They were the best. After listening Advent Sorrow, it was hard to listen any other Black Metal artist, as all sounded the same - boring. That's one of Black Metal problems, that all sound the same, the music and singing. Rhys King was the best singer and the music, man just pure quality. Nobody even comes close.

ofcourse its emotional. Black metal is all about emotion, anger, sadness, depression and atmospheric feel. Back then i used to make fun black metal , the more i grown up the more i learning the beauty of it. Its maybe not someone cup of tea but they actually willing to explore like me thet will ended up like it.

The thing to take note of here is that black metal represents the darker side of human emotion. It's sounds *unappealing* to normal people because that's the whole point. Normal people don't want to deal with these darker aspects of themselves or others. So naturally you have this haunting and foreboding sound screaming out to you, trying desperately to be heard

Emotional BM while making a political statement too. The images of Maidan in Ukraine where the common people try to wrestle free from a corrupt and destructive government, but their attempt being thwarted by a Kleptocratic/Fascist regime from a neighboring country shows the global state of affairs for common people so well. The few that bring down the many. The despair we probably all feel at that is felt so intensely in this song. Adult BM.

  • @WakizashiSabre
    @WakizashiSabre 6 лет назад +3

This video works for me really spectacular. It is great musically. For me one of the best BM experiences from last year. Other great stuff adding intensity is because the video itself and putting pieces of it together, it works great. One part shows the destruction made by people. Other shows particular person in it. Also check the sudden change in direction of look of them at the last moment of a cut. It adds so dynamic of it. Then there are animals, who "overwatch" our destructive doing and of course Australian artists in great black metal image and with great skills - solo at the end. This is one of the BM masterpieces if seen from all aspects.

For Black metal i suggest more of a atmopherics black metal touch. Suggestions are.
Vinterland: our dawn of glory, vinterskogen or wings of sorrow. whole album of them is great.
Sacramentum: album far away from the sun. dont know a specific one
Abigor: scars in the landscape of god. again nachthymnene album is great as a whole.
Naglfar: enslave the astral fortress or as twilight gave birth to the night. vittra is their best album
    Nagelfar: Seelenland
Audn: Farvegir Fyrndar album. everything is is great. you can chose..
Thakandar: hinter dem schatten. singer is a friend of mine.
Taake: Nattestid Ser Porten Vid I.
honorable mentions are tsjuder and sargeist. its hard to tell from them.
Also for some special folk oriented music. Check Heilung: live alfadhirhaiti

You fear the cold at last?
Feel the still flaking, crooked arms.
    I’ll puke myself dry.
And such flaming light has fallen,
    from heavens to earth.
    So feel the tremble below.
    Forever.
And down below howls, so far below.
A fucking calling; hear the screaming?
With wounds stretching all the world.
    Crawling deeper through the hole.
    Writhing in fear.
    This place, brings us suffering
and I’ve become one last man,
    to heal the wounded scars.
We are fools and we are so wrong.
    Selfish, cowards. Pulling from all.
I can’t breath and wake up, no one stares up.
Calling and weeping for the stars.
    Murder, torture. Pestilence so freeing.
Call to me and sacrifice yourself
    and flee into the stars.

In my opinion, it’s the most extremely powerful BM song, cause I never experienced a song like this, were you can hear so damn clearly the internal pain and wrath against everything, which he screams out with his inner load, what had stowed together in his soul!
And the combination of song and video, builds up just a massive mesmerizing and breathtaking atmosphere!
Cause every time I watch it, I feel like I’m freezing in a intensive trance of absorption!

I've seen Obscura in the comments a few times already and you should definitely check them out some time. Also Beyond Creation is worth checking out.
If you feel like you need some more black metal, Hybrid Nightmares would be a great choice.

You have to check out "Cavalry in Thousands" by "Tengger Cavalry".
They're a band who incorporate mongolian throat singing into their songs. You heard that right, mongolian throat singing and metal. You'll love it!

Keep listening to some black metal bands. You WILL find that one that resonates with you and opening the door to new styles that you'll be ready to appreciate, much like how you said Thy Art is Murder got you to appreciate that vocal style.
    For me, this was MGLA.
Then I found and absolutely love atmospheric black folk metal bands Saor, Panopticon (banjo!), Drudkh, and Agalloch (most popular in the style).
Then I found Darkspace and Mare Cognitum (atmospheric black metal in space!)
Mare Cognitum is all done by one person which is impressive as fuck.
I find black metal to be more of a session listen than individual song listen, as they tend to transition from one to the next (i.e. beginning and end of a song being more important than the middle as typically found in other genres).

If you like black metal, you may like Ajattara. Kinda industrial vibe mixed with black metal. And yes, they are fucking awesome. And finnish. Which is basically the same thing.

advent sorrow used to be straightforward black metal but with this song they gravitate towards dsbm which is depressive suicidal black metal which feature the sorrowful vocals you hear here and depressive lyrics

Wow. This is the first reaction video to a Depressive Black Metal song I´ve seen. Maybe similar bands with an "emotional" sound may be Ghost Bath ,Grift or Psychonaut 4.
