At the end I feel sorry for afton he though old coaches are useless but the spirit of the coach he killed wanted revenge and now he is stuck with it and can’t find peace I feel sorry for him but he told sir Handel to treat them with respect and it changed him.

maybe the reason James came to Sodor is to replace Afton after he disappeared
