    Thank you so much for doing this review! I didn't realize how much I depended on my push and how the serve wasn't too great for my game. Looking forward to implementing your drills into my practice and will hopefully see u again in 1800 haha

    This video is very applicable to me as I am also a forehand looper. Regarding some points in the video, please help me with these questions:
    1) How if he uses the backhand serve but from his backhand position instead? So that he is more ready for forehand play and the return break more to his forehand.
    2) Let's say if my opponent is a forehand looper, if he keeps serving long to my backhand (with varied spin & sometimes to my forehand to avoid me pivoting) so he can pivot and loop. What's my solution?
    3) In the video, there is a backspin ball that come high to his backhand. This reminds me of a situation yesterday that when I looped to my opponent's backhand, he blocked high to my backhand quickly and I had to drive it with my backhand (which was a miss). My question: do high-level players practice this kind of arkward balls?
    Thank you in avance!

      For number 1 basically the idea is the further toward the backhand side you serve the easier it will be to cover the entire table with your forehand because it's much easier on forehand to move to your right and play than it is to move to your left and play.
      For number 2. I'd wanna see a video of your specific situation before giving a specific solution.
      For number 3 I wouldn't say we drill it or anything but always in practice if a weird shot happens make sure we play against it properly but we've got so much repetition that it's effectively as if we had been practicing because we've seen it so many times and know the correct response but it takes time to develop this. It's like how if your opponent clips the net you may lose the point always but eventually you see it so much you can recover most net balls. You don't practice them it just gets better over time same concept

    love that you criticize but dont complain and also say what the player is doing right! joined the server and you earned a sub.

      I appreciate it!! Constructive criticism is always super important for a player to hear in order to improve. But just bashing on them the whole video without pointing out the positives would just be demoralizing and wouldn't help anyone.

    Why can't you serve that way but on the other end of the table?

    • @Looeelooee
      @Looeelooee  3 месяца назад +1

      I explained it in the video. Nothing wrong with that serve in general just not good in this specific situation

  • @mortuc1

    Ovtcharov does NOT have one of the best footworks on thr planet... More like that he uses that serve and then follows up with his backhand cuz its stronger than his forehand. But he definitely is not known for his footwork, hes actually rather slow

    • @Looeelooee
      @Looeelooee  3 месяца назад +1

      He looks slow maybe compared to the absolute best in the world but objectively for him to play at the level he's at he's really quick and he's definitely quicker than anyone under 2700.

    • @mortuc1
      @mortuc1 3 месяца назад

      @@Looeelooee i mean... Obviously hes quicker than just a regular strong non professional player. Thats cuz... well... Hes a professional internationally competitive player. After all hes one of the best. But thats definitely not cuz of hes speed. Compared to other players ON HIS LEVEL (which is the relevant thing here) and thats not just the chinese players he isnt specifically fast tho

    • @Looeelooee
      @Looeelooee  3 месяца назад

      @@mortuc1 you’re missing the point I was trying to make. I don’t care about his speed relative to other pros. My point is that he can get away with doing that serve and still looping a forehand when the ball gets pushed deep to the backhand corner because he has world class footwork.

    • @mortuc1
      @mortuc1 3 месяца назад

      @@Looeelooee fair enough. However, he really rarely does it. I mean, the entire point of his backhand serve or his tomahawk serve is that people receive to his backhand so he can attack with his backhand. Thats why backhand oriented players often use reverse spin. And serving reverse spin and then stepping around His backhand side to use a forehand is simply not Ovtcharovs style. Sure, he could probably do it but it's not his bread and butter. Thats why i thought mentioning him as an example for that was off.

    I kind of disagree with the title of this video. Of course the way he executes the serve its not such a great serve if you want to use your forehand.
    But if you were to serve it super wide and half long thowards the opponents forehand, unless they can put it around the net its very hard for them to play it anywhere else then to your forehand.
