We are in the dark as officials and tribal members. Kweneng land board refused for us to fence off our 2 boreholes in kweneng west for a long period of time and from the highest level of office yet masimo are being allocated next to our moraka infringing on our grassland and these masimo owners come with cattle some are placed as feedlot and rent out water ending up in many more cattle posts. Thus The land being eroded and our cattle having less feed. I will resuscitate the communication with the land board thanks to Mr Sesenyis insightful knowledge today. Today's episode was an eye opener indeed.

The discussion was insightful, with the interviewee offering valuable perspective on land, specifically the unlocking of value within "tribal" land Holdings.

Here, you actually not only invited an economic giant but a great thinker as well[Mr Sesinyi]. I'm not surprissed though, you have been sourcing brains to our complete disposal with a careful eye. I appreciate. The country is loading to greater heights because of your impact "batlotlegi". You are an extraordinary cream of our society. Young ones will realise what used to happen in class back in the years. Those powerful brains were created in schools they attend.
We only know school performance results. Its high time, we know performance of hospitals, clinics, police stations, e.t.c. rated accross the country to spike performance. Where assessment and rating is not done, growth is unlikely.

-"We took government, but we didn't take a hold of governance!"
-"When the white man leaves, the place then gets dried up. And then we want to go follow them wherever they are, because they know what they are doing, they have got systems."
(Same thing as in S.A, taking "liberation" but not economic freedom, nor understanding of the systems that govern. Education (read, knowledge) is important. Only when we learn existing systems and why they are, can we develop as we will/desire, based on what we know and what we aspire for.
Cecil John Rhodes was a master strategist - from the building of Kimberly, to railways, to concessions.
Please give us recommended readings so we are empowered. 📚🙏🏾

The problematic water table (deep boreholes, low yield, high salinity) in many areas, and harsh climate with low erratic rainfall make farming in Botswana challenging. As someone who at one time looked into the purchase of a ranch in Botswana, I suggest that the viable model for Botswana is very large freehold ranches owned by professional farmers with substantial capital. Small scale farming is not viable on land with low erratic rainfall, which makes up 50% of Botswana. Game ranching is the best and highest use in many of these low rainfall areas. Game farms need to be very large to be viable. In other words, traditional farming on small freehold farms in not likely to succeed. When South Africa's game ranching industry collapses (within 5 years due to expropriation), Botswana will be the only good place left and will thus be able to earn economic rents from game farming (trophy hunting).
