I think these would all make for interesting challenge levels. Let’s say there are two categories: Midas Cap and Weird Worlds. It makes sense, trust me. Midas Cap: Everything Mario touches turns to… 1-ups - Requires weighing extra lives over use of certain objects, and avoiding making direct contact with others to make the level still beatable Pipes - Use some of the properties of objects and enemies to get around in ways only possible this way Squares - Some objects benefit from this, some don’t, puzzles can be based in finding which is which and using that Gold, Luigi to ice - possible 2 player mode where the two are used in tandem (e.g. turn a block above a flame cannon to ice so it melts) Weird Worlds: Everything must be bought with Coins - Requires strategizing Coin use to get further without jeopardizing the level path as a whole How does Mario use Flowers? - Opens up opportunities for more interesting level design using Super Princess Peach style powerups (for instance, sad Mario moves slower, but his footsteps are lighter in return) ? Blocks can be hit by jumping on top of them but disappear if not - Interesting level design, but in other ways Powerups’ effects are enhanced, both positive and negative - can make for some interesting circumstances (like using the Super Mushroom for a more sustained Giant Mario (from NSMB) and the opposite for the return of the Mini Mushroom)
