virtuosity and we had the second invasion of guitar gods like Eddie Van Halen, Kirk Hammet, Ywingie Malmsteen, Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert and more. However, yet again the "lazy" rose up and we soon had Hip Hop and Grunge. With Hip Hop you didnt even have to play an instrument or sing well. Today, you can "write" a song and not even play an instrument. There is so much software on the market a person can develop a song and not even know what a guitar is. Remember in the early days. Brad and Lex could not even identify what sound was coming from what instrument, much less name the instrument? People will start writing songs like this when the cycle comes back around.
Great song!! The bass line played by Lloyd Trotman was and is iconic. Ben once said that it was his favorite of all. I had the pleasure of knowing Lloyd and being friends with his family and had the opportunity of visiting his home when he and his family and friends would jam. Fantastic stuff. Miss those days.
Well, that was kinda' friggin' fantastic, wasn't it? The reaction during was especially gratifying, and so typical of your visibly vibrant relationship throughout all B & L reactions. Hilarious in places (nod to Brad for gleefully describing his future "pay back" for Lex's "standing by")....made me tear up while I was laughing at times. You two are priceless. Many 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍!!!!!!
This is for Brad who hasn't reacted to BJORK songs again. you could hear JOGA. Either the album version or the Live at Royal Opera House version, both wonderful.
It was clear from watching that this was how Lex feels about Brad but it was very refreshing and surprising to hear her say it to him. Bravo Lex. Brad, you were right on target with your analogy of how finally listening to the lyrics is like finally taking the time to talk to that person you see but normally pass by every day.
Just want to say congratulations you guys are going to have a baby that's so awesome I love watching your videos I've been watching for a while just wanted to congratulate you guys
This song got an unbelievably large tv audience when it was performed at Prince Harry's wedding. It's a pity that Ben E King wasn't around to hear it. BTW, Tom Jones has cited Ben E King as one of his favourite singers.
I really like you two!! You make me smile. Lex is the sillier of the two of course 🤣 I wish you would watch more of the videos of the songs. Keep up the great reactions.
Brad you got a good woman 👩 and you need to let het know ON THE AIR how much you won’t take the trash out.🤣 Priceless and the wife and I love the show .
It’s so nice that I’ve been watching you guys for so long and I can see Brad being Brad just stoic and not any thing thing reacting to anything unless it’s my favourite band of all time the pixies and then you have the most gorgeous woman on your shoulder dances and jigs to everything that I love you are blessed. I don’t know where you are in America. I know you’ve got LEDs going in everything and I truly hope you guys are okay
Ben E. King had a long successful career, first as the Drifters' lead singer and then solo. As a solo, he also sang "There is a Girl in Spanish Harlem", but his big hits with the Drifters are classics and standards of popular music.
You two are such a lovely couple. Such fun and always coming up with interesting reactions. Maybe further on down the line you might check out Ben's "Spanish Harlem", or some of the Drifters marvellous catalogue.
I learned how to cha cha to that song back in the early 60s in NOLA. One year before he changed his name to Muhammad Ali, Cassius Clay recorded a pretty good version of the song. This was a very sweet reaction video. I wish y'all the best.
I love you two. Tbh goals like omg you two are perfect for each other I wish you both good luck and good memories together remember to fall in love with each other everyday
I remember moving to Belleville after my parents got divorced. The teacher at school had us all write down a song we liked. 80 percent of the class had this song written down. I never heard of it. I wrote down a Def Leppard song. Lol
The movie stand by me was filmed about 20 miles from where I live. I was a kids when it was being filmed. I go to watch the city lit up during filming. The buildings still look the same. They do a stand by me celebration annually there. (Brownsville, OR)
One of the all time greatest songs ever written.
Absolutely.
And one of the great vocal performances.
Fax
It’s simplicity only adds to it
For sure one of the top handful ever made. So simple, super powerful fantastic song. Still gets people singing at any venue/bar it gets played in
This is one of the best songs ever written. Plain & simple.
This kind of music will make anyone tear up. It's simply the greatest truth put into song.
My dad liked this song a lot, as do I. Must have been back in the 70s when I first remember hearing it with him. Every time I hear it, I always think of him.
My number one favorite song of all time! And this is coming from a huge metal fan!
It's up there for me too, and I'm a huge metal fan as well
I am a metal head also. But hubby and I hug and dance to this every time. Love it.
@@dbn52 Have you heard Lemmy do this? He at least tried to sing, lol

"I ain't taking the Dog Out! I'm Standing By you!" Hilarious!
Ben E. King was a LEGEND and also a remarkably charming and kind man. RIP
Brad & Lex, you'll love him singing lead for the Drifters on "There Goes My Baby", "This Magic Moment" and
"Save the Last Dance for Me"!!!!
The movie's a classic... the end with this song is so emotional.

Ben E. King will forever be known for this song.
Massive fan of this song - it's extra beautiful to watch a couple in love experiencing it together!! :D
(And then Brad starts talking about never taking the trash out or walking the dog hahaha.)
Then he can be on diaper duty or feeding duty 😁
Outstanding song of all time. Just beauty in all the words and Ben E. King makes more great. Soul all the way to the heart and mind.
that second where he says stand by me and brad and lex turn to look at each other with love in their eyes...priceless.

🤣 Interpretative dance. Go, Lex!
Great song
Don’t know anyone who’s never heard this
They both say they've heard it before. Maybe there's nobody left who hasn't... xD
Air-headed millennials will pretend they have never heard of it
Thought same.
I first heard it in 2019… was listening to it fully on my playlist by 2021 😊
Right? 🤣
Look at you to know you’re dipping into my fathers generation of music, and this is definitely a banger
Hey guys what's up! Great song! Great voice! A Timeless classic. You guys rock! God bless you! Peace!
One of the finest love songs ever made. It's even been in couple movies.
This song always brings back memories of the past for me. Just beautiful.
Of course. this was produced - beautifully - by the legendary Leiber and Stoller. BTW, the use of strings on r&b songs was a very new thing when this was recorded
The message is so important.
This is one of the best songs ever written
A great song and a great movie.
You two are absolutely adorable - thank you!!
I don't care who you are, you gotta love this song. Why can't this generation make music like this anymore?
I was too busy trying to come up with nasty riffs. Maybe I should have tried to write stuff like this.
@@hmpz36911 awww. Did I trigger you? I play guitar too dude... It ain't all about "nasty riffs"
