But he's one of the smartest and most articulate people (in terms of making the complicated simple), I've ever seen. This interview just proves that in a more intimate and genuine way. The amount you can learn from him is pretty incredible.
@Paul Thomas Johnson , You're so right about people not liking to hear this. Ask any sale man worth his salt, how easy it is to manipulate people. What if our true nature is "happiness" and meaning is only created by humans and the MIND or Thinking. We add meaning. What if there is NO meaning to anything, in fact once the mind stops and you are just being- meaning is being. :)
i saw a true happy awesome 2 year old kid with no meaning, just pure happiness. meaning is when the intellect gives a label to something. happiness is what is felt in the heart not in the head.

"Death" is actually a part of life. Brain death, or the permanent loss of conscience is only a loss if there is no memory of it. Matter always remains, was always there; and so conscience always remains and was always there as long as it's not forgotten.
Humblest person ever, for 20 years he has blown people's minds and done incredible experiments, I can't believe he is the same person sitting next to Lewis, sooo humble.
Depends what their agenda is, for example the British government set up a "behavioural insights team" that uses neuro linguistic programming to push propaganda. I love Derren's work too, but many of the techniques he uses are dangerous in the wrong hands.
ThoughtCriminal they would be highly influential and dangerous in the wrong hands for sure and have been used many times. The TV programmes and the mindset of the people that orchestrated them, don't make me want to trust people. Quite the opposite. Even if just filmed as make-believe (probably even more so). I've followed the work Derren V. Brown puts his name to since it begun showing and I see something so contradictory about that work, his persona and what is hinted as being his true nature on social media. I have a theory that by nature he cares a LOT about reputation. Status and money. Enough to squeeze extraordinary skills and, possibly, his moral standards into the public arena for money-generating-drama. Other people may have chosen not to use those skills in the same way? What he says about how to live with what we can't control and happiness is insighful and very helpful. I recon that piece of advice stems from some personal journey he may have gone through to understand and manage a natural need to control, manipulate and shape to his will and/or the challenges that fame-dom may have presented him with. I've always found him such an interesting and insighful person. Even if I am sure I only fully understand a small portion of what he shares, he is a very engaging and different entity to witness. How big a mark he leaves in the History of entertainment (authored as it is) is one to watch. I am at that stage in life when we wonder which History does truly matter... He will figure in many minds and many mainstream and prestigious archives, kudos to him for making a mark on that one.
Can't believe he hasn't seen Apocalypse. It's been out for years. Amazing. Watched it a few times because it's so good. Probably my favourite one Derren has done. The books are really good as well. You should read them. I've kind of been obsessed for years because he's so good at what he does...
Thanks Lewis and Derren! Brilliant show. Fascinated by Derrens work. Sacrifice is well worth checking out. Its a really emotional journey and really beautiful. I was in tears at the end. Powerful stuff!
From what I noticed in this and another podcast, Derren is the type of guy who doesn't have any problem sharing what and how he does it. I will only mention how impressive that is and how big of a rapport builder that is, especially since Tony Robbins was doing it from his early career as well.

Tony Don definitely. The basis of the book is trying to lower one's expectations via Stoic principles, in order to find some inner peace in a frenzied world. DB is a very engaging, well- read writer. It helped me a lot. May I also politely suggest Ruby Wax's 'How To Be Human- The Manual.' Wonderful book about mindfulness and extremely helpful if you're a bit fcuked up like me. 😊✌🏼️
Apologies for misspelling Derrin's name- just to add my favourite quotes from the music lyric world Atlanta rhythm section song "all in your mind" (in part) what you're looking for is what you'll find and Rolling Stones "you can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you just might find you get what you need". I'm glad you realised what took me til the 60s too learn musicians stage fight is over when you realise it doesn't matter if you screw up , its only your pride and it's not about. you it should the best thing for your listening audience's sake after all do unto others wouldn't you want this if you were listening thanks for featuring Derringer on your thing ....
When Derren mentions Wizard of Oz I automatically start singing the lyrics inside my head. I only recently watched it and the sequel too! Apocalypse and Her at 10,000 feet are among my favourite episodes!
I’m only 20 minutes in-I’ve liked and subscribed already! This is such a great interview from both sides!!! Fab Chanel!!! Can’t believe I haven’t came across this before now!?! Truly brilliant! Well done sir! 👍
I liked you Lewis but how can you call this “how to get anything you want” that’s so misleading and click baity, and the complete opposite of what he says. He literally says you can’t get what you want a lot of the time and you should avoid setting long term goals for this reason. He says all you can control is your actions, not the result of your actions and to make peace with that. I doubt he’s appreciate your misrepresentation
It's actually not EXACTLY clickbait, though, it's just straight-up misleading. It doesn't quite tease and withold Info to induce curiosity,, like most clickbait. It simply lies about the subject. In other words, it's not quite as sophisticated as true clickbait, it's simpler and dumber.

First time here on the channel and what a powerful interview. I'm a very laid back kind of person and take life as it comes but after watching that it makes me want to change myself slightly and move up closer to that X=Y Axis Derren mentioned. Really fascinating taking a look at life from a third person perspective and making a change based on that perspective you don't see ordinarily. Thank you for this, I mean that thank you. Wow!
I love the way Lewis interviews people. Maybe it is just me, but I had trouble following Darren the way he communicates. He seems authentic and smart, but things seemed all over the place with his answers. Maybe I was expecting something different based on the title...
what I found interesting is how hung up on a handshake Lewis was, having a vice-like handshake signifies what exactly?? masculinity? territorial? dominance? ego? or a show of inadequacy?
Great show . Your a very honest philosophical individual , figured out you were gay ages ago , not a problem ! Just a shame you couldn't admit it earlier . ! Anyhow , love and light ! You are inspirational ! 😆
I think whats really interesting is how both of these intelligent people came to their own realisations on how to live their own lives at around the same age - 30. I think we need to do a better job of teaching the young what we find to be true at this age, instead of having to wait 30 years to come to these realisations ourselves.
Adults have been trying to teach their young for millennia . You can't rush or force life experience unless you intentionally remove yourself from existing mainstream systems. For instance, Montessori, Waldorf schools tend to expose children to a much more broad spectrum of experiences, therefore you learn more, sooner in life.
F*ck. Thank you as always. Every time I think that your last interview was as good as it can get and as real as it can get, I see another one and am inspired...again. I'm going to keep commenting bc the energy you put out is genuine and I don't know you at all. But listening to these or watching these while I work has become a habit that I'm happy with:) Thanks (again)
I totally agree, I love Derren, he's never chased huge fame. The only problem is new American fans are now commenting on his shows and just saying fake over and over without listening to him in this interview or understanding what's going on. They don't want to accept suggestiblity or the power of authority or how stage hypnosis works. Easier to just shout fake ignorantly. If he was a fake he'd have chased worldwide fame years ago and he didn't. He a sceptic himself and says so and not all his shows works, even in Sacrifice, the jump scene fails, if he was fake, he wouldn't show that. He shows all the failures.
Lewis, were you ever worried that all of the sudden he would be in your head and having you do or talk about stuff you would not normally? I think it is so engrained in Derren now that he does it with little to no effort! Kept thinking he might stand up, in his theatrical way, and say now you can all wake up to go do great things! Would have been fitting for your show....but maybe he did in a way without standing up......
Ah yes,I have often thought that a rationalists understanding of the Christian god or Jesus was pretty much the projected image of the perfect version of one's self idealised up to the limits of one's imagination, and in fact this inner self is exactly the same thing as the biblical god anyway. Not to be blasphemous but even an atheist may have a self defined goal which must take the place of a deity in the mind; perhaps this is what an atheist's take on spiritual responsibility! Or maybe to mass market a system of ideals some seem to need belief more than faith. Love your work Derringer.
20 years, not 30. But still, I'm surprised it's taken him so long to make it in America. It's probably for a number of reasons, mainly he's a home bird and kinda shy, even though he doesn't come across that way on tv. He's never really chased 'huge fame' as such.
What’s very telling in my mind at least, is that despite the ‘love thy neighbour’ statements they both make; is that Derren feels the need to even bring up the political leanings of the guy. The insinuation being that there is a link between being racist and right wing. He then immediately points out that the guy doesn’t like illegal immigrants…which isn’t actually racism, that’s called not being fond of criminals. Surely the more appropriate point would be if the guy doesn’t like people of a certain race? After all race isn’t specific to nationality. Then Lewis goes on to talk about people building walls and referring to immigration and then really playing on the whole microchip thing. Derren is brilliant and honestly I’ve never heard of Lewis before but having heard this interview it seems to me that this talk about coming together and being nice isn’t sincere. It’s not the same thing when in reality what you’re doing is saying - here’s a person who seems racist - then twisting that to being about politics and moving on to point out that; oh everyone needs to be nicer, and by everyone I mean people who disagree with me and I’m so virtuous that I’ll make them better people by making them agree with me. I’m British by the way so don’t care about either political side in the US but it’s annoying when such a transparent jab at another group is made with the pretence of being civil. Not particularly classy
MEANING BRINGS YOU HAPPINESS.. THEY'RE THE SAME ALMOST.. MEANING LOOKS MORE IMPORTANT , BECAUSE IT HAD INTENTION BEHIND.. THAT CREATES A QUESTION.. WHAT YOU MEAN ?.. AND IT WILL REQUIRE ACTION.. TO MEAN IS IMPORTANT ALSO KNOW HOW TO REPORT MEANING!.. MEANING SEEMS MORE IMPORTANT BUT IT REQUIRES UNDERSTANDING. BEING ABLE TO MEAN THINGS, AND TO KNOW YOU MEAN SOMETHING WILL MAKE YOU HAPPY. SO WE LOOK FOR BOTH. BECAUSE... WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO DO ? WE JUST WANT THE BEST FEEELINGS.. TO BE HAPPY IS FINDING MEANINGFULNESS IN WHAT YOU MEAN OR NOT. Love Mr Brown and his wonderful book "Happy" is truly a design for life. ✌🏼️
Lewis Howes Thank you Sir. ✌🏼️
Should I get it?
Apocalypse and Her at 10,000 feet are among my favourite episodes!
i needed this today, thank you. I have been intrigued by these topics from a young age. Derren is fascinating and seems very balanced.
Conversation I want: Derren Brown and Jordan Peterson. Topic: "How everyone has the potential to do evil. Do we learn to love or is it inherent?"
I’m only 20 minutes in-I’ve liked and subscribed already! This is such a great interview from both sides!!! Fab Chanel!!! Can’t believe I haven’t came across this before now!?! Truly brilliant! Well done sir! 👍
Love listening to DERREN BROWN...Great interview - kuddos to LEWIS HOWES!
Agree
It's actually not EXACTLY clickbait, though, it's just straight-up misleading. It doesn't quite tease and withold Info to induce curiosity,, like most clickbait. It simply lies about the subject. In other words, it's not quite as sophisticated as true clickbait, it's simpler and dumber.
This needs an edit of just Derren and no host..... Damm he needs to be muted.
Thanks again Lewis! I watched derren brown all my life and have even been to see him! So strange seeing him appear on your channel it’s like you have access to my subconscious!
Lewise's laugh at the end about the push. Felt soo human and genuine.
Lewis!
You're more they welcome to my house whit this amazing conversation!
Thank you so much for this channel, for think in others peoples you never see!
Happy Thanksgiving day!
Love you Lewis!
I'm really happy that this video is, a lot of peoples first introduction to who DB is.
What a great interview. He has such great observations on human nature. I will definitely have to check him out on Netflix.
Awesome episode as always Lewis. Love how u respond to every single comment in every video I've watched. Shows ur commitment and passion. Ur the only person I have seen that does this, means alot. Thanks man
#netflix We all need more of Derren Brown!
one of my personal heroes
@@lewishowes absolutely appreciated your line of questions on this one in particular. really felt like the kind of conversation i'd like to have with him
First time here on the channel and what a powerful interview.
Wow!
NEVER FAILED TO INSPIRE ME ..😍😍😍,..BEEN LISTENING TO YOUR PODCAST SINCE MAY 2018...AND I AM GRATEFUL I FOUND UR CHANNEL ...
Much appreciated! Darren is a really deep and interesting fellow. Really well worded acknowledgment at the end, too. Great talk!
Nice to see to men enjoy each other so much.
Best interview I've seen with Mr. Brown. Excellent.
This was awesome. First time I've watched your channel. You're better than Joe Rogan!
@@lewishowes Just did, I'll take a look! :)
I love the way Lewis interviews people. Maybe it is just me, but I had trouble following Darren the way he communicates. He seems authentic and smart, but things seemed all over the place with his answers. Maybe I was expecting something different based on the title...
best interview of Derren yet.
Lewis you are better at this everyday! Thank you for introducing such interesting people and asking meaningful questions. #fantasticfollow
what I found interesting is how hung up on a handshake Lewis was, having a vice-like handshake signifies what exactly?? masculinity? territorial? dominance? ego? or a show of inadequacy?
Rindsay Alligator he’s being humorous. He hurt his hand and he’s worried Lewis will hurt him when he shakes his hand again. Xx
@@lijinraj6818 The comment was about Lewis, not Derren.
Mind blowing interview ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great show . Your a very honest philosophical individual , figured out you were gay ages ago , not a problem ! Just a shame you couldn't admit it earlier . ! Anyhow , love and light ! You are inspirational ! 😆
Freakin' love Derren Brown!
What Darren Brown does amazing things!!!
Derren*
What?
Syntax error, mate.
thanks. will watch now
@@lewishowes you rock bro! loved your audio book
I don't idolize anyone, any celebrity, but derren
Thank you so much for this one!!
Damn! derren in the ep! been a follower of him since 2012
I like how Derren puts him at ease right off the bat by blowing smoke up his arse about British handshakes.
He has been well known in the UK for over a decade. Would highly recommend checking out his older tv shows
I totally agree, I love Derren, he's never chased huge fame.
YOU SEE.. I COULD MAKE YOU GO MAD!... OR YOU ALREADY ARE.. WHICH I LOVE!!!
I haven’t heard of in a while and can’t believe he’s on interview on here. Wow
Yess DB is quite a cool dude ngl
Derren Brown is good.
He is an inspiration to me has been for a long time
Lewis Howes you do wonders to my man 🙏🏼
between this episode and the one with chalamagne tha god. ive become a subscriber. the next episode I intend to watch is the one with Robert greene
do you realise how famous he is and has been in the uk for a decade now
30 years on TV in UK....
20 years, not 30. But still, I'm surprised it's taken him so long to make it in America. It's probably for a number of reasons, mainly he's a home bird and kinda shy, even though he doesn't come across that way on tv. He's never really chased 'huge fame' as such.
Greg W his stunts are too much for them to comprehend, they just think it's as fake as US TV.
@@overthewebb 18 years but whos counting lol
@@overthewebb yeah he never wanted fame and fortune. From what I heard in one interview.

SO WE LOOK FOR BOTH. BECAUSE... WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO DO ? WE JUST WANT THE BEST FEEELINGS.. TO BE HAPPY IS FINDING MEANINGFULNESS IN WHAT YOU MEAN OR NOT. *Watching this in Dec. 2021. I wonder what Darren thinks about the mass-scale, global "social compliance" that is currently happening?*
