What benefits of minimalism have you noticed in your life?
Less cleaning
Peace 😊
Less things to dust.
I’d always envied that scene in The Fly where Jeff Goldblume opens his closet and has 8 versions the same suit in there. He wanted to reduce the number of decisions in his day. That’s a big part of it. It’s like a present that you give yourself later. Whether it’s. Waking up to a clean kitchen or being completely happy pulling anything out of my closet to wear, it’s liberating!
I have more time to spend with my family and friends.
Have less worries/stress
Learning and realized that I'm enough.
Thanks Gabe! All the best in 2023
I agree. I found voluntary simplicity in my twenties and thirty years of living that way has made us millionaires. We never needed much so as our incomes grew and we had no debt we saved the difference. We drive cars ten years or older, built a modest house, no debt, buy what we need and only buy luxuries that add value to our life. We live fairly minimally. We value being outside, exercise, reading and hanging out with family. That time makes me feel richer than my bank accounts. Love the video.
For sure it all works together super well
please share your journey on youtube if you guys are comfortable
Such a smart guy.
everything will end soon... the world of people as they are is ending
Very similar to me and my wife! Everyone thinks I’m broke 😂
My husband has Parkinson's and since I removed all the clutter and all the extra furniture he can get around a lot easier in his wheelchair. I have also noticed a calming in him since the clutter is gone. I put up just a very few Christmas decorations and relied on balsam candles and Christmas music to decorate our home and he seemed so peaceful and happy with it. With Parkinson's he can get very agitated and physically rocky. A calm environment is essential to his well being. We say no to most social activities out of necessity because of his disease and our life is very simple and very beautiful. We have created a home that we don't want to escape from. My goal is to keep him home and out of care facilities. We do have help come in. Because we have been frugal we can easily afford the help and I am happy to pay for it. Our CNAs are like family and our employment of them helps them immensely. Win win! Happy New Year Gabe! So glad you showed your little daughter at the end of your video I was wondering if she went with you! That is very cool!
Lovely to hear how you've made things work for you with regard to living with Parkinsons. Wonderful that you've been able to achieve a calming environment for your husband. Wishing you a happy New Year x x
You are a very loving wife ☺️🙌
Wishing u and ur husband the best of health and happiness. U r such a good loving caring wife.
The #1 reason for reducing the amount of possessions that I "owned" is because I realized they owned me and my time. Too much of life was spent paying for a house to provide "climate control storage" for items I purchased but rarely if ever used. Really sad to look back on my life on how blind I was to the situation and what I was missing to buy, clean, organize, move stuff. Not quite done but now I have time to spend or help friends and family that I didn't have in the past.
Well said! My thoughts exactly.
Thank you for sharing ur experience Darren.
We had to only get each of our three boys only 4 presents for Christmas out of financial distress this year, and not even four good presents. Each got a Lego and a video game, a toothbrush, and one other small item. It was very minimalistic out of necessity. But it ended up being amazing. We normally would have filled the tree with so many presents, that several were cheep filler items, or things they never even really end up playing with, or break. Same with thier stickings, just a few good items, or treats, no break in 5 min cheep stuff, that costs more in the long run. It saved us so much money, so much clean up afterward, and they boys didn't feel like they went without. I actually want to do it like this every year, even when we are better off financially. Or even wrap certificates for family activities. I really think this will save us time, space, and money!
We always give 3-4, it is amazing because it makes the kids appreciate what they receive. As soon as it's more, they just want even more. My husband and I don't even get each other Christmas gifts anymore, we feel like we don't need them. Life lived more simply ❤
For sure! We did that with our daughter. Spending time together and doing things is better then having 20 random things 80% of them won’t even get used much
@@GabeBult Exactly!
I certainly agree with you..After watching your videos I put all my estates for rent. I also decided to travel & live from my pensions from three different countries that allowed me to live in magnific beach front properties in different countries such as Mexico, Costa Rica and The Phillipines
Later I realized I also did not need all of that stuff so I stated living only.in 5 stars hotels. This idea was sooo much better because now I dont have cook or do laundry anymore and I have my room clean & bed sheets changed single everyday !
My last move was selling my cars & now I only rent a brand new models in every destination I go.
I also dont carry too much stuff anymore. Instead I simply buy only what I need when I need including my clothes. This makes me feel far more local in the comunity I am on that moment. Sooo.much easier !
Thank you
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂.....great reply!
I'm practicing minimalism by putting something in use till the very end but people around me think I'm frugal and not enjoying life. I try not to be affected but still feel upset.
If that’s what makes you feel good, try not to feel upset. It’s your life, not theirs. Does it feel good putting something to use till the end of its useable life? Then do it. On the flip side, they’re not around you offering to pay your debt for keeping up with the Jones’s, are they?
The main thing I learned from it is that I can easily live of my disability money, but I wish I had known these things earlier then I wouldn’t have been working until my body stopped working properly and would have been able to enjoy life more.
Sometimes you have to say enough is enough and take control of your lifestyle. We as humans think that buying a lot materialistic things makes us happy but in reality it doesn’t.
There is a serenity about your demeanor that only comes with minimalism. All the best to you and your loved ones in 2023.
My life was hectic, financially and being surrounded by a lot of “stuff” I started Following the Dave Ramsey plan at the beginning of the pandemic. As I worked the baby steps I somehow found myself being more of a minimalist without even realizing. Now that I’ve freed myself of a lot im going to now work towards a better version of being a minimalist.
I have learnt that clutter creates chaos.........I have accumulated so many things that I never use.........I hope to slowly declutter and learn to just throw out or give away what I don't need..........previously I was a person who kept almost everything, as I thought perhaps I would need it one day........I was afraid of throwing out..........I have learnt that it is good to just get rid of what I don't need or use............It's been a hard learned lesson for me
A lot less stress in my life since becoming a minimalist. Your videos continue to teach me and help me strive for what I really want in my life! Thank you sir
This is so great! I just subscribed. My husband and I are on a journey of intentional living. We’re fasting from streaming services for the year 2023. And I have been working ruthlessly eliminating and reorganizing our stuff for the new year. We have lots of things we want to do creatively and in ministry but have been feeling stretched for time and overwhelmed so this year we want to be extra focused and allow ourselves to fill our lives with the Good stuff. I’ve been reading “To Hell with the Hustle” and it’s really helped get me excited for the new year. Your channel is helping too! God bless you and your family!!
Well done! Totally motivated. Love my newly decluttered house. Man, once you go through everything, EVERYTHING in your house and give it the “hell yes/no” test, it gives you a great sense of peace. That, in turn, creates more space, which, in turn, makes you realize how little space you really need.
Starting by sitting in my main room and imagining/visualizing some task getting done to the point where I have an emotional response to it. Like, “ooh, nice, ahhhh…clean cupboards!”. At that point I’m absolutely compelled to do the work because I’ve deeply felt the reward. Total brain hack. Works every time.
Thank you for the reminding me how much minimalist has benefit my life. I was just on amazon looking at stuff...an ur video poped up...thank you. Saving money has lead me to pay off everything and now be able to give to thos that need it. Keep up the great video
I'm so happy to see baby Laura growing up with parents in the present.
Costa Rics looks incredible!
Thank you for the reality check I needed. Now when I sit down to Netflix, I'll hear Gabe's voice about what I do in my downtime. Lol
I can tell you, after getting cancer with America's dismal healthcare system, if I had debts I probably would have died of starvation! That's what minimalism did for me.
I beat the cancer.
Good work soldier 🙏
this video got me to subscribe to you. the message you said about living right now instead of worrying about the future and thinking about the past really hits me
Currently in the mindset of saving as much as I can being 21 but I feel like I need to find a balance of what’s healthy when it comes to spending/ saving
Good refresher for me to start off 2023 with your effective advice! Happy ‘23!
We live quite modestly too, most things we buy for our kids. We didn't save as much money though, because we put it into our house and my husband has an expensive hobby. Also with kids childcare and working less makes a really big dent in your financials.
As soon as the house is done and kids go to kindergarden however we will save more. I just hope it will actually get done! I really hope I won't get stuck in the "what next" trap.
First time commenting in ur channel.
Pura vida, so glad you are enjoying our country, I moved back from LA to Costa Rica 20 years ago. The pandemic taught me that I don’t need that much money nor material things to live well
Thanks for commenting!
As I’m starting my journey ( 1 year in), I’ve realized how less stressed I am. Also, it’s been healing for me to get rid of stuff . I love this journey because it’s so Eli berating ❤
don't berate Eli. He's a nice guy.
2:47 I was waiting for him to say that one of the ways he became richer through minimalism was through selling the concept to other people. It seems that every minimalist on here is making a fortune from RUclips or from selling decluttering in 30 days courses or whatever. Everyone’s a grifter.
One of the best things I've done to grow as a person with minimalism! It is such a beautiful practice to have in life. Thanks for this video Gabe :)
You're 2 minutes to decluttering works perfect! I climbed a mountain in 2 minutes. I had several projects to take on that I kept putting off. Thanks for the suggestion!
Minimalism for me was a slow process. My mom was a hoarder. I took almost nothing when I moved out. I bought a rug. It was a proud purchase. Then I bought a bed and a few other items. I was forced to move back in with my parents. She stole the rug. I asked where it was. She had it shoved in her attic. I demanded it back. She acted like I was stealing it. I had purchased it from a friend for $10. It had become a prized possession, not just more junk. I realized I didn't want to be like her. I got older and owned more and more stuff. It hit me that I was becoming my mother. I started weeding everything out annually a little at a time. Nowadays I'm down a lot of stuff. Our finances are up a lot.
Wow so inspiring just discover your channel and I’ve learned so much! Time is our most valuable assets ❤that statement change my perspective on life! You are great and so inspiring thank you so so so much!
Your video has given me a better understanding of how to balance my life and time
Another great video - thanks. Your channel is changing my life. There are others I watch too but none that I like or have got as much from. Thanks again.
I should not ignore this...no more suffer if i take this lesson...👍👍👍..
Tq
main benefits: more time, more money, more fantasy & creativity, less clutter, more experiences, work less because less spent, learn to say no, more freedom
Wow you're in Costa Rica, I hope your stay is amazing, pura vida 🙌🏻
thanks for not making this video 20 min long... you do value time
Well, if you are in a developed country with high income, minimalism can make you rich. But if you are in a developing country and with low income, you are already a part of the millions of people who are minimalist due to low income by default and not due to choice and yet spend their entire lifetimes in poverty.
Yeah but those with low income who continue to be low income tend to be poor even in rich developed countries.
❤so glad that you shared this. our family is sooooooooo on the minimalistic journey. amazing.❤
I dollar saved is a dollar twenty five earned, if you're in the 25% tax bracket. You will do better by concentrating on saving more, rather than earning more.
Subscribed. Right beside your points!
Thanks, Gabe, your sound advice and informative vlogs are inspirational and motivating, I hope you and your family have a lovely Christmas in Costa Rica!!
Man you got some really good advice. Appreciate it.
Beautiful video Gabe. Enjoy your trip!
You need to work hard in order to be somewhere in life.
Yet, there has to be some limit to it.
The way you have to utilise time by working hard, on the other hand, you also have to save time for your personal self by working NOT too hard.
Nobody tells us this.
I am glad you also targeted toxic- productivity through your Minimalist ideas.
Gabe many thanks for your videos over the past year or so since I subscribed. At the moment I'm trying to reduce the amount of 'stuff' I own. My main reason for doing so is portability and necessity around needing funds for studying / exams.
Great video, Gabe. Happy New Year to you and the family.
Many thanks for all your videos throughout the year. Am still surrounded by clutter and no money in the bank, maybe in 2023. All the best for the coming year Game.
Thanks for all your wonderful content. I found Christmas very stressful and wondered "What would Gabe do?" I have two adult/college aged children and a husband who don't share my interest in minimalist. They gave me many gifts, things that I don't need - appliances that I now have to find space for (like a coffee maker made of mostly plastic when I was happily using a ceramic melitta and stainless steel kettle to heat water), a mini-chopper, and a rice cooker. My husband bought himself things that he asked me to wrap and gift to him, like a toaster oven that takes up a huge amount of space on the countertop. Everyday when he uses it he tells me how much he loves it. It is such a struggle. When I mentioned to them that I didn't really need all the appliances, they seemed upset. And if I return the stuff, when they are home they will probably ask where it went and be even more hurt. I guess I should have made it clear before Xmas a little more about my goal to be more minimalist.
Honestly, though it’s hard to admit, THEY are being the selfish ones. Gift giving should be about pleasing the person receiving it. It’s a boundary you have to set in a calm manner if you’re ready to set it.
@@gunnikr It's like anything though, always balancing one person's desires against another. Christmas aside, I always have to balance my own desire to not have a garage full of junk with my husband's identity as Mr. Fix It who keeps materials and spare parts from every thing that breaks or left over projects, etc. He always has just the right spare part to fix whatever breaks. But I can't stand walking into that garage....
A gift should have no attachments and if you don't need it or want it, you should be free to give it away to someone who might use it.
Each time you upload a video it never fails to disappoint. Such great advice in such a cool way! Love love love your content x
300k subs yehhhhhhhh
Teslaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
we want a vlog for this pleaseeeee
Hi Gabe! Merry Christmas and happy new year in advance!
Merry Christmas!!🎄
less stuff, less stuff to worry about.
I have not watched your videos for a long time until now. I see u have so many subscribers more. Good job, I like your videos
Minimalism is an essence if used properly
Great thoughts you have. Thanks..
less possessions means less to maintain, clean, repair and store. i have trouble purchasing anything for myself as i just dont want to own much.
I am very concerned about retirement. I love the idea of working at a job that we love forever. However, as a long term care nurse I know there comes a point when we physically stop being able to fully care for ourselves, unfortunately. Assistance takes money...a lot. What are your thoughts on how to achieve that long term financial security?
What do you do for breaks and energy boosters? That's where I get caught in procrastination traps and it's worse when I can't easily shake off fatigue and keep pushing.
Ive been selling a bunch of my stuff and I'm starting to realize how much money I actually have.
We were created to walk along side the Lord in the garden. Hard work is actually a curse which we are aversive to, the avoidance of which is not laziness.
Amen
Nice and simple presentation..agree with you!
Minimalism has helped me with my mental state of mind.
thanks for the video.
it helped.
Glad it could help!
I also work less, but also earn less. But on my part, i could balance it with good accounting. The biggest expense for me every year is my kid's education and the expenses that come with it. Next to it is groceries and food. I like to try out different types of food. 😅
Hi I'm new to your channel stumble across your new video. I must say you're living your life living in a home surrounded my nature is my dream.
Time isn’t the most valuable asset, FOCUS IS
Love this!
I dunno how I’d ever be comfortable leaving my job no matter how much money I saved.
Maybe someday but I gotta build something alongside my job so I can monkey branch to something else that’s reliable
Although minimalism is great but I’m not restricting myself,I just don’t desire buying useless stuff
For sure having investments and other streams of income in super important
Sugar cane juice, so good! 😊
Give all your money to the poor and live by faith. That's minimalism.
Decreasing my clutter and buying less has allowed me to use more of my time, money, and energy to help homeless animals which is my primary passion. 😊❤
Top G status of minimalism Gabe Bult
我也是開始極簡之後,發現好多空間跟時間越來越多~~
It was making videos about minimalism which made you rich. But well done for creating your online business
spend less so that I have to work less ... This has got me thinking
Great channel. Thanks for the content.
Excellent motivation
thank you
Living your best life.
Loved the cameo by Laura.
Less but better. I like that.
Totally great video
For now- I have only 6 Coffee cups....I feel liberated really 🤣🤣😅😅
This is so therapeutic
minimalism inverses piggybacking. a bike begets a lock, tube repair kit, water bottle, et. al.
Baby at the end!🥰🥰🥰
Money has always been a cope in my book. I am glad those who really needed can accumulate it through minimalism. Communism, capitalism, fascism and all the isms in the world could not make me consume to stuff I don't need to impress people I don't like.
the door is cool!
Great video 👍
❤️ simple 🔥 but humble ❤️
Over minimalism will lead to a Saint like attitude which in turn will make you self centered down the line.
Very nice
Love that door and floors, who designed it?
Not sure it was an Airbnb
@@GabeBult Reminds me of the Movie.. uh the Hobbit or something.
Ive been doing minimalism in my whole life and its called being poor
Yeah and they act like not having works. Companies don't need those who don't have so that is silly!!!
Interesting!
Well said
great vid!
Hell yeah
Costa Rica 🇨🇷
Define rich
Still escaping instead of spending the most valuable asset you have wisely. Travel can be fun. Sad when it is only another form of escaping. Spending time wisely is rewarding in itself Buy yourself a new ring and maybe even get the Tesla. Some day you will learn things won't make you happy. Learn how to SPEND time NOT just ways to use it to escape your daily routine
