Scuffed Gucci loafers and how I repaired them to good as new!

  • I took some Gucci loafers that appear to have kicked the curb a few too many times but was able to repair them using some 1,000 grit sandpaper, some Saphir leather dyes and Saphir Renovatrice renovating repair cream and a little bit of cream polish. A big thank you to Steve over at Bedos Leatherworks for sending the repair cream for me to try out. It works exceptionally well. If you haven't already, check out his You Tube channel. He does some amazing repair work!

    Thanks. This is very timely as I’m going to restore some Vintage Foot Joy wing tips that are badly scuffed. Amazing results.

      Awesome! I figured someone would benefit from this. It was my first time with the repair cream so I was anxious to test it. I just needed a pair scuffed up enough...then these came in. 😁👍

    Great job bringing those Guccis back to life! We all need to make sure we get our shoes resoled or we risk scuffing the toes.

      I appreciate it and I'm becoming a big fan of toe plates. My toes wear out well before the middle of the sole.

    Great video. Thank you. Magic :) Wondering about the drying time of the different products you used.

      I generally let dyes sit for 30 mins or so before adding a new layer. About the same for that filling cream to harden. Before I recondition Inlet shoes sit overnight.

    hello, when i purchase Saphir Leather dyes... can i mix the teinture with alcochol or something to have more liquid to work??

    • @mbshoedoc
      @mbshoedoc  4 года назад +1

      Great question. You can mix with denatured alcohol from hardware store or regular rubbing alcohol or neutral dye or diluter from Angelus or Saphir. Alcohol is much cheaper but doesn't work quite as well. All will dilute the color.

    Hey Mike, please do away with the weird colored laces in the intro. It really cheapens the intro and looks really goofy besides. Keep it nice and stylish, NOT white laces in a pair of dress shoes, which looks just horrible. Thanks and please know I’m a huge fan!!!

      I'll definitely redo it. I didn't have enough video clips with the new camera but should soon now. That was a much older clip, lower quality. However I have often included colored laces on some of my patina projects. Some people love them, some, like you really can't stand them. I'll work on it sometime soon 👍.

    Are you sure those are Gucci? They sure as hell don’t look Gucci.

      "sure as hell don't look Gucci" ...Ok what exactly looks non-Gucci to you? That is what they were labelled and I didn't see any reason to question it.
