  • Gurglers are a great fly for top water fishing. They are similar to poppers in that they do spit water. But I find them easier to tie, and seem to give an even more incredible action than just simple poppers. They are probably my go to for top water fishing around where I live. And the bass love them. Tied in smaller sizes, they can be great for sunfish as well. And of course they make great saltwater flies for speckled trout and any other fish that hits top water.

What color(s) would you use for salt water? I liked the video and will tie some for bass. And maybe some for salt water. Thanks.

Oh that depends on where. I mean chartreuse could work also. But I mean it just depends on the conditions, and what your fishing for/where etc. lots of variables

Top water is tough to beat for fun.
Do you ever tie those up weedless and fish them like conventional hollow body scum frogs?

I’ve not tied these particular ones up weedless but I do tie some poppers weedless. Luckily where I live there isn’t much to need weedless for.

I especially prefer gurglers over poppers when fishing for European Seabass, what Americans know as Branzino.
