  • Bay Area Rapid Transit 10-car ABBBBBBBBA Legacy Fleet train on Red line (R line) to Richmond
On 09/11/1972, BART began service with their brand new A and B cars. They were arranged in AA and ABA consists. These Legacy fleet (A, B, C1, C2 cars) trains have been in service every single day since 1972. Yesterday was their final day in normal scheduled service. Although they may still be in service for contingency and special operations, this was the final scheduled run of a Legacy train.
Starting 09/11/2023, BART's Fleet of the Future trains (D, E cars) will be used on every scheduled run. After starting service in 2018, they've run more and more frequently, until recently, most of BART's trains have been FOTF. My first ever ride in a subway was on a BART Legacy car in the early 1990s. Over 50 years scheduled service with the Legacy fleet comes to an end '72-'23. Scheduled BART service now exclusively with the new Bombardier BART Fleet Of The Future cars.

One of these trains appears on a "The Wonder Years" episode! I don't know what episode was, but they looked very futuristic at its time.
It reminds me of the Alsthom Atlantique 10000系 of Caracas Metro, the trains that opened the first subway line in Venezuela.
Sorry for these babes to go out of service, and more in an sensitive date for all our neighbours of the North 😞
Greetings to all America from your brothers Tepe Indies from Central Mexico Region.

Thank you for the decades of service Legacy Fleet. I hope they keep you on display somewhere or let someone keep a momentum like the signs, maps or security straps.

I have this great idea. Let's spend money to lay down station tiles that show you where the 2 doors are, and then buy new trains with three doors that don't match up with the tiles, and then let Gavin Newsom invest in a tile manufacturing plant and sell us new tiles, and then have a union employ new workers who give to Gavin Newsom to take out the perfectly good tiles and replace them with the new tiles.
