I was lucky to get the chance to ride these on my trip to San Francisco back in July, sad that they're going to be retired soon but honestly, it's for a good cause that they enjoy a much needed retirement. It'll take a while to get used to the new fleet, but the old ones certainly won't be forgotten. Excellent catches
Only visited SF once back in 2018 and I rode these. I was amazed at how fast they were compared to what we have in New York. Looks like there's still quite a bit of these still running, despite their going out of service next week.
They're almost all gone now. The railfans have been hunting the last remaining ones over the last week. The end of an era! But the new trains are a looooooooot nicer. I'm sad to see the old girls go, but it was time to upgrade to modern standards.
My last ride on one of the Rohr A and B Cars was on April 12, 2023 one for San Francisco Airport and the other for Antioch. I also saw one C1 car at the Pittsburgh train yard along with serveral A and B Cars in April 2023 and that was the last time I saw one the the Alstom C1 cars before they were retired in June 2023. I have several pictures of the A, B, C1, and C2 cars as well as the Bombardier D and E Cars( Fleet of the Future).
R.I.P legacy fleet 1970-2023 the last time i rode bart was that legacy fleet to oakland airport now when i go back to california in june 2024 there will be fleet of the future trains
Man will I miss those Used to watch them out my window every day. Then we moved. Now these will be no longer. Thankfully we have the western railway museum!
I found on the BART site that a “public retirement ceremony is planned for the legacy fleet in 2024.” I won’t be able to come to the Bay to ride for the final day in about a week or so. Do you know anything about that ceremony or can you confirm?
Sad to see these go. Been riding them all my life and I will miss them. However, have to say, the FOTF trains are a lot better. Hopefully we'll get to see them in a museum some day.
Definitely a sad sight seeing all the legacy stock stored at the Richmond and Hayward yards, but oh well. Perhaps I'll be lucky and catch a one off ride on a legacy train before they're formally retired! The FOTF cars are nice, though the seats are a little uncomfy...
I can’t wait to see them Im sad their retiring me and mom are coming out their for my birthday on the 16th I’m a New York native that move to LA I can’t miss this Chance to finally get on them and ride them and in-joy a different City
I wish they kept at least one of the and C1's for special events or nostalgia rides. They really grew on me throughout the years, HECK my iPhone screen savers consist of C cars. 1 at Embarcadero station and multiple C cars at the Colma railyard which 5 year old me dubs Magic Bart Land. I'll miss the A cars very much too mainly because it was kind of a dice roll if me and my family would ride those ones. If I saw it, I could barley contain my excitement. As much as I'll miss these, I'm happy to welcome the fleet of the future trains or D and E cars if you will. Considering these old things ran for 50 years, we were kinda due for a change.
@@catvoncrimson666 they all used to buzz before the A and B cars got rebuilt into A2 and B2 cars from 1998-2002... i think you can hear it if you look up bart videos from the 1990s
@@catvoncrimson666 The buzzing noise is actually from the original Westinghouse DC Chopper motors that are retained as spares for the Rohr cars. That’s why you sometimes hear the buzzing noise itself while the train is slowing down.
I don’t approve of this removal. The nostalgia from when I used to go to San Francisco on Bart when they only had the legacy fleet hit so hard when I finally got back on Bart this past august. I am going to miss them and that iconic howl noise I love so much
The riders kinda hate them at this point. They need to upgrade to modern standards. These are extremely hard to clean and hence perpetually grimy. They also break down about twice as often as the new fleet. It was time! This is good.

Good old days I used to ride the legacy fleet, I wish that Bart save one train to the railroad museum or so
Western Railway Museum will save three cars, A2, B2, and C1
Well you're in luck!!! The railroad museum has saved an A, B and C car.
@@ATPTransit oh ok
@@catvoncrimson666 great!

I was alive when they didn't have the fleet of the future yet. They had 3 car trains too!
Wow, I cannot believe there was a time that BART run 3 train cars!
Sometimes 2 car trains@@Alejandro-vn2si
It was mainly on the Orange Line during the 2010’s.
@jlbraswell5961 I thought that was in the 70s not 2010s. Interesting!
I’m heading out on September 9th to say my goodbyes, gonna be on the system all day
Thanks for this video as I have not gotten a ride on the old trains!
I dont care what people say, these old Rohr cars are so cool
They are cool, but it's time for an upgrade. We can't keep cruising on nostalgia. It's been 50 years forgossakes 😁
This Channel needs a thousand subs 👍👏

As a New Yorker, I have only been to San Francisco once, so I hope to be there in 2024 for the last run

Yes, an event will happen sometime after they are pulled from scheduled service
Can you post the link?

maybe in the future ill try to hunt a legacy fleet and buy it
This is so sad

I loved the C car/original A and B car buzz :(
@@truefacts128 It was the C cars that had that buzz. The A cars kinda did have that but slightly.

I'm gonna try to ride the old train before it's gone forever🏃😩
Awesome fleets, they're like bullet train wannabes lol
