This is what it really is and how/why it works: it's actually not a gel but more like a solution filled with humectants (and some conditioning agents). These humectants won't form a film therefor it won't provide definition like a gel (gel hardens into a film), but they will attract water and PENETRATE the hair shaft because of their small molecules. This basically helps to wet low porosity hair by making sure the humectants that bond with water penetrate into the hair shaft - introducing moisture into the hair. It's hard to hydrate low porosity hair because of the tight cuticles not letting anything in. By hydrating your hair on the inside curls will form more optimally, then when you add gel these curls start to get defined. To get the most out of S-curl you could apply it to more wet hair, in this case your gel wetted your hair just slightly but by saturating your hair with water first there will be more moisture in your hair.
The reason why you didn't end up with a crunch-feel is because humectants are also plasticizers. Plasticizers make films (gel) more flexible, which is why you'll have a softer and flexible finish instead of a stiff crunch.

@@ItsAbeeyola I use a mixture of different hair greases and oil. (Blue magic, dax, doo grow, etc) and my homemade oils. After wash day I twist with that mixture and then stretch my twistouts for at least two weeks. My hair has really grown.
I was watching this while doing my oldest daughter’s hair and when we say the first reveal of your hair after applying the gel and your curls were popping, in unison, we said “Woooooow😱🤣”

You are my hair twin! Your results were great! I use this product and LOVE it! It doesn’t leave a gummy feel on my hair once it’s completely dry. My wash n go’s lasts for a week...I could probably keep it longer but I wash my hair once a week, religiously.

It turned out fabulously! I see you didn’t use the s curl spray and yet your curls are so well defined. And you seem to have some volume too. I’ve ordered all the products you used so I’ll give it try. It would be nice to achieve the Jheri curl look without the chemicals.
I definitely get it. I use Uncle Funky's gel, Innersense and AG hair care, but right now I'm on a budget. So after seeing your results I'm going to give this a try!
I spend money on products that have natural ingredients. Sis don't be fooled by these expensive product because it is expensive does not mean it has a great quality. They might be hiding so many things in there. Thanks for the video.

I don't really think you need to spend more money to get better results. Sometimes you just need to tweak your technique. I've now gone back to my inexpensive products and I refuse to spend so much money on hair products, it's not necessary especially now that I know how to take care of my hair.

If you have a hooded dryer, I would use that. To dry it where it’s 80% dry then air dry the rest

Yes it was damp, I had just stepped out of the shower before starting. I would advise you do it on "wetter" hair.

These products don’t have any sort of perm within it right ( idk the word activator just frightens me now ... I’m on a natural hair journey 1 1/2 years going strong 💪🏽)

Yes ppl used it a lot in the 80s-90s with their Jerry curls which was a perm. However it's perfectly safe and NO perm in this bottle

Honestly I'm not good or really into the hair typing. However I would say 4B.
But hair characteristics is thick strands, low density, coarse strands, and more wavy (flat curls) then curly (curly like ringlets). Hope that helps.

@@ItsAbeeyola it could because you used 2 different gels try flaxseed gel on your hair you boil flaxseeds extract the gel from it and use essential oils to perserve the gel it grows your hair as well
