Lock every door, pumpkin spice cafe, persuasion, inheritance games, graveyard book, city baker’s guide to country living, home before dark, if we were villains, jane eyre, and very secret society of irregular witches are my mandatory reads for this fall! And then whatever else i end up reading 😅😅
Kingdom of Ash, One Dark Window duology, and A Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches (also my book club's Oct pick lol) are the ones I'll definitely be reading. Also want to dive into more dark academia and literary fiction. I'm currently reading The Will of the Many and it's amazing, def gets more exciting as it goes on and I heard the ending is crazy.
I'm starting my fall TBR with The Spellshop and it couldn't be more perfect for a cozy fantasy vibe. The rest of my TBR is much darker though: A Dark and Drowning Tide, Lady Macbeth, anything T. Kingfisher, This Ravenous Fate, If We Were Vilians!
I feel you, I live in Texas so it’s still 90°+ here, but it’s Fall in my heart 🍂 I’m actually reading Weyard right now and really liking it so far! And just finished The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry a couple weeks ago and agree, loved it so much and definitely felt like Fall to me too. I also loved Ninth House, The Guest List, and The Great Gatsby!
@@jaimefokmy bestie/book dealer has definitely helped expand my tastes, I’ve read so many new books and genres I never thought I’d be into and have loved. But I have you and a couple other of my fav book tubers to thank for A.J. Fikry, saw y’all give it so much praise I had to check it out ❤
I’m also planning to read Starling House! I’m so excited for fall and fall books 😊 the rest of my fall tbr is Belladonna, Pumpkinheads, Dracula, An Education in Malice, Death at Morning House, Legendborn, and Nettle & Bone! They are all set during fall or just seem to have fall atmospheres 😊
Howl's Moving Castle is VERY different from the movie. I read the trilogy a couple of years ago because I loved the Ghibli movie but didn't love the books like I did the movie - though it was still a worthwhile read in the end. I haven't picked out my fall TBR yet.
Impressive group of books. Thanks for doing this video. Two books I want to read in October (as it is Halloween month) are Goth by Otsuichi and You Like It Darker by Stephen King. Your video reminded me that I want to read Little Women by the end of the year. I read half of it a while back. I liked it, but I stopped and never got back to it. I also want to read Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen by the end of the year.
I recently started 'The Will of the Many'. It's a lot more world -building heavy than a lot of the fantasy I've been reading, so I'm reading it a lot slower than usual but I'm enjoying it so far ☺️
Making my way through Hazel Beck's Witchlore series. They are fun and light - not much spice, but plenty of romance. My non-fiction pick is Waking the Witch by Pam Grossman, which I've just started but I am a fan of her podcast. Love books with witches, magic, and folklore, especially going into the fall and winter months! 🍂🍁🍃 I've added The Unmaking of June Farrow to my TBR pile 😊
Fall is my favorite, so I love a fall rec & TBR video! I’m 80% through Weyward and really enjoying it! I have read several of the other recs, and just borrowed Gallant from my library via Libby (I love VE Schwab). I’m excited to follow along as you work through your TBR! I have an ambitious TBR, too. Some of them are: A Song to Drown Rivers (can’t wait after you raved about it!), The Lies of Locke Lamora, Six Crimson Cranes, The Great Alone, Piranesi, Tress of the Emerald Sea, and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. Pretty fantasy heavy, but that’s my favorite genre.
Oh, also! I thought Fairy Tale was a good read. Very different from the other books I have read by Stephen King. It had its issues. But as a lover of fantasy, I liked how reality blurred into fantasy and I thought it was overall a fun time!
I’m so excited to read “Pumpkinheads” by Faith Erin Hicks 🎃 I think you would really appreciate the fall ambiance that this cute graphic novel provides Jaime (:
I’m reading Weyward after finishing all the ACOTAR books! Going very slowly since I started a new job but it’s a nice treat at the end of the day! I’ll have to read the Adrienne Young books after 👀
Loved this! I just made a video on my fall list of books it’s only a few. But Stephen king takes up most of the list! If you like Will of Many, you might like Name of the Wind. It’s my favorite book of all time. Very cozy for fall and winter!
I have The Phantom of the Opera and Slow Productivity on my ready to go fall list. My husband and I are also listening to the Norel and Strange book whose actualI title I can never remember and it’s quite fitting for fall. I think the rest will be spontaneous picks because schoolwork is taking up more time that I’d like.
Also, you have such a slight plug that you are engaged because of your missing engagement ring! Congrats Jaime❤ I hope you have an amazing wedding whenever the time comes for you🎃
i don't have a fall tbr still. i definitivly have to set mine up! you mentioned some very interesting books that i will maybe purchase :) my top recommondation for a fall vibe book is "the thief lord" by cornelia funke. it literally starts with a description of Venice in fall. Howl's Moving Castle is soooo different from the movie. It's still great, but a little more wacky/whimsical. It's a Very light book, technically a middle grade novel if I remember. There are three books written in this universe or is it a series?? by D.W.J., but I have not read the other two as of yet, so I have no input there. I remember reading the darkest part of the forest a while back, and I remember not hating it.. but not like.. loving it. I'm curious to see what you think. I definitely prefer the Cruel prince series. I'm currently reading The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie, and Because I have 3 kids and September has been just us getting used to school routines again, I've been reading at a snail's pace.
