Van Dyke quoting Brian brought me to tears. "My work is done, I think I did my work. I worked hard. When I was very young I did a lot of good work." Indeed you did Brian.
Thank you for posting this series. I love how Brian's daughters talked about forgiveness. It was so touching for me. I love Brian and I hope to meet him and Melinda someday.
I think it's amazing that Melinda gets to hear Brian's music that he just creates for himself and not to record. Just the act of creating....not for money or glory or anything. And I feel bad for Marilyn, because she suffered quite a lot too and had to put up with so much stuff and try to raise the kids. I'm so happy that Brian made it and is still with us today. He inspires me more than anyone!!
Very much looking forward to watching the biopic Love and Mercy based on the reviews and audience reactions I've read. Some have complained about how Landy is portrayed as practically a mustache-twirling villain, but judging from what I've read and seen that's pretty much on the money. What an opportunistic creep.
amazing that brian is still there and carl and denis are gone....great story......the beach boys are up there with the beatles...they represented a golden era in the 1960`s.
I came across this bio just by chance. I was bored trying to find something to watch. I found myself captivated by each segment. I don't even have any special love for Brian Wilson or The Beach Boys, but the guy was a genius for sure. I do really like the song "God Only Knows". I am glad he reconciled with his daughters and his ex-wife Marylin kicks ass! She went trough a lot of crap. Go Marylin!
wow.. what a rollercoaster of emotions I felt watching this.. everything from pure joy and nostalgia to profound sadness and heartbreak.. so I can only imagine that those emotions were 10 fold for Brian..If I had to pick one word that would sum up Brians life and talents he shared with the world.. it would be Blessed.. Brian is truly one of a kind, and I will bawl my eyes out the day he leaves this world.. its already hard enough for me not to get depressed when I think about how many people hes lost that were so close to him, and how despite loving all of them like mother, brothers, landy, and even his father despite all there disagreements..there is only ONE BRian wilson
Wow what a life he led. I'm exhausted after watching this. It must of been so hard for him after losing his mother & then Carl 3 months later. He has a great support system now which is all that matters in the end!
I came to youtube to find something on Brian Wilson because of the Wrecking Crew documentary currently on Netflix. Thank you so much for posting this, Yaggsionhimen; much appreciated
What the hell is this guy { Joe Thomas } talking about at 4:25.....???? I am from California, live in Santa Cruz CA, and was born in Newport Beach CA & just last week watched along with nearly (TWENTY THOUSAND) screaming fans at The Hollywood Bowl, as The Beach Boys were ADORED by their loyal & loving fans at the 50th Anniversary Tour , LA Show.... .....anyways...........I think Mr Thomas needs to get his facts straight......Californians LOVE LOVE LOVE Brian Wilson & The Beach Boys
Regardless of what you think of Joe Thomas, it was VERY therapeutic to get Brian out of California & gain some fresh perspective. (He always kept a home in Calif. even during the time in Illinois.) Personally, I think Thomas was right because there's always been a NoCal - SoCal split on music scenes. After the Haight-Ashbury era, the SoCal scene looked awfully "yesterday." The Midwest had historically been a strong reservoir of goodwill (as well as England) for seeing the Beach Boys in concert and buying their music regardless of the latest E/W coast trends. The rest of the BB knew this from all of their endless touring, but Brian has always been a homebody (at least until the changes with Melinda and him touring again.) So he may not have really recognized how so many people outside of his SoCal vicinity STILL loved him, after all those years.
Mike was depicted in Wouldn't It Be Nice as a money-hungry stud muffin. He's not my favorite Beach Boy to be sure, but I've always perceived him as multi dimensional and he's obviously very articulate. I've never wondered for even a second why the book pissed him off.
Yeah...it's more up to date and has a lot more information and interview footage about Smile, which was passed over quite rapidly in this doco - almost seems to take the position that Smile was basically a mistake.
@mangoshakess Have you heard? The original SMiLE album is going to finally be released this year with the approval of all the surviving members. Awesome!
It's too bad! Because this isn't the end of the story. Also, Wendy was pretty damn fine in the early 90s...and Marilyn was something else to back in the day! I can see why Brian had a thing for her. Still a lovely woman.
What I'd like to know How does someone made of wax like Melinda get discoved by a modeling agency while someone as gorgeous and beautiful as Marilyn doesn't? that's so wrong and not fair Go Team Marilyn Brian and Marilyn Forever
What missing here is the part when after Melinda melts Marilyn reuses her as a candle Go Team Marilyn Brian and Marilyn Forever Melinda married Brian not only for money but to get rid of her awful maiden name which is Ledbetter HA HA LOL
Brian didn't want to be married to Marilyn anymore. It was HIS idea to split. He moved on to someone he did want to be married to. You seem obsessed with this. Melinda died, so you need to let this go and delete your ugly comments. Not everyone thought Marilyn was as attractive as you do.
There NEVER, EVER will be another Brian Wilson. The man was beyond genius. His music was, and is still, the music of my life.
That's the truth! I fully agree 👍🌟

It's an awesome movie... Brian Wilson is a genius

The way I see it is "the Beatles are up there with the Beach Boys." Half-full, not half-empty.
Wow. This was fascinating. What a beautiful man and an amazing talent.Thank you so very much for this upload.

Amazing. Thanks for the work of getting this up. Probably the best docu about the Beach Boys/Brian Wilson I've ever seen. =) Cheers.

A gifted and talented genius who took us to heavenly dimensions in music 🎵 with the sweetest vibrations 💖 - Steve G.
Brian Wilson was a better singer than Paul McCartney, a better songwriter than Lennon/McCartney, and a better producer than George Martin.
not sure about 'better', but i definitely adore his personality more than any of the beatles
thanks for the best doc. Ive seen on RUclips!

Thanks for the share! Really enjoyed this docu.
That said, advanced happy 70th, Brian!
Brian Wilson A&E Biography.
Last I heard, it's out of print and only on VHS.
Thanks a lot for putting this up. Really enjoyed it.
Wigg, Beautiful Dreamer is well worth watching. Better than Endless Harmony.
Brian Wilson my Nigga
Beautiful.
BOY DID I ENJOY THAT! THANKS!

yeah, I had to get it at my local library. haha cool find.
At 3:00, what version of Warmth of the Sun is that?
Murray couldn't even beat it into Bryan to stay away from the phonies

❤🌟👍
This is the final instalment by the way.

"mike loves brian". insta-pun, bruce.
@aftershock71 me too I agree

dunno about Melinda, but Joe Thomas was pretty awful.

All glory be to Jesus Christ
