i just keep everything in metric, most jets are stamped with a number such as 100,120,140, etc. these are generally converted by moving the decimal point in front of this number and valuing it in millimeters. so a 120 jet uses a .120mm pilot hole and the next size up would be .125mm. almost nothing is made to SAE standards anymore, so keeping this in british units is just making your life more difficult. i use a caliper to size my drill bits directly to millimeters and just bypass the standards.

Can you answer a question on Carburetor Jet sizing. I have a 2-cycle Suzuki engine with a Mikuni Carburetor. The factory says the Jet is a #75 yet my Carb came with a #72.5. Is the hole in the jet larger on a #75 versus jet labeled #72.5? Being a 2-cycle, I do not want to run it too lean and starve it of fuel/oil as well as cause excessive heat. Thanks and thanks for the video.

Thanks for the comment. Mikuni kinda uses a different numbering system. Their 72.5 is the same as a Keihin 75. Both are .027 (27 thousandths of an inch). Mikuni put the correct jet in their carb. If you wanted to try to modify it just go up a little at a time. Best way is to simply buy the jets you are looking for.

I know nothing about jetting but If you have a two stroke and have jets that are too big can you compensate by making the fuel very rich as it would decrease the viscosity of the fuel therefore making it harder for the engine to pull the fuel through? Thats what I've been looking at as apparently more oil makes more power and increases the lifespan of the engine because of more oil

Thanks for the comment. Hoping someone else will also answer you here because I'm not sure anout that answer

You could technically increase your oil to gas ratio which would LEAN the engine because the fuel to air ratio is now less (the difference being replaced by oil). BUT you will be dealing with a lot of extra oil fouling up plugs and exhaust and making a mess. The engine will be lubricated well, but if you're too lean, you could still damage things. You definitely will lose power vs having the proper jetting. You would have the MOST power with no oil at all... until the piston melts in 30 seconds ha.
Hope you found a good solution! It would be MUCH easier to mess with jets than mixture.

@@ClumsyToast I've seen it done properly it makes more power lubricates much better but doesn't foul plugs or spit unburnt oil I'll link the video

@@dietznutz1 oooh, a good video! I certainly wonder how much things have changed from that 70s study. I'm confident there's a current one. My bike recommends 1:40 to 1:60, I imagine the power curve is not linear through all of the ratios.
Either way though, jet it correctly haha.

I mean honestly why tf would you order drill bits instead of new fuckin jets

Mechanics fix things..parts changers go by pure luck..and why do you have to use such filthy language..what do you prove by that
