      Why not? They have some pretty strong racing pedigree and that booming twin which is fun.
      Maybe I just like V-2s for the novelty 🤷‍♂️ I'd really only race on a cheap inline 4 that I wouldn't hate myself for dropping. Imagine dropping something like a RC8 at the track haha

      youll be better off with a 2013+ model. the earlier suspension does have a Dlc coating which does reduce stiction by a small degree, however this needs to be lubed every 800 miles or so otherwise you will not outperform the later suspension as the only difference is the stiction coating.
      when taken care of the normal suspension vs the coated suspension has a difference in stiction of about 1mm. not any meaningful difference there.
      a 2013+ comes standard with a twinspark engine which produces more horsepower, itll have a slipper clutch stock, a gear indicator in the dash (you cannot get this on a pre 2011 r model and it may not have come until 2013). youll get two positions for the clip on adjustments built into the yoke meaning you dont have to measure the angle. you also get a lighter rear spring at 85nm compared to the overly stiff 90-95nm spring on the earlier models. (you would have to weigh over 250 pounds to make use of that spring). this means on a 2013+ r model you get more hp, slipper clutch, gear indicator, heavier flywheel for reduced stalling, smoother gearbox, softer race spec rear spring, etc. the only real benefit of an earlier model rc8r is the forged wheels, youre looking at about 1 -2 pounds of difference which is better than nothing but it doesn't beat aftermarket or carbon.

      Tip for anyone considering a tail tidy... Don't.
      The R&G is crappy steel that eventually shrugs the paint and rusts like fook.
      Aftermarket indicators fail repeatedly too.
      Worse still the R&G bracket lets water flow into the tail unit, corroding the rear wiring loom.
      The OEM license carrier/indicators has a raised section where it mounts.

    • @stoneautomotive
      @stoneautomotive  4 года назад +1

      You’ll be fine if you take your time getting used to the torque, it will be a completely different experience to the ZX6R where’s on that you are chasing the 10,000rpm+ sweet spot all the time this is happy to make monster ground from 4,000rpm. Low speed round abouts are a pig with the jerky throttle/ high torque but you soon get used to it and as detailed in the video the Oberon slave cylinder provides improved feed back on the clutch

    • @greyravendreamwalker
      @greyravendreamwalker 4 года назад +1

      you can install a yoyodyne slipper or retrofit one from a 2013+ r model. the clutches are interchangeable and the stock slipper is very good.
      youll be fine on the bike, throttle control is key, do a remote tune with dave moss for 40 bucks and have him do all the math to have the bikes suspension optimized for you and your riding pace, itll make a a huge difference and its the very first thing you should do. the bike will perform better in almost every aspect.

    • @stoneautomotive
      @stoneautomotive  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hi,
      The RC8R is a tall bike and sadly as it’s a highly strung v-twin it’s very lumpy/ rough at below 4,000rpm especially round town! I did a video on Lambda delete video which helps a lot but certainly no where near as smooth as an inline 4 powered bike if that’s what your hoping for

    • @pauln6803
      @pauln6803 7 месяцев назад +1

      The RC8/R does have an adjustable seat height but it is a larger and bulkier bike than the small, narrow Ducati and the tall tail unit can make getting short legs over the seat.
      Lowering with the under engine exhaust is going to be difficult unless you can find either the elusive Akrapovic 2 into 2 or Termignoni full exhaust systems.
      A two teeth larger rear sprocket makes the bike better in low speed traffic, but it will get uncomfortably hot in traffic.
      It is however a "Honda easy" bike to ride once you get moving.

      The torque and sharp yet completely stable handling makes it incredibly easy to ride.
      Oberon slave and a two teeth larger sprocket has made mine somewhat usable in traffic.
      Can't honestly say the billet slave made the clutch much lighter (unlike the MPL unit on my old Mille R which REALLY reduces lever pull force), but it makes for a more progressive action.

      I have seen/ heard the correct way of saying it, most of my UK viewers wouldn’t have a clue if I pronounced it the correct way 😅

      Uh-KROP-oh-vitch. And it's abbreviated "Akra," not "Akro."

      It’s a long video, what part are you referring too lol?

    "180 horsepower." LOL The 2008 model had 151 horsepower, and the later models had 173. That's roughly 147 at the rear wheel.

      Standard RC8R is 170bhp & the Evo4 pack as detailed in the video increases power another 10bhp I don’t understand the “LOL” 🤷‍♂️
      Its not 180bhp at the wheel if that’s what you’re assuming I meant? Have a look at the Evo4 pack

      @@stoneautomotive haha is that so, well I had an Aprilia rsv mille r and that was already bad to get on but that ktm tho dang. Looking out for a bike myself but still doubting about what to buy. Just had back surgery 4th october and I do want a race bike like this one but also fell in love with the first bike I ever had, not because it was my first one but just because it was so comfy and drove so well and easy (buel xb9sx) but if I by one will buy the xb12s, the big engine. It all depends on the results of the surgey which at this stage are fantastic but wanna wait a bit longer. Also have my eye on a rare 2009 mv agusta f4 312 rr 1078 with full titanium zard exhaust and recalculated eprom with 209hp but thats just a coffin on wheels :D
