At the end of the day, sure you saved an hour, didn’t have to pay for an overtime call, got an anxious person out of an elevator a little sooner etc. But you risked killing yourself or at the least doing several thousand dollars worth of damage to equipment that is vital for your building. I am an elevator technician. I’ve been trained and certified and I have been working at this for 13 years. Twice I have had a situation where I wasn’t paying attention and could have fallen or been crushed. I think about those two moments everyday. We have several rules for working safety in my company and unfortunately each one is written in someone else’s blood. Please don’t think you can work on your own elevator especially if it involves getting into the shaft. You’re going to get hurt or die. Just call a professional. There is someone available 24/7 and usually onsite within an hour or two.
This video is epic. I will try some of these. The person doing it is really skilled. There are some lifts with some right weird drop key where I can't open it, but the door is just a GAL. I will try tieing some string to the door bar and pull it upwards.
Please understand this video was intended for elevator rescues only. not for elevator surfing outside of Inspection Mode. Inspection mode shall be utilized when riding atop elevator car.
No sure how you got this video because it's suppose to be unlisted. This video is meant for fire fighters and it's just a quick intro to the amazing picks developed to get into an elevator shaft and make a rescue. The alternative to picking a door is blowing then with airbags and you and I both know that's going to cost the building owner thousands of dollars in repairs let alone put the elevator out of service for weeks even months. So think about what this information can do to keep these elevators intact and safely rescue someone in need. As the fire department. We don't have 30min to an 1hr or longer to wait for and elevator mechanic to arrive on scene only to tell us it can't be picked. So again this video was only given to a certain group. It shouldn't be public. Hopefully we can all be on the same page.
why is the US so weird about elevators. In europe there is a release key mechansim on every single floor. This makes it a lot more easy to get into the shaft or to free trapped passengers
@@LiftsInGermany unfortunately here in California (USA) there is no "Drop Key" like other states have to pick the doors. So with our picks we can open any elevator with no damage.
This is awesome. Would save our crew so much time waiting for an elevator tech to show up on some of our calls when the reset doesn’t work. You would happen to have the dimension on some of these picks by chance?
This video came to me in a fever dream many years ago. After much searching, I finally found the original! Very cool!

Great resource. Used it this weekend to open an elevator with the keys locked inside. Worked like a charm.

But it is more fun in normal mode. Inspection mode is so slow.
@@benolifts How right you are ;D
@@benolifts Are you stupid? Someone can get hurt
@@hemlock999 he is a rebel.
Very clever, but it looks very, very tricky to aim rod in just the right position and angle to unlock the door.
It just takes a little practice and you can nail it every time. The key is to identify the type and make of elevator and choose the correct pick.

@@ttuzz hey man this video should not be available to the pubic.. I’m local 8 out of the SF.
Thanks very much!
There is a lot to learn from this video.
Those doors need modding for key holes
Keyholes are illegal in California to prevent people from riding on top of the elevator car.
@@elevatorsbylexi lmao how tf y’all open the doors then? Don’t tell me it’s just like this video…
WTF. Why ,would you show how that
