so seriously you show a tip on one thing and it's an instant slamming track. Just release the album on Om records. And yeah Life is changin' Cricco would know.
Yeah but that’s spanking the pot on the control knob ouch, just assign the filter to velocity or have the same sample in 10 or so keygroups each with different filter value ? Not varying over the length of playback i spose
Yeah, it's great to see someone else discover this trick, but you really need to take care of that control knob, they're getting old and twisting them constantly is really going to wear them out!
Could sample the S900 knob as a sort of guiro sound :) What’s your thoughts on the Alesis 3630? I know people who think it’s a secret weapon but I also know people who think it’s the worst compressor ever
You should consider the Alesis 3630 more like a colourful effect than a compressor, the compression is not subtle at all on it, if you like punchy and dirty drums (90’s house sound) it’s really good. Also for sidechain that’s exactly the one you need!
You’ve done it again Martin :o will have to try this out on the 2000xl. Now you’ve got me thinking..could you make a dummy track and fill the sequence with the sample at 32nd triplets note repeat and then set the velocity of the track down to 1? Then play the sample on top, set as poly of course. I imagine there would be noticeable stepping at lower bpm, but higher bpm = higher resolution, could be interesting. Will try it out tonight
The filter in de S900 is sensitive to aftertouch. Just assign a wheel or knob on a Midi controller to aftertouch, et voila ! Done. Now send me money :)
Usually end up dancing for a solid 80 percent of each video, love the insight and the jams as always.
Great stuff. Think I saw as vid of Ian Pooley rinsing this same technique on one of these old Akai filters. Lovely sounds ❤
The jog wheel almost sounds like a maracas that's in tune at times and it's awesome 💖
Your music is excellent, always has been. Thanks!
Always great to see another video from you. This was a v cool trick. Sold a broken S900 for parts once - wish I’d persevered!
did it have a strange sticker on the front ?
@@jonesconrad1 Very possibly. Strange how?

Focusrite compounder or Fatman1 by TL Audio are better
Thanks 😊
I can swear I heard it in a Derrick Carter set.
