Dumfries Spearhead , I get a lot of positive attention. It’s hard to explain, but the affect is mind blowing really. Many men respond to me. It’s almost like they are drawn and mesmerized to me. They stop and stare, smile more, tell me my dress, myself, or both look pretty. It feels like honey attracting bees. Many don’t approach to say a thing, but I feel as if my presence is felt. When I wear pants, the contrast makes me feel invisible tbh. If you wear makeup and a dress, even if you have a mask on, the men still notice. And the interesting thing is, you don’t have to wear a provocative dress. Just wear a modest yet attractive dress sometime, and you’ll see.

I’ve been just keeping my hair in head wraps during this covid crisis since I’m just going to work most days. I just wash, condition and moisture my hair and have it in chunky braids that aren’t tight. I’ve been enjoying it. Between that and the mask I’m kind of covered but I’m just want to take this entire year till summer to focus on clearing my skin, growing my hair and improving my health, body and mind. I’ve joined a gym, cooking my own food and reading more. I don’t like covid but I’m shockingly finding balance and growth during this time! I hope everybody here always has a growth journey!

Can we talk about how going to the salon to get protective styles done isn’t always so productive. Why does it feel like I have to compromise between the look of the style and taking care of my hair.
Alot of the beauticians don't understand key details that we have learned online in the natural hair community. Some of them do but every time I go there, I feel like they cause more breakage to my hair. Especially Africans salons. They're money hungry. They're very talented with hair styling but they cannot understand the ideology of DETANGLING the hair properly which is why I get so much breakage. A lot of African salons won't even deep condition your hair either. It's crazy how much knowledge we know of black hair, that they don't learn in cosmetology school or in their careers.

I kept my hair in twists like this until it was longer than the fake hair--shoulder length. Now I twist my own using the twisting/care skills I learned by having the fake twists...like practice for the real thing. It's a great approach for the growth stage. I soak the fake hair in vinegar to get rid of the chemical/oil coating on the bulk hair tho. Don't want that soaking in my scalp.

don't go to salons they most likely will never care about your hair as much as you do

I've done this too. It grew faster bcoz all I was doing was washing and moisturizing.
Do you use ACV or regular vinegar? And how do you get rid of the smell?

@@kirieltee use acv. you can condition it if you are afraid of the smell but make sure it is dry before you put it in your hair.
