Helmet Mounted Thermal: How to set up iRay RH25 and PVS-14

- This video attempts to demonstrate one way to set up a bridge to run helmet mounted thermal (HMT) and night vision together. It covers several ways to achieve proper standoff and interpupillary distances running the thermal on both the left eye, right eye, and both eyes. Happy to answer any questions as long as they’re not “Hey where’d you get that bridge it’s out of stock.”

KVC Obverse Shoe Set (OSS): licentiaarmsco...
iRay Rico Micro RH25 thermal: outdoorlegacyg...
TNV/PVS-14 night vision: tnvc.com/shop/...

I never knew the OSS could slide back like that. Can’t wait to try it tomorrow with proper eye relief now.
The downside of having basically no manual means not knowing what it can do. But the upside of having basically no manual means the same! Jay from SureShot blew my mind with that one. Follow him for more recipes.
I have both and I modified my thermal and PVS 14 thanks to the dovetail. I see no problems with it so far.
How are you liking this setup?should I Buy thermal or run duel Pvs
Would love to see the updated video
Did I offer to shoot an updated video? Remind me.

@@InkwellFoto Man, I got busy and completely forgot. We couldn’t get the right material for the Proto types, and I don’t have access to 3-D printed aluminum. That’s really the solution. Well, the SOLUTION is for the manufacturer to recognize the issue and actually do something about it, but here we are.
VERY helpful, thank you
LOL the cost is breathtaking. I recently bought an iRay RH-25 and PVS-14...after buying a Ops-Core FAST bump, Wilcox G24 and Wilcox J arm just to get at least a monocular up and running I'm feeling a little woozy. I think it can be done cheaper with the Wilcox SkeetIR but you'd lose the PicTail on the RH-25 and I'd like to keep the ability to toss it on the mount I got that also takes the pic tail.
No one ever said being The Predator was going to be cheap.
@@thermal_el_jackson it gets worse, I turned around and bought an RNVG-A a week after the PVS-14 😭 It’s weird, you don’t really see anything more but the brain is a lot happier walking around and everything just seems brighter. I guess I’ll just be using the RH-25 handheld with one tube flipped up or leave it on my rifle.
@@JamesReedy hating money is an American tradition. Happy Thanksgiving!
@@thermal_el_jacksondamn skippy, I can put them under the Christmas Tree (when it goes up) and feign surprise!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Is there any adjustment in the bridge for spacing for eye width? Obviously the swing out and you could change height, but I don't know if it has an adjustable stop at the bottom of the travel.
Yes. There are wheels on each side that allow the IPD to be adjusted.
Any update on the production sample to scoot the RH forward?
What are the alternatives to this unobtainium KAC bridge?
What lens cap is on the RH25? The factory cover is starting to get annoying.
Butler Creek 02A.
Is there a build list some where for this set up? More so for the mounts and bridge?
It's in the description you fcuking pinecon.
Is it disorientating when you look through both at the same time?
"Disorienting" is a better word. And it's different for everyone. My brain can handle both images.
Have u finished the 3d printed mount for rh25?
I am working with someone else to develop one now. Currently in T&E.
Does KAC even make that bridge anymore? I do believe its a mythical creature that only exists in fairy tales.
Not right now, to my knowledge. But a little birdie just flew by and suggested looking on eBay.
@@thermal_el_jackson I’m finding some knock off dual bridges for 168.00 on ebay. Is that the one you bought? And if so no issues with quality?
@@WhentheLightsgoOut I have no experience with the fake ones. You are 100% going to be kidnapped and sold into an underground jello wresting league at that price. Might be worth the risk.
@@thermal_el_jackson too good to be true and Not sure who told you about the league, but they broke the only rule..
How did the ebay bridge work out?
I have heard running a PVS 14 with a thermal can give you a headache after about 15 minutes. Is this true?
It depends on many scientific factors, but principally boils down to how much of a little bitch the end user is.
how do you run battery pack cablw when thermal is in left eye or is it even posible
You don't.
Theres an argument for the flir breach i suppose, as the breach has dovetails on 3 sides so you can orient the unit differently for different placement of the battery.
"Its not a ballistic because I'm a looser" lol as you have almost 20k on your bench that your playing with
Is the change from the MH-25 to the RH-25 noticeable?
RH image quality is measurably better, but the MH is still no slouch. If I didn’t care about the clip-on or dedicated TWS features of the RH, I’d be very happy with an MH (especially if their prices have dropped now).
Do you feel like the rh25 is a truly functional helmet mounted setup or is it more a rifle thermal?
@@scottshellenberger4721 it's an outstanding HMT. I also just climbed out of a deer stand where I was using it as a handheld monocular. I own two and that's not an accident.
Have you tried thermal on the right night vision on the left?
Yes. It works but is not as forgiving due to the incongruent nature of the optics. The housing of the PVS is more apt to bump into the thermal in that configuration. But it does work.
Do you have to collimate them
It's helpful to attempt to do so. The thermal image is presented as a smaller FOV than the I^2. I presented those findings in these slides: instagram.com/p/CgNDMwAu17Z5jC41df0cOPoZ_hXEuBHv3WWmQI0/?img_index=1
Quick question, does the thermal able to see IR laser on your firearm?
No it will not
