i have the same car with 517000 km on it and still runs great!
I believe it, this car is still an amazing driving experience, new age car buyers will never feel this and Im sad about this fact....

11 months, 20k kilometers and zero problems later i gotta say it's the best car i've ever had.

About to buy one. Do you know how the EGR/Exhaust behaves in this car? Regular maintenance or bad problems? Also is it normal for roof interior to peel off since there are great heats in my country during summer it gets almost 40 degrees c or is this some other issue, too old maybe??
The interior of the roof will peel off. And delete/block the egr.
I have a volvo v40 from 2002 since new. It was my father's and the it passed on to me.
Great car. Learned how to drive in it from a young age. However it does have its things:
Roof lining will come off when its left on the sun and Rain. Even in a garage kept car it will happen.
Egr and cat eliminated. Just block the egr and delete the cat. The car will breath better but be carefull of your country laws.
And last, be carefull with your dual mass flywheel. They are not the best. Mine already giving signals. The car has 240k kilometers and its on its 3rd clutch. Not because of the clutch itself since its it has a lot of material to go trough, but because of the flywheel that start to rattle. To prevent this dont load the car to much and dont push the car when below 1800 rpm. The turbo is a geometric variable turbo from garret so it gives the car a very low rpm peak torque which damadges the flywheel.
Clutch replacements on mine:
At 80k kilometers
At 120k kilometers (vacations with a caravan)
Has 240k kilometers and its still going (im thinking of 20k more)
Also I have seen some treaths online about swapping a single mass flywheel from a 850 t5 but never looked in detail.
Use volvo gearbox oil to have it as smooth as possible. They dont seam to like other brands.
Otherwise great car. Regular maintenece but cheap to run. Fuel consumption is on the 5 liter per 100 km. Very confortable.

@@brianfarinha1720 hey, i have the same car, bought it anfew month ago, 300k km on the clock, smoking like crazy under load when i go over 2000 rpms and has no power under 2000rpm. i unplugged egr valve yesterday, and now it pulls a little better under 2000 rpm but i still can't go uphill in 3rd gear without loosing speed when i'm under 2000 prm. there's oil in the intake, but it's not from the turbo it's from that reservoir near dipstick/oil cup

Yha but I think the periferals like turbo, alternator and stuff like that arent the same. The block and gearbox yes but the rest are from different brands
