Sally "Thorn" McKnight Scooby Doo and The Witches Ghost (1999) I was so downbad for The Hex Girls lead vocalist when this movie popped up on Cartoon Network 25 years ago that her subsequent appearances In the franchise got a a rise out of me regardless of Animation Quality
20 Women and did not include Helena Bonham Carter except in the ending, but still she is a Goth Queen hell she even married Tim Burton, The King of Gothic Films. I personally would have put her in the Top 10 as Bellatrix or Julia from Dark Shadows
"Living people ignore the strange and unusual. I myself am strange and unusual." Lydia spoke to my awkward, quirky teenage soul, and I love how she finds a surrogate family in the Maitlands, and they in her.
While many people might think that Allison sold out with her makeover, she didn't dress in her dark concealing clothing due to self expression, but to make people pay attention, but not approach. Her love interest clearly liked her as she was, since he remarks on finally being able to see her face properly, and probably wouldn't have minded had she gone back to her previous look.
Pale white skin with black hair, lips and clothing compliment each other making the woman more attractive. That's why light hair, and eyes are favored with dark skin, hair and/or clothing
Can you mention any who enjoyed mainstream success? The most noticeable feature of Goths is their extremely pale skin. I imagine that there aren't a lot of black people with such features.
I think Morticia could be higher. Maybe 1. Lydia,Elvira,Allison. Rime flew fast watching😊Nancy Downs could be number 1. Goth characters can be cool. Great list
Honorable mentions Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch - Marvel Cinematic Universe (2008-) Sonya - “The Babysitter” movies (2017-20) Julie Walker - “Return of the Living Dead III” (1993)
Angela - Night of the Demons is queen. I have quoted that movie w/ friends and family for 30years. I remember telling my mom her cookies looked like sun dried poodle turds when I was just 6 yrs old because of that movie. That and "Stop looking at me" pure gold (neither hers, but just shows how fun the movie is).
What I think is REALLY AWESOME about Tosh Guaneri from "Urban Legend" is that she is played the FANTASTIC Danielle Harris who also played the Cute Little Jamie Lloyd in "Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers" and the Follow Up "Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers" which are 2 of Favorite "Halloween" Movies (by John Carpenter) ("Halloween Resurrections" is my #1 Favorite "Halloween" Movie, but she Danielle is not in it) and those Two Movies, "Halloween 4" and "Halloween 5" are my top Favorite all because of Danielle Harris' SPECTACULAR PERFORMANCE! She was definitely my #1 Favorite Character in the "Halloween" Franchise. (Along with (In no particular Order) Laurie Strode, Tommy Doyle, Busta Ryme, and Miles "Deckard" from "Halloween Resurrection" and Julien from "Halloween 2018" coming after her)
I've only seen Hackers, Mystery Men, Bride Of Chucky, The Breakfast Club, The Addams Family, Beetlejuice franchise, Ginger Snaps and The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo. My favourite Ginger Fitzgerald interacted with her on twitch during Covid period and bits of after. Very nice woman quite a few ironies about her her personality and her not liking horror kind of. Canadian horror I think is underated.
Yes I feel that goth characters are underrepresented in modern cinema on TV or on the DVDs or on Hulu like Kate Acid Burn Libby Hackers and Carol/The Bowler Mystery Men and Angela Franklin Night of the Demons Franchise and Vampira Plan 9 from Outer Space and Lily Munster Munster, Go Home and Tiffany Valentine Bride of Chucky and Allison Reynolds The Breakfast Club and Stokely Stokes Mitchell The Faculty and Morticia Adams The Addams Family and Tosh Guanerl Urban Legend and Kim Diamond Book of Shadows Blair Witch 2 and Lydia Deetz Beetlejuice Franchise and Ginger Fitzgerald Ginger Snaps and Elvira Elvira Mistress of the Dark and Lisbeth Salander The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Nancy Downs The Craft
My original timeline had one Munsters season in black and white, and four seasons in color. My current timeline had two seasons in black and white, then it was canceled. Color made the difference.
The original Mortica Adams from the black and white series was much sexier. Also, movie Wednesday Adams (Christina Ricci) oozes more sexuality than many of these women that all look the same.
My wife was a goth in highschool almost 30 years ago. She kinda reminded me of ginger from ginger snaps. She's a strawberry blonde Latina goth with a mean streak and a firey temper
Allison's makeover can be analyzed in different ways. But while I respect them all, it was one of my first fictional heartbreaks and to this day I skip that part and imagine it never happened.

elvira and lydia deetz
It is absolutely criminal that Elvira wasn't number 1, she's a straight up sex symbol, let alone sexy goth character, she was miles above all of these
Yeah, right? I was expecting her to be number one as well, and I was surprised that she wasn't.
Surprised Vampira isn't on the top.

Elite taste
I think cartoon goth girls get their own list.
20 Women and did not include Helena Bonham Carter except in the ending, but still she is a Goth Queen hell she even married Tim Burton, The King of Gothic Films. I personally would have put her in the Top 10 as Bellatrix or Julia from Dark Shadows
Came here to say Bellatrix like how could they not.
My pick would be in Sweeny Todd but good choice too
I could’ve sworn having clicked on this , she would’ve been somewhere on this
Lydia Deetz was the first movie goth girl I ever saw as a kid. And it's so good to see her back in the Beetlejuice sequel.
Cassandra Peterson, the original Elivira…

I love Allison Sheedy’s transformation at the climax.
11:04 RIP Raul Julia❤ what an amazing actor.. so sad when he passed away😢
YES Goths are very under rated. We need many many more of them
Actress Jennifer Tilly did a great job playing Tiffany in few Chucky movies and the TV series (as the continuation, all three seasons). 😁
There is only ONE Lisbeth. That's Noomi Rapace.
not even a mention of Carolyn Jones' turn as the OG Morticia Addams is outright criminal. not to mention either version of Wednesday.
Exactly! I gave them a downvote and turned it off. Most of it was questionable anyway.
I'm shocked Nancy is number one. Not that I disagree but they have Jennifer Tilly/Tiffany Valentine & Elvira on this list.
Elvira is the goth queen! 🖤
Her along With Morticia
I wonder what made them put Lisbeth in front of Elvira
Lisbeth Salander is my favorite one, she is perfect 🖤
