Despite working creatively, i feel color has never been my strongsuit, especially in interior design! I love seeing it all come together! You in a room, as it should be as your space 🌞 cant wait to hear the yap!!!!!
I absolutely agree with your philosophy about organising things in such a way that it's easy to put them back!! I put all my felting wools in colour order in a box shelf and it looked really pretty at first but as soon as I started using it, it just became such a mess. It's such a faff to get out the wools I want without a bunch of other wools coming too; half the time, it's easier to pull everything out onto the floor and then find what I need from the floor pile lol. But then putting it all back is a nightmare! I've ordered some containers to reorganise it all into, and I can't wait to be able to access everything more easily :P So excited to see your reveal!!
It was so lovely to meet you today!! Your creativity was contagious and you just exude warmth and joy for your art! Cannot wait to cross paths again. Lois G
I loved this video! I started watching you early into your time in Scotland and you have been such a source of creative comfort and inspiration for me. You just have such a calm and joyful demeanor filled with curiosity about the world and what you can make and it's exactly how I aspire to be. Thank you for sharing not just your art but your life and wonderful spirit with us. Maybe I'm just extra emotional these days but it's nice to see that sort of goodness continuing on in the world (:
Oh and also! Can totally relate wit your organizational style - I have ADHD - diagnosed at 28 a few years back - and I have learned to see how I chuck things somewhere, then place a bin there to make it work for me 😅
That room looks like such a comfortable creative room. I have a wolf pup, a Harold, an Erica table loom, a peg loom. tapestry loom and a Saori loom. Dangerously a yarn store has opened about 100 feet from my home. I plan on taking my wolf pup and table loom to the shop so that they can offer them for people to learn on. That is the plan.
Andrea, I love the colors you chose for your new studio and I can’t wait to see part 2 of this series. Likely you have already researched all of your options for sturdy desks/tables, but Home Depot has some great work benches in their Husky line. I’ve eyed that Ikea rug! It’s beautiful. If you want to keep your books nearby, their narrow Billy bookcases are great for fitting in tight spaces. The new Schacht loom is awesome. I’m a new weaver that obsessively checks Facebook Marketplace for a sturdy floor loom that I can weave rugs on. I don’t want anything too terribly wide. Waiting for a 36” Leclerc Fanny to show up locally. Must be patient…
I can definitely relate to your method of organising. Knowing what works for you and will make you able to get the most use out of your belongings, and not what is most aesthetically pleasing having them on a shelf. I love the colours you chose for the room as well, it definitely sparks joy :D
Congrats on the new place, I love what you are doing in your studio!!! Also congrats on the new loom, I recently added a Mighty Wolf to my space as well, but need to do a little more rearranging so I can get busy with it!
I really like your videos! I enjoy watching you discover all the things I discovered on my textile journey starting more than 50 years ago! I have a dye tip for you. I use wet silk hankies for spinning to mop up dye and also to exhaust my dye pot. Silk loves dye and will extract almost all the dye that is left in the pot. Some of them I spin as is and some I cut up to add to art batts. I’m looking forward to seeing what you do next! ❤️
As always, you have used your amazing creativity and color sense to make a beautiful room! Of course you must organize things to fit your nature. When I had a weaving space with all my cones of yarn on shelves, more than once I glanced up there and saw two colors next to one another that I would never have thought to combine, and yet they looked great together. And that was inspiration for a new project!
Thanks so much for sharing. I am sorting out my craft room at the moment and appreciate your explanation of why you do things and the functionality of your layout. Lots to think of now. Great space ... so you.
Aw, your cat has gorgeous eyes, are they green or kind of blue/green? Hint, if you put a few nail holes around the inner rim of paint cans…where the lid goes down in..the paint will drain back into the can and so not build up in the ridge. The room looks amazing, the only thing maybe is to get some cedar balls or something, I had a moth disaster. I never saw a bigger moth , only tiny baby ones so I think something I brought in, yarn or a natural fabric, silk ,cotton or linen had the eggs already on or in it. Eventually I discovered a wool sweater of my father’s that my daughter claimed when he passed away was the source. It had been in her closet and she discovered it was full of holes where moth eggs had hatched and the worms had eaten the wool. I’d been finding these little tiny moths every so often and had put everything in covered clear plastic bins . A few things of mine got holes too , I cried a little, all my hard work😪destroyed but I ended up embroidering little flowers around them and it’s ok now. Just to save you the pain you can get cedar things to hang or store in the containers and I like the smell anyway. 🙋🏼♀️ Looking forward to part 2.
It's a drool worthy space! I'm the same way about cleaning...it's gotta be easy or it doesn't work. My partner loves wrapping the cord around the mini vac so it stores neatly but that puts me right off using it. I began to hate sweeping! I got myself a really beautiful japanese paper dustpan and lovely brush and now I'm back to liking sweeping up. It's so easy
Are you moving toward multi-harnesses and less Saori? I ask because I started with a 2 harness Saori and have planned a trip to Saorinomori in March. However, I am having second thoughts about the trip because I also acquired a multi-harness Fireside floor loom and wonder if I should try to master multi-harness instead. Your thoughts?
Do both, even if that means finding a Saori studio closer to home than Japan. Saori is my favorite loom. And when you DO get over to Japan, please return and tell us your adventures!
@ Thank you, Teacat! I was feeling unsure. I love my Saori loom. But thought maybe I should do “more.” I would be foolish to miss a trip to Saorinomori. I am doing both!
Nice work, this studio reflects your style, but I just have a suggestion, put some lamps at different levels coz the lighting isn’t the best here, also the desk chair doesn’t go well with the room.😭
I absolutely love all the custom touches.🎉❤ Something to think about for your yarn shelf is organizing just by color. That way you would only have to go to a section to pull the color you want and easy to put away.
Despite working creatively, i feel color has never been my strongsuit, especially in interior design! I love seeing it all come together! You in a room, as it should be as your space 🌞 cant wait to hear the yap!!!!!
So nice that you now have a space dedicated to work in so much easier to stay creative and your four legged superviosr seems happy too.

what an amazing space you've created for yourself. i love the idea of the "gallery shelves" where you can add or rotate things around easily.
Love your new creative space! And very excited to see my book made it onto your top shelf! Thank you!❤
C'était géniale !! 🎉 I am very happy for you, the dreeeaaaam 🌸🍀🌸

I have one of those two japanese color books! I'm glad i'm not the only one!
so excited for the deep dive into the books on ur shelf !! the studio looks so lovely! & the loom :))
I hope you still have the saiori loom. I enjoyed those videos so much. Congratulations

Lookin' great! Can't wait to watch Part 1.
Awesome color choices. Congrats on the new space! love all the cat shots. Aren't cats just the perfect assistants for string-based crafts?
Isn't it fun to make a space truly your own? I loved watching this. Everything is so cheerful and creative. Enjoy!
Love your new space and your cat assistant & other assistants🎉
Congrats on the new place, I love what you are doing in your studio!!! Also congrats on the new loom, I recently added a Mighty Wolf to my space as well, but need to do a little more rearranging so I can get busy with it!
I’m so enjoying your cat lounging around. What a well organized space you have created
I love your colour choices for your new studio, looking forward to part two. 😊

Great!!
I just love this video and the amazing transformation. Roll on part 2 ☺
Wow...these wall colours❤.

Color! Artwork! New loom! Guest appearances by Ryan and the kitty! Me, smiling and happy for you!
It’s your studio. You gotta make it work for you!!
So happy to have this pop up!
So fun to watch you decorate your space! Perfect timing....I was decorating my space today too! Great to have your video in the background! 😊
So fabulous! About to get a space of my own and this has made me even more excited 👌
WOW you've done such a beautiful job I love it so much! You are a very inspiring person thank you so much for sharing what you do :)
It's great you have a real studio space now! I really need to do the same. Don't forget a place to display your completed works! 😊👍👍👍
Love all the colors you chose❤
Congats on your home, I'll miss NYC
That rug has all your colors! I love my Alex for my painting supplies.
Wonderful! I like the colors 😊
I love watching your videos!!
When you finished painting I was thinking she needed to add white strips, instead your frames are white and all the shelving is white!!❤☺️
Gonna be fun to see what you do!!
Where did you get your new desk/table? It looks sturdy!
Are you no longer in NYC, Andrea?
over organizing stifles spontanous creativity
I love it! Where are your saori loom and that many harnessed table loom?
Wow nice!
So are you back in California now?

Having good ergonomics is probably a priority over aesthetics... Having said that, maybe a nice woven chair cover?
Are you still in NY?
