They were the best. After listening Advent Sorrow, it was hard to listen any other Black Metal artist, as all sounded the same - boring. That's one of Black Metal problems, that all sound the same, the music and singing. Rhys King was the best singer and the music, man just pure quality. Nobody even comes close.
ofcourse its emotional. Black metal is all about emotion, anger, sadness, depression and atmospheric feel. Back then i used to make fun black metal , the more i grown up the more i learning the beauty of it. Its maybe not someone cup of tea but they actually willing to explore like me thet will ended up like it.
yea broh this band not just bring DSBM into high level but overall 95% of emotional hatred, pain, suffered n fuck to all theme blended together, seems previous genre was more happier but nowadays this band ready for razor cut, sharp knife non-stop bleeding in action!!! fuck DEAFHEAVEN!!! Hailsa to ADVENT SORROW n PIONEER TO SHINING!!
The thing to take note of here is that black metal represents the darker side of human emotion. It's sounds *unappealing* to normal people because that's the whole point. Normal people don't want to deal with these darker aspects of themselves or others. So naturally you have this haunting and foreboding sound screaming out to you, trying desperately to be heard
Old comments here but I will also recommend, Hugklofnun by Andavald. Twisted and mad! vocals at the end actually sent the vocalist to hospital. Its mentioned in one of the interviews.
This vocalist does some of the most emotional screams I've ever heard, especially if you listen to a song like "While Bones Are Broken." Songs like Insidious Memories or The Wraith In Silence have a completely different vocal style from this song though.
Emotional BM while making a political statement too. The images of Maidan in Ukraine where the common people try to wrestle free from a corrupt and destructive government, but their attempt being thwarted by a Kleptocratic/Fascist regime from a neighboring country shows the global state of affairs for common people so well. The few that bring down the many. The despair we probably all feel at that is felt so intensely in this song. Adult BM.
Thank you so much for playing this. I thought I was the only one feeling like I did after I shared it on Fart Book, lol. Not all Black Metal is the same, there's tons of stuff out there that's just genre wanna be's. I really like this song. I wish more people could be exposed to the beauty and the horror of it. May you all be well.
This just hits different in 2021. I find myself drawn to the song now, I feel it’s desperation trying to crawl out of the depression of the world. What a masterpiece
Beautiful song, and good review. It's one of my favorites, and I knew there would be no way you wouldn't like it once the emotions built up, as well as that solo.
I love this band very much, another Aussie band which will definitely stab your heart is Belakor...... In the summer of 1986 i heard Judas priest "Ram it down" for the first time and the shriek just kind of pulled me...and now after so many year Advent Sorrow did the same thing
This video works for me really spectacular. It is great musically. For me one of the best BM experiences from last year. Other great stuff adding intensity is because the video itself and putting pieces of it together, it works great. One part shows the destruction made by people. Other shows particular person in it. Also check the sudden change in direction of look of them at the last moment of a cut. It adds so dynamic of it. Then there are animals, who "overwatch" our destructive doing and of course Australian artists in great black metal image and with great skills - solo at the end. This is one of the BM masterpieces if seen from all aspects.
Their older stuff is more guttural screaming but they’ve changed to this. I’m not a BM fan but this shit is brilliant. When he screams “ we are so wrong” it’s one of the most powerful things I’ve ever heard. Lyrics are in the description click on link to their merch then click on music to buy the song it has lyrics with it. Song is even better when u can understand what he’s saying
Finally you did this one, I had recommended it to you a moment ago ^^ I was as you the first time when I heard it, I was speechless. Very beautiful song, so emotional. You absolutely got the essence of the video. Two thumbs up for the reaction.
