"The first thing actually, was when we were doing the first Soundgarden single. We were doing a song called "Nothing To Say", which was just...at the time just seemed amazingly heavy. I thought, these guys can't possibly be really playing this song. It sounds like...it just sounds insane. It sounds way too good for 8-track, and sounds way to good for some crappy little Seattle band." - Jack Endino, 1992
They didn't know they were creating music history when they recorded this. Rest in Peace, Chris. Should you meet the Gods on your journey, scream at them for us.
If they were gonna reissue this, I'm glad they brought in Endino to do it; the guy was a huge part in capturing Soundgardens' early sound, and the remaster seems to have done the original justice!
I need to go into my archives and pull out all my old SG stuff. Especially the Knights of the Soundtable Fanclub (Only $1.00!) material and all the Xmas cards they's send. That was the coolest fanclub along with Black Flag's and TSOL's from back in the day. Nobody does that kind of stuff now.
Came here after reading an article with Kim saying Buzz turned him on to drop D tuning and this was the first song he wrote. Kim is a living legend. RIP Chris Cornell
Just finishing spinning my reissue of Screaming Life/Fopp EP. Screaming Life is easily one of the greatest EPs ever recorded, and definitely one of my favorite EPs of all time!

"Oh my god, your words are out of balance " Somehow, one of the best lyrics ever, in spite of there being no one to even guess what he what he was referring to or what he meant by it
I always imagined it to be about not caring whether you win or lose an argument. Sticking to your guns. They can say your words are "out of balance" all they want but they have nothing else good to say. Even if they did you just tell them they have nothing to say.
Lol. This is how I feel whenever I go out socially. I don't go any longer. I stay home. I work at a good job that's quite demanding physically and emotionally.... So happy to stay in and listen to music on my days off.
And they said that they were NOT a heavy metal band.....this song disagrees with that claim...how fuckin badass heavy is the main riff...and of course Chris's soaring voice recalls a raw DIO...grunge my ass...
We all know this is grunge. But, this song in particular, is also something else: something I call dream metal, a subgenre of alternative metal that, as far as I am aware, Soundgarden invented, and Tool expanded upon.
was that the encyclopedia they had us on in middle school? i had some microsoft program with this song on it, some encyclopedia, and it took me several years to find out what song this was.

Remember seeing em in 90s at Paramount theatre in Sea town..... Had to rescue my buddy from the pit. ..too hot and rushed out. Get him out in lobby.....he hears them as he comes to....goes running back to the pit....powerful studf
The big bad word spelt with four letters is always reminding me of "Big dumb sex". I know that the latter was written as a joke. I was around eighteen when I first heard it and still find it amusing even in my forties 😊
That intro alone is just so powerful

Was just thinking about this quote on my walk today
What does "crappy" mean? Someone explain me, please.
@@jeffersonaraujoelcristiano idk what he meant, you would have ask him
@@jeffersonaraujoelcristiano Not very good. He's implying that they sound too good to be true.
The raw power and energy behind this song is insane, these guys were truly one of the most talented bands of all time
Awesome band, Alice in chains are better but
True, but Nirvana the best 🎉
U both r crazy!! No one was better than cris Cornell!!
I hope Sound Garden gets inducted in the rock and roll hall if fame this year. They truly deserve it. Rip CC so sadly missed.
Sound Garden??????????😶
@@lonelysurfer7564... wouldn't be surprised if "autocorrect" changed that. A lot of people post without proofreading.
it's just so good to me how I feel like the "atmosphere" of this song can totally get me into a rainy day in the late 80's Seattle!
They didn't know they were creating music history when they recorded this. Rest in Peace, Chris. Should you meet the Gods on your journey, scream at them for us.
Had the cassette, God how much time I must've spent rewinding this

This video helped me admire Cornell and Soundgarden a lot more this morning after hearing the tragic news.
Una de las mejores canciones de Soundgarden.
Ironic. Nothing to say. And yet, so much said.
I'm so glad they actually look back and reissue stuff like this. Even more respect for subpop :)

This is pure Led Sabbath or Black Zeppelin sound, standing great on its own shape!!
More sludgey .
This is pure Soundgarden.
Black zeppelin 😂🤘
No its soundgarden
@@vikingbynature777but the influence of those bands is obvious lol
This song is symbol of grunge.🔝

This has become a top 5 favorite Soundgarden song for me, constantly on repeat now.
so unfathomably pure
This song blew me away when I first heard it, I thought it was the grungiest tune ever
Aw man! I wish that was MY collection of clippings!
NOTHING TO SAY!
I love Soundgarden
Fucking eighties Soundgarden: savage.
Ha Kim Thayil was wearing a Black Sabbath Vol 4. shirt in one of the articles.
Checks out.
Un celebrated gem of Soundgarden’s work - and right at the start. Some absolutely incredible raw, loud and anthemic tracks on this ep
Not how I remember it though … has it been tampered with lol?…
One of the most important bands of all time!
Facts 💯
I actually discovered soundgarden, and grunge, through Microsoft Encarta. Never looked back.
You sir have Won the Internet today.
Same here, greetings from Argentina. First time I heard of grunge was through Encarta, and a fragment of this song. Shout out to the 90s!
Lol. I remember that.
Me too
The sabbath is strong in this one

This gives me chills every time I hear it. The vocals are Erie, and crazy!
