- Hello from Dublin
My cover of the Intro, Verse & first Chorus of the John Deacon Bass Line in the Queen Classic tune “Another Bites The Dust”
In this video, I am using my Fender John Deacon “Tribute” Precision Bass 🎸
In 1986, John Deacon of Queen refinished his iconic (Natural) Fender Precision Bass in Black. He also added Gold Hardware including a Gold Schaller Bridge & Gold Tuners.
He used his Black P Bass as his No 1 Bass on Queen’s 1986 “Magic Tour” which played in Ireland, Europe, Wembley & Knebworth Castle during July and August of that year. He also used this Bass on subsequent “Freddie Mercury Tribute” Concerts & Queen songs.
My John Deacon Fender “Tribute” P Bass includes;
Fender Neck
Fender Body
Gold Schaller Bridge
Gold Gotoh Tuners
Gold Control Knobs & Jack
Lollar Highwound Pickups
DR Sunbeam Nickel Plated Round
Core Strings 45/105.
The Fender Body & Neck are Mexican and 20 years old. They were previously owned by the amazing Bassist (Alan, AKA John
Deakon) who plays in the brilliant Queen Tribute Bands “Supreme Queen” & “QE2”. Check them out, they are absolutely awesome.
The Bass was forensically and lovingly assembled by Irish Master Luthier Tony Thompson, Ballintemple, Arklow, Co Wicklow, Ireland, who did the following amazing work
Neck & Headstock Gloss lacquer
Full Fingerboard Re-Fret
New Bone Nut
Installation of all Gold Hardware
Pickup balance & installation
Full Bass Assembly & “Set Up”
John Deacon is one of my Bass Heroes (along with Adam Clayton, Tony Butler & Phil Lynott).
