best cs was cs 1.5 you cold not hack it :D when 1.6 came hacks came up and then the bane of hakers came the VAG guard that will instantly ban your name and IP!

You're absolutely no idea lol, as someone who has had over 20 years with that game and with extensive knowledge of cheats and even ability to modify some of them 1.5v basically was a wild west with zero protection from Valve side and pretty much every server required download some kind of small anti-chit *guard tool* from their websites in order to join, so it was usual procedure to copy web address from console whenever you'd get kicked upon trying to join, download it, set it up and rejoin. Most of them didn't help either and was very slight protection from basic rookies trying to run older cheats. Only with the 1.6v was introduced *VAG* which was still absolute nothing to stop any of that cheating. I actually hated this new version at first due to many reasons, especially how restrictive it became to use *AWP* and introduced sec cooldown on switch, so you had properly time your movement/shooting and so I spent several following years on 1.5 until most servers died out and thus forcing me to the 1.6v which wasn't that bad as I see it now. As one of the last people to migrate to newer version, even 15 years later whenever I'm buying *awp* I have this permanent click in my brain not to use 4-5 which was an old menu buy order for magnum and with introduction of 1.6 they changed it to 4-6 and occasionally would buy wrong weapon thus ruining all my preset plans for that given round.
