The current hype around AI tools feels similar to the hype surrounding voice search a few years ago - albeit, the AI tools of today are on a different level.
This video provides an overview of AI and its subsets such as NLP, machine learning, and deep learning. You will gain an understanding of how ChatGPT and other large language models work. By understanding the strengths, weaknesses, and limitations of these tools, we can make better guesses on how they will impact SEO.
While the full extent of the impact of AI tools like ChatGPT, Bard, and Sydney on search engine optimization is not yet clear, it is likely that there will be winners and losers. Watch the video to learn more about the possible impact of AI tools on SEO.

The issue would be then if AI can do SEO all SEO would be equal meaning parts of SEO would be standardised but other areas would become the forefront of an SEOs job like advising and human relationships (like mentioned) and helping get the strategy for the business right to focus on. I see it in time changing but it’s got a while yet before it can heavy lift the majority. Plus someone will have to manage the AI tools to ensure the brand is kept on the right track.

AI has been evolving very fast recently. People are predicted to use AI agents for content search and discovery, drammatically reducing the number of querries. Goole might change their ranking algorithm accordingly. E.g. "experience" can be reproduced by LLMs (prompt: "act as..." ).

Great video Sam,It got me thinking about how AI is becoming more mainstream, and honestly, I think it's a pretty cool thing. It's a game-changer because it saves us so much time on those boring article tasks. Now we SEO folks can focus on creating more detailed, exciting, and real-life content that requires research and maybe even some travel adventures.
The future is looking super exciting, but I do have a small worry for the next generation of SEO professionals. With AI doing a lot of the heavy lifting, they might miss out on the foundational stuff like keyword research and other important SEO tasks. It's like they'll be doing SEO without fully grasping the basics because AI will handle it all. That could make those foundational skills seem a bit redundant down the line.
But hey, overall, I'm optimistic and pumped about what lies ahead. We just need to make sure that the next generation gets a solid understanding of the foundations, so they can adapt and make smart decisions as AI continues to advance. Just my thoughts and ironically this was edited by Chat GPT😂

Agree with everything across the board. But, I think that the window for SEO professions is even narrower because any form of "How-To" content is better served by AI, period. Whether it requires expertise or not. In fact, the more expertise is required, the more AI shines.
With AI, you can get succinct step by step instructions to a problem, hone in on any step you don't understand, and ask for explanations or workarounds, and even have the AI interact with your problem directly. The way it fixes code (an expert topic) is a good example for that. And that's just the early stages, I'm sure we're not far off having augmented reality and image recognition baked into AI to enhance how we can communicate with it, and how it feeds answers to us. You can put as much quality you want into your content, but you can't beat the interactivity and back-and-forth the AI provides.

AI can not get real world experience - ok, agreed. But it can get all the experience that people publish about. Travel articles? What about training it with every travel blog and travel journal and tourist marketing a team can get their hand on. Here is a hint: between that and the reviews on sites there is little an AI can not summarize and then spit out as their own experience. Nothing is uniquely new in this field. Same with product reviews. i t does not matter that the AI has the experience as long as it can demonstrate experience. And how would google know the difference? We are now on a point where AI can be used to prepare the training data for AI - which means we get into the territory of computers making computers better.

I don´t think that people wants to read some text artificially generated about the best hotels or travel spots instead of reading a real persn experience. Even if the AI content is accurate, what is not right now. It is just taking what is already in the web and that does not add much. You will get indexed, but I don´t think AI can rank better than a travel blog like the Booking blog or Trip Advisor.

    • @wonmoreminute
      @wonmoreminute Год назад +2

@@MartinZanichelli It's not about a real travel blog outranking a booking blog, Trip Advisor, or another site with AI content. It's about whether people go to any of those sites at all.
ChatGPT already has an Expedia plugin coming out that will book your entire trip for you. It has a web browser plugin as well that will be able to answer any question you have about the trip and give you the same answers you're going to get from any website.
There are also Chrome and Edge plugins that will summarize the current page for you and provide conversational Q&A about it.
And I suspect before the year is over, Google will have something, possibly their new search engine, that will have all of these capabilities as well and more that we can't even think of yet.

@@wonmoreminute agreed. I get a sense that there's a hyperfocus on how search is in its current state and on making judgments of AI vs Humans within that context. I think your spot on. I don’t want to be negative because I know so many people have SEO as the cornerstone of their income generation one way “affiliates” or another “digital marketing SEO providers”. It’s literally just out of the box and look what it’s doing! Maybe more of a problem for Google is back engineering their EXACT algorithms for search results will be child’s play. You put in the top 5 for millions of serps and they will 100% work backwards and know exactly how and why everything ranks where it does. Now there is a difference between that and what we got now. Now it’s a very educated guess from very talented people that do have the human equivalent of back testing to learn from etc…. and have became close to knowing. But we still have so much that is unknown. What happens then? So fascinating. I tell you one thing when that does happen anything in the mix that you need to rank that involves time like domains age etc will have values thar skyrocket! Because in theory those items should be the only thing holding back from instant placement if someone has the real true algorithms. Makes me want to do nothing but buy domains and treat them like fine wine. The premiums will be disgusting

We started out in 2021 got around 50k views per day with news articles and guides on how to XY. Thing is, we can't produce much unique content. That stuff will never be found or read by anyone. No one links to you, even when they clearly use you as their source. So building up a new domain will be definetely impossible with SGE.

I am sorry but I have to disagree. I got early access to google new search experience where generative AI answer takes your entire screen. the blue links will be pushed down further. it's not the same at all with the snippet answers that you mentioned in the video because those snippets only took half (or even one-third) of your screen, and the same snippet still provides URL to the top ranking, while generative AI does not provide any URL except on the right columns (and even this, I highly suspect Google will replace them with ads).
What matters about SEO is visibility. If your blue link is placed way down below the generative AI answer, most users won't bother to scroll down just to click your website URL, and that will greatly decrease the CTR.
Sure, you can say SEO won't be dead, but if the potential traffic to get from SEO will be far lower, you have to start wondering, is it even worth it anymore? You might be able to get more traffic from the likes of twitter and even TikTok nowadays

Calling ChatGPT (particularly GPT- 4) voice search 2.0 is incredibly naïve. That's like comparing a car with no wheels on blocks to the car you drive every day. One of them works and the other doesn't. Going from voice search to GPT-4 is not a mild version upgrade, or any version upgrade. It's a new species, literally. One is just a dumb, clunky, awkward interface to existing search. The other passes exams 99% of people can't even pass, can run software with APIs and plugins, and has the potential to be in everyone's ear like Scarlett Johansson in HER.

SEO will never dead because it's all about search box where we do queries. AI won't able to do that.

I'm not sure what you mean. AI IS the search box. Every time we type something into a search box, we're asking an algorithm to give us an answer. As long as the answer remains a page of blue links we'll be okay. But that's up to Bing, Google, and user behavior and very little to do with AI at this point. GPT-4 (especially once connected to the web) will be more than capable of handing most queries. So it's not a matter of AI killing SEO. It already can for the most part. Now it's just a matter of how Google and Bing implement it, and how people use it.
And the argument that AI can't create new content has nothing to do with whether people use it as their search engine (daily assistant, companion, or whatever) or not. If they do, traffic on sites will drop and people will stop creating new content for the web. So, we all lose. But it wouldn't be the first time people did something against their better long-term interests.

@@wonmoreminute about ai, requires data. Let's say you told ai to give you tips about how to make website indexing fast. Gpt will collect data on the highest success rate content which has well-optimized, plagiarism checked, and good review and then AI bakes its way and bring it on your table. How because those content was optimized by the SEO guy properly. Same as other niches.

@@Nadir-Ul-Kaysar-Handsome-VAI don't know about you, but I don't have time to spend hours, in some cases days as I do now, to create content optimized for search just so AI can bake it and put on someone's table. I, and most SEOs, do what we do so that people consume our content as it was written, already baked. I can't afford to spend my days shopping for ingredients and doing the food prep just so AI can prepare the finished meal and get all the credit.
In other words, it doesn't matter if AI needs data. If people are not financially compensated for supplying that data, they'll be swapping out their keyboards for work boots to put food on their table. They won't have time to provide data.
Again, this has nothing to do with AI at this point, or what AI needs. All we're waiting for now are the new search tools and how people use them. For example, there is no way that multiple companies are not right now working on a personal AI assistant like Jarvis that everyone will have in their ear. That's the holy grail of capturing consumer attention and loyalty.
And anyone who has used GPT-4 on a daily basis knows how natural the conversation can be and how good a teacher it can be. As it continues to learn and token counts increase, it's going to be very hard to create content that can compete. People just won't consume content the way they do anymore.
Yesterday I was signing up for a new tool and instead of going through the terms to understand the commercial rights and who maintained ownership of the content it helps create, I just copied the terms, gave to to GPT-4 and asked it questions. I think that's how most people will increasingly choose to consume content (minus the copy and paste), and the unfortunate result is that content creators can't monetize that.
