I love adaptive cruise control when you want a relaxed drive but goes out the window when driving quick. Mpg is pretty good considering how you were driving
I am French and I confirm that in France we pay no tax whatsoever for motorways or national roads. I also prefer to pay the toll for what I drive than to pay a tax every year.
When you first got those belts installed in the RS3 I commented saying I wasn't so sure about them, I think I've changed my mind. They look pretty minted.
The RS3 seems to be decent on the old fuel consumption poss because of the box from racing line? I know after I fitted my tuning box I got a lot better mpg. I was cruising down to London same day you were and would have liked your trip more than mine!! Looking forward to the next update :)

No road tax in France. You do pay something when you buy and register a car. At the Toll booths if you get a Tag for your car you can go through the T lanes, you don't need to get a ticket and you don't stop as barriers automatically - can go through some at 50kph. Called a Liber-T tag. You can get one in UK. Roads in France are pretty well maintained.
I am surprised that you did not have the Libet T windscreen tag to save all that faffing about at the tolls. That little bit of road at Reims has a posted speed limit of 80 kph which everybody including locals ignore

Guys Great content couple of points- 1. Reason no french police on tolls roads is that you are timed between tolls and average speed calculated. Please note local police building immediately at exit of toll booths and will be pulled over. Police normally very fair but of course there are exceptions. 2. Highway Code allows undertaking on inside lanes only if matching speed of your lane and not using as a way to cross over into other lanes to get ahead.
Another great vid. We spent 6 years living in Germany in the late 80's and 90's, we had to take an additional theory driving test to drive. Back then all of the autobahns were unrestricted and it was only the odd speed limit around busy junctions and cities that had speed limits, but the polizei enforced that quite rigorously, and even back then they were using the portable tripod speed cameras, oh and the polizei cars were green and white back then a bit harder to spot. I've still got the photos somewhere to prove it. As we lived on the Dutch border we spent a lot of time driving in holland where the police were a lot more ruthless on speeding, my mate had a new M3 E30 which the police took off him for speeding noand he had to get a taxi back home. Great roads, great fun, great beer and great times.

Crossing Germany from the Tunnel? There is Belgium with a lot of works and limited to 120 km/h. France has highways at 130km/h and fluid.
