Hi, real person here! Not paid, I wish I were honestly. Also not an AI. Which is like such an AI/Paid Reviewer thing to say lmao 💀
I'm sorry I made you feel insulted :( I really didn't mean to, it just genuinely felt like you werent acknowleding the point, NOT to call you stupid or insult you or anything, but because it didn't really feel like you talked about the themes or ideas, that the movie DID offer. I get that you didn't like it, and I agree with you that people are allowed to dislike and like whatever they want, I'm not trying to say you HAVE to like it.
You being a movie reviewer, it didn't feel like you were actually reviewing the movie at all, you were just talking about how it wasn't what you expected it to be, which again, is fine! Nothing wrong with that! I just don't think that it's fair to call it a BAD movie because of that. You went into this movie with a very different expectation of what it was going to be. To be honest while I was watching it, I felt the same way! I was hoping there'd be a lot of action going on, but I don't think it was a bad thing thay there wasn't a lot of action, it was like Godzilla Minus One, I was hoping we'd get a lot of Godzilla, but we didn't get as much as we'd hoped, but that wasn't BAD because that made the moments we DID get a lot more impactful. Civil War felt a lot like that for me.
So, I'm really sorry I made you feel insulted :( But what I was TRYING to say by saying "I think you missed the point 🤨" was that in your video you never really acknowledged the themes of the actual movie, you really just criticized that it didn't have enough action in it. Which is why I was telling other people that if they wanted more action go watch Marvel! I LOVE Marvel movies they have a lot of good (And a lot of bad) movies. But I think we just went into this with very different expectations of what war is. When I heard that it was called Civil War, I didn't really expect or necessarily want an obvious good-side vs. bad-side conflict,(not to say that that IS what YOU expected) I did hope that no one would be a "hero," so I just think that we went into this movie with very different expectations of what it was going to be. And the marketing didn't personally make me think that it wasn't gonna have as many slower moments as it did. I kind of expected that. Especially since it's an A24 movie and they have smaller budgets.
So, again I don't think you HAVE to like this movie or that you are dumb for not liking it, I really am genuinely sorry I made you feel that way :(. I just don't think that it's fair for you to call it a bad movie because it wasn't what you expected it to be, I don't think you're personally attacking me or anything and I'm sorry that I made you feel bad. But I just think it would've been more fair for you to review the movie you DID watch, and tell people, "IF you are expecting an action packed fun movie, this isn't it don't go watch it, but what I did watch was pretty cool for these reasons, and not so good for these reasons!"
Again, I'm sorry :(
Hi 👋😃 and it's ok.
I get where you're coming from, and I think I initially thought I mentioned specific aspects of the movie, but upon reflection, I realized I didn't highlight those elements as much as was needed, except for the scene with the red glasses guy.
Feeling baited and switched really soured my whole experience of the movie. I'm not a professional movie critic, just someone who shares my honest opinions based on my personal experiences.
While I do respect and value your perspective, it doesn't change how I feel about the movie. I'm sorry if that disappoints you. 😞
It's true that not everyone will see it as a bad movie, but for me, it just didn't... Hit that mark. It felt slow-paced and lacking direction at times.
There was too much unnecessary filler that could have been better utilized to develop the characters or put them in more engaging situations, which would have made the civil war theme more impactful to the viewers.
Although tension was well-executed in some scenes, it didn't seem to pay off for me personally. It felt like there were significant cuts made, yet the movie still dragged with too many irrelevant scenes and filler.
Even after mulling it over for a few days, the movie still feels half done to me. It could just be that it's not my cup of tea. While I understand there's a niche audience for that style, I am not that audience.
I do appreciate your perspective and your kind efforts to show me different angles of the film, though.
I also appreciate you responding to me in a civil manner and if I knew you in real life, and you approached me in the way you just did and said, "Ali, let's go see the movie again together. Give it a chance," I would do that with you.
Your kindness makes me want to.... But not for a while though 😅

Truck-kun is a japanese anime trope where whenever a person is hit/killed by a truck that person will be reincarnated in another world.

I think the first itteration of Truck-Kun is from that clip of a school girl leaving her house and as soon as she exit the gates, she gets hit by a truck

@quikgold513 sound like a paid dlc they would do
If you want to make a civil war movie to deter people from having one, you need to focus on the regular people who didn't even want the war, not journalists. Show flashback to when life wasn't chaotic and then cut to the destruction. Show people smiling at a family dinner, then cut to them rationing their food while gunfire is happening in the background. A movie like this can be done, but they didn't try hard enough and focused on the wrong thing. This movie needed the Saving Private Ryan treatment.
They WANT one. The same ppl that would fall into despair the moment the power is cut & would slob the know of anyone who turned it back on.
I agree, but I think having journalists as the main character allows them to traverse through different parts of society. An average person isn't going to be going outside of their town.
@GoldenTV3 True, but that could be fixed by having us follow multiple people. Have a journalist, a politician, and a family on each side so we get to see all the different perspectives. Kind of like how Mars Attacks had us following multiple parties. Weird comparison, I know, but I liked how that movie did it. 😅
@@GoldenTV3Okay, why is that important for this as opposed to focusing on the people it effects?
@@addison_v_ertisement1678because a modern day Civil War in the US would be a huge deal. And if you want it to be impressive, it should explore different perspectives and sides
Why would they take the time to understand your perspective or watch your video when they already made up their mind seconds before clicking your video. It's also cringe when someone disagree with another person their only comeback is "cope" "cry about it", Insulting someone is the internet/twitters first instinct when someone doesn't agree with them. It's like people thinking they know everything about you based on a take or something you said the other person didn't like.
Glad you're not backing down on your issues with the film.
Thanks Achieme. And you know... the unfortunate thing is that I am willing to sit down and debate with someone or discuss things with them, but it's clear from most of the comments, providing that they're not actually AI or paid alt accounts, that they didn't even watch the video.
They will just leave comments based on the transcript that they took two seconds to look at, what other people are saying in the comments, the title, or the first few seconds of the video. The reason I know this is because they will have issues with things that directly contradict what I mention and reiterate constantly in my video.
At what point do I just write those people off and not even bother discussing? I feel like that's a last resort, though, because I don't like shutting down conversation. My husband always tells me conversing with those who have already dismissed me as someone they don't respect or wish to hear from is a waste of my time.
However, if everybody adopts this mindset, then _nobody_ will ever speak to each other ever again about anything. I have to at least TRY.
Is discussing things with other human beings such an ancient art now? It was only about 7 years ago that we were talking with each other. Now you don't even know if the person with whom you're speaking is an actual human being that actually cares about speaking with you.
How can we have one of the greatest technologies alive in our lifetime that allows us to discuss things with people from all over the globe, and yet we are so far from each other?
When I watched the trailer my first assumption when it came to Red Glasses Guy was that he was asking whether they were Western Alliance Americans or this New Age Presidents Americans. IE I thought he was asking what side they were on, not whether they demographically were born IN America.
Same
Same here
Exactly, i thought it was like pick a side
Nope it was the all white ppl are inherently evil and given the chance kill minorities for no reason trope. Kind of like the Texas purge movie.
Absolutely. During a civil war, you have a man apparently running some sort of checkpoint. He is stopping people and asking "what kind of American" they are. He is clearly asking what side of the war they are on.
We've seen this more and more from movie studios. The trailer isnt just vague, they actively lie about what the movie is about.
To be fair. The studio was A24. That's what they do. Should have been expected.
I know not everyone pays attention to studios. But look up their other movies and you will go. "Oh"

Its weird nowadays how people cant just say "I liked/disliked this and this is why" without total strangers treating it like you having a different opinion is some kind of personal attack. Honestly a difference of opinion over TV shows, movies, books, games etc is beyond TRIVIAL.
it's an offshoot of the "everything is political" kind of thinking, plus obviously lots of bots
True. Like how disliking the Barbie movie led to breakups 🙄
We are becoming more tribalistic. It’s been like this since 2012
Not even that, people just can't handle someone saying "this is bad, and here's proof." They just say "Nuh uh!" and act like they obliterated someone's argument.
This is WHY the Socialist/Leftist Cult is so dangerous. They base everything on irrational, unreasonable, illogical, easily manipulated feelings and emotions. Differing opinions (and sometimes Reality itself) shatter the delusions they've been lead to believe, thus they resort to immature attacks and throwing temper-tantrums like spoiled brats. They have no discipline, no patience, and no evidence to back up their side. They are the ones who truly need to be deprogrammed.

Salted caramel is best
The mindset of people to support a party no matter what is disturbing.
Which is precisely why I've _never_ trusted reviews, even legitimate ones (in contradistinction to the fake ones.) I've always much preferred to see a given movie and then form my own opinion on it.
Alteori. As someone who has dived into this, and even worked WITH such companies let me give you a clue in to who is making these comments. the TL;DR is, they are marketing companies. The longer answer is, they are marketing companies that are engaging in a very specific type of marketing that is done when the movie/show/book, etc is of mediocre quality. And that is "Reputation Repair". And interestingly, a lot of people recognize the "shill" side rather easy, but did you know that the "rage" side is also them?
I will give you a perfect example, Ghostbusters 2016. All of the "toxic haters" or at least the one's that were so egregious that their aggression seemingly came out of no where, they are part of the marketing team. What production studios have recognized, is that if you want a movie on people's lips and when it's own quality isn't the draw, they try to save it by purposefully initiating some "conflict or controversy." They astroturf both sides, and eventually you attract people that take one side or the other. But the origin of it is VERY MUCH artificial. The "shill" side is of course rather obvious, as you are pointing out here, they "love" the movie and don't acknowledge it's faults, the shills are also the one's that make the "if you don't like this movie you're an ist/phobe/supremacist/etc." Ok,so that one's the easy part. The "haters" are the ones that play into what the shills serve up as the "or else" side of the equation. "The haters" embody the ist/phobe/supremacist side of it. This is done in coordination with the agreed upon "Narrative" that was created in the pitch call/meeting. This is why the "haters" fit the concerns of the "shills" so effortlessly. You never have the shills claiming say racism, but the haters talk nothing of race but where the movie was made in a "it should be made in America" rant. Meaning the haters are NEVER off track from the Shill's set narrative.
The reason this, Shill and Hater combined effort is done, is for two specific and important reasons:
A) to create a undesirable "other", to act as the stick, to encourage anyone on the fence to not join the people who don't like the movie IE. "Wait, you aren't agreeing with those ists/phobes/supremacists are you?" So basically to discourage people from taking a standpoint or voicing their opinion on negative aspects of the movie, IE it was mediocre, the writing was bad, etc.
B) To create the group association and "guilt by association" of the astroturfed "ists/phobes/supremacists" and group the people who have legitimate gripes with a production. IE the writing was bad, the effects were mediocre. etc etc.
In other words the end goal, is to purposefully derail and distract anyone coming into this situation from looking at the legitimate criticisms of a production, to try and bury the legitimate criticism in with all the "noise" of the name calling, slurs, generic untargetted hate, rage, etc. So it lowers the likelihood that a person literally won't find the legit criticism. and secondly, if they DO find that criticism, because it's been paired with all that I previously mentioned, it causes said neutral person to be much more likely to dismiss the legitimate criticism out of hand and in entirety, dismissing it as "well they are ists and phobes, what do they know".
The Hollywood media further helps this, by of course highlighting the conveniently most inflammatory and often outright most offensive statements because of course, they are "Rage farming" on their own, and interestingly, they don't need to be "in" on this for them to be useful idiots. However I know from these companies they do know and often do call their "friends" in the media to focus on certain things. Because generally all these people, the media and the marketers all have communications and business degrees and often went to the same colleges, so they know each other.
So understand and notice Alt, notice how every time there is a controversy about movies like this, notice what doesn't get talked about, in fact buried. And that's all the talk of the legitimate criticism of the movie production. Because "THEY" don't want to have that conversation, and explain why they keep producing crap after crap.
BONUS: Also, the answer to why they produce crap after crap, it's a form of embezzlement and money laundering. See when productions do poorly, the studios can claim the losses on their taxes and basically pocket the money from their more successful projects. Basically it's the plot of the classic Broadway musical "The Producers", and yeah, it's real, it does happen and often.
Hmmmmmm.... almost like the people making viruses and then making the anti-virus software. That's actually brilliant lol. Wow. Damn
@@Alteori Ty for sparing me from this bait and switch movie....for real...
Very enlightening, thank you for taking the time to write all this down. I think an awesome thing to happen would be if more people called out these marketing company infiltrators for what they are the second they start trying to derail a normal discussion.
I feel like this is a short term strategy they tried too many times. Can work once or twice but people just get burned out of online fighting and stop caring. I feel like nowadays there is more online fight bot on bot than human on human. People just stopped giving a s*** about bad movies and move on with their lives.
@@Alteori makes sense as to why they would go after youtubers. youtube is the only real place to get an honest review from an actual person anymore, and they dont like that. They dont like that us pleebs have a voice, and are using youtube to speak out on our distaste in their beloved industry. I'm no conspiracy theorist, but i feel like this mentality that the industry has developed is solely to try and turn us normal civies into good, obedient consumers that will gladly gobble down shit. They are going to berate, argue and attack us until we sit on our knees with our mouths wide open. They have all the time and money in the world to keep this pace up, its only a matter of time before people start to adopt the mentality and attitude they want. much like selective breeding, they are trying to pave a way for selective consumer behavior. You are spot on. There are more than a few movies where the marketing, the trailers, sell them as one thing - action packed, or very funny and lighthearted, etc - when they definitely are NOT. My theory is that opening weekend revenue means so much that even though the approach almost guarantees negative word of mouth, the studios don't care, because they have gotten that opening weekend bump. And I say that because a lot of these movies aren't bad, they'd be just fine for someone looking for that kind of movie -- but when you are set up for one thing, and given another, your reaction is almost always going to be strongly negative. And they have to know that. But by then - they have your money!

Honesty up front, i haven't seen the movie yet. Based on the trailers I assumed it would be about political tension and succession from the union with joe public caught in the middle which I thought would be an interesting story. However, it seems that is just set dressing for the story of a couple of journalists travelling the country. Given the disingenuous, embarrassing state of journalism cross the board these days, why would I care about their "hardships"? To me, it seems that the misfire here is two fold 1) misleading trailers, and 2) vapid protagonists
I thought i was the only one feeling people getting paid to shill
Unfortunately with today, people have lost the ability to seperate subjective opinion & subjective art form due to having been conditioned to seek validation from others. And alot of people will look at it thru the lens of black and white, Us vs them , good vs evil. Instead of using objectivity.
In le mans terms, certain people will attach their identity to a film because it speaks to them ( values, ideas, character, judgement, moral code ) and when that disagreement occurs, they get frazzled because of that invalidation. Lord knows why they cant find it elsewhere 🤷♀️🤷🏼
War ,war never changes
Never compared Fallout lore against this atrocity of a movie!!*
Great video as usual, just sad that humanity seems to be regressing not progressing now.
“But you just don’t get it man.”
What was there to get? Please tell me, I’m listening. ☕️
…well?
“Reeeeeeeeeeeee😡”
This movie is lame as shit😂😂
It’s pretty simple. People are supporting it because the leftist outrage mob is livid that the movie isn’t far left
The general point is that war is bad and a civil war should be avoided if possible. There are other points too like "fascism is bad", but this movie is about how harsh war is in general.
@@actualnotanewbie they didn’t do a good job at that. It looks more like a fantasy setting than actual fantasy stories.
@@dizzyizzy7403 which part looked like a fantasy setting? There is one part I might agree with you, but which one are you talking about?
What I find the most annoying is people saying oh you’re not smart you don’t understand the movie
Just think about this why would anyone risk their lives to go and interview a president? Yes I know there is a war but what was the explanation of the war renders this interview such importance?
This is what made the movie whacked
Are you serious? For a journalist, interviewing a president or leader of this magnitude is probably one of the highest things they could do. The movie said he hadn't given an interview in over what a year? And yes, trying to get some answers on why he did what he did would be a huge story.
Considering there would be no way in hell the president would still be in the white house. This movie was made by an individual who clearly did zero research outside of very biased sources and knows absolutely nothing about how American systems work
Just think about this why would anyone risk their lives to go and do any dangerous job? Well it may surprise you but money and fame
@@arcsphere How many journalists do you see immigrated to Russia to interview Putin today? Because this is basically the same scenario. The president in this film was no time planning to recieve the journalists. As I recall they made it clear that journalist were getting shot at the capitol.
Godzilla x Kong a new empire was better than civil war by far
lol its kinda funny when you cant tell if thats a good thing or a bad thing
No joke. I despised Sicario the first time I watched it because of the trailers. I was expecting a fast-paced action-thriller film, and I got a movie that, upon first viewing, felt pointless and boring. It was after doing extensive research as to why people liked it that got me back into rewatching the whole film from a new lens. And it's now one of my personal favorite films to this day.
So, yeah. Haven't seen Civil War (honestly don't plan to since I'm just generally disinterested), and I absolutely find your take quite relatable. Too many films and other media in general marketed in such weird, manipulative ways. Reminds me when The Last of Us Part II had entire scenes in the trailer show that Joel would be alive with Ellie on her journey of revenge.
Also, I'm a digital illustrator by trade, and I agree that art can be critiqued and understood from an objective standpoint. Just because there's a subjective aspect to art doesn't mean people aren't allowed to judge a product accordingly.
Lol, the mid-vid ad that came up was a commercial for 1-800-JUNK and it took me a minute to realize it wasn't actually part of your video. Perfect ad placement 😂.
🤔 We need an Alteori avatar equipped with riot gear.
Love how many of those comments don't make any actual arguments or rebuttals.
I wasn't hopeful for Civil War in the slightest. Alex Garland had some pretty kino movies directed under his belt but then the last movie he directed "Men" was one of thee most pretentious convoluted diarrhea splats I have ever seen. Big oof.
this is like, the 4th video of yours I've watched in as many days. And all I've got to say is this: you seem like one of the most reasonable, original people out here making videos. Your takes are based, but not ridiculous. It's common sense, you take things from a perfectly reasonable position, and ask perfectly reasonable follow-ups in a world that seems to have gone insane. I hope you keep making videos like this, and keep sharing your opinions and views.
I appreciate that a lot Alpha. I always strive to be honest. I'm sorry these specific videos were a little intense 😅😅 I'm still sour after wasting my money lol
"You colorless flower petal!" is an awesome insult. It made me laugh out loud when I read it. Good for you.
😂
Alteori realy reads the comments, so besides waving at her i want to say: I like turtles!!
Truck-kun is an anime antagonist that usually leads to being reincarnated to another world.
There's a manga about Truck-kun, and how he has to hustle to meet his quotas for isekai.
Your “touch the grass/grow your own grass” bit was very funny to me! 🤣🤣
But yeah, I agree with you, people need to stop attacking others for not liking what they like. For example, I love the Godzilla Anime Trilogy, I enjoy the cast and while yes it doesn’t give us much for monster action, I still enjoy what it is, but I know many people don’t like it, heck, there’s parts I don’t like because it’s depressing (mainly the ending of part 2, if you know, you know what I’m referring too). And I respect those that don’t like it, because I know the issues, but I won’t attack anyone because of hating it.
It’s just sad to see people attack other people for giving or saying their opinions on something, I’ve seen this with movies, comics, video games, and more. I had a friend once who got mad at me for writing a bad review on Star Wars the Last Jedi when it first came out, and he pretty much called me stupid and wrong for hating it, saying “a true Star Wars fan would love it”, which I replied “just because I didn’t like one movie that means I’m not a fan?” And it was extremely hurtful. I think he only defended the sequel trilogy because he’s very into movies with “hot” female leads. And he’ll ignore the issues that movie has. Like I remember him hating on a movie (I don’t remember what it was) and when I asked why he did, it was because it didn’t have enough girls, or something like that. Another example with my ex-friend was when I said I enjoyed Moana more than Frozen, he lost his head and said “how dare yo say that’s better than frozen” which I replied “because I like Moana and Maui more and the warm colors are amazing”, yeh he didn’t like that. Apparently I’m an idiot for not liking the movie with two “hot sisters”.
Sorry for the rant, I just really hate when people verbally attack others for not liking what they like, it’s mean and hurtful. Anyways, have a great day and thanks for a funny touch grass joke 🤣🤣
I work at a Cinema i can tell you, if the theater wasn't empty, it had folks walking out confused and upset.
Stay strong alti! Don't back down we're all at your side
stop.
Kudos to Kirsten Dunst for aging naturally and not pumping her face full of botox or getting a facelift.
Your videos are awesome.. always.
And your opinion can't be a bad review objectively that's not how it works..
We all see things differently, there is no need to insult whether I agree or disagree, Also it was a very interesting move to bring out this movie right before an election. Interesting to say the least, and journalists should be scared the amount of lies they spew and how they put their own internal bias into what should be a straightforward story with facts that never change depending on your political leaning, that's what I was always taught anyway, what a journalist should be.
I think ya take on the movie is pretty much spot on its a driving simulator at best lol and they are probably just bot comments that you shown..
Thnx Alteori...❤
This video is hilarious!!! Great work!!! Definitely subbed.
As the great profit Billy Joel said, “Honesty is such a lonely word, everyone is so untrue…”
Alteori playing RedDead 2 for the horses AND NOT IN A SEXUAL WAY. She probably cried more for the horse in the last mission than Arthur.
Not saying she's wrong...
Without having seen the movie, but seeing many reactions to it. My assumption is that Civil War is a movie made as propaganda to try and protect journalists from reprisal during future political upheval by presenting them as independent observers without agenda reporting what they see. When EVERYONE KNOWS journalists are ideologically captured by the current regime throughout the west and when that regime inevitably crumbles the people most oppressed by it will seek restorative justice against those who operated and propped up the regime. What do the Covington Kids, Kyle Rittenhouse and that 8 year old Chiefs Fan have in common? Journalists trying to ruin their lives, they also have something else in common, they're a particular demographic journalists and the regime seem to despise, on a level not seen since the Socialist Workers party of Germany circa 1930 had for another particular demographic.
Greatly said!
Nailed it. 💯
Loved reading that last sentence.
I'm glad other people are seeing the similarities between then and now.
There are 2 other times when "the media" did similar things... particularly against an *occupation*. Peasant farmers.
Both had similarly bad outcomes, like the one hinted at by the OP in his last sentence.
There were even 2 more similar events, which took place at the same time... 1940-1945... and that's 5 times from the last 100 years.
If you want to know more, ask.
Friendly reminder that journalists are as bad if not worse than politicians
Tbh, when you mentioned that acting was an art form and people can be bad at it, I was expecting Cool Cat saying: "I'm Cool Cat! And I love ALL kids!"
Because Cool Cat is actually far worse than the Room. Lol
Oh shit, I swear Alteori should be a private investigator! She had an instinct, investigated, & found and brought the evidence to present to the jury 😂. I absolutely love her analytical skills 😍
If they had called the film "The Journalists" no one would have gone to see it.
i have read 100 dystopian novels just like this, they're a dime a dozen. usually some kind of EMP hits, or some virus kills off a big portion of the population. or that kinda thing. this movie is nothing special if you read young adult near future sci-fi and dystopian stuff... they made a ton of these kinds of movies in the 70's and 80s, the first mad max movie is a good one, not as big of a budget is all.
I saw a new movie yesterday called “Late Night With The Devil”, it was actually really good.
I love that you're not afraid to put these idiots on blast. I don't want to hear anything about punching down, if you write crap like that under someone's video or post, you're putting yourself out there. People need to experience consequences.
The red glasses guy made me think maybe this movie was gonna be a FarCry style satire. With over the top characters on both sides of the conflict with the main characters being the neutral/straight man.
I would like to say thank you for your review of Civil War Alteori, I'm not going to waste my time and money with this movie. Also my birthday will be coming soon on the 18th of April, so a few of the movies that I bought are The Maltese Falcon (1941) with Humphrey Bogart, Sunset Boulevard, Pandora's Box (1929) with Louise Brooks and the WW2 cartoon shorts Private SNAFU the golden classics.
Anything with Humphrey Bogart is always a great watch.
@@internetzenmaster8952 Indeed mate, I love Casablanca and my mother is a huge fan of him. I've always had a fascination for things that were made before I was born such as books, movies, music and other things. And I'm always looking to add things to my collection.
You'd be shocked at how rampant these bot comments are on RUclips..
Alteori pausing her review of a movie called Civil War to apologize for the gunshots heard in the background as a result of her neighbor target practicing on his land is the most meta thing ever.
We're allowed to like and dislike things? To form an opinion? Wooooow, I never thought I would ever hear such things be uttered.
So with two hostile states between them California and Texas are allies? If this is the case where do Arizona and New Mexico stand.
Why would they be allies politically California and Texas are miles apart.
An alliance between Texas, Louisiana and Florida would make more sense.
Lastly what part of the military is loyal to the President as California and Texas have a number of major Military bases?
No idea lol. They barely delved into ANY of that context, which would have been ok if they'd compensated with substance that matched what they advertised in the trailer.
The real question is why would ANYONE ally with California?
@@thegloryofromeiseternal Washington State and Oregon maybe? Was trying to just stay in context of this movie.
Not to mention Texas and California and so completely opposite that they would never be allies in the first place.
@@thegloryofromeiseternal I can think of a number of states that would, but Texas is not one of them
I feel the same way about The Boy movie, it marketed itself as a supernatural horror/thriller and when it turned out to just be a crazy guy, i lost all interest
You must've liked the sequel, then.
I love your work. You are a part of a small group of honest reviewers that I rely on before seeing a movie. Your work is awesome.
I appreciate that, but I still encourage you to go explore things despite what I say. You may find that you end up liking a movie that I don't and I wouldn't want you to miss out on that. After comprehending how flawed this movie is. ...
I won't waste my money on it. ...

Now, I will address, the underlying problem with
current HOLLYWOOD. ...
The industry heads have lost sight of what
HOLLYWOOD'S original purpose was. ...
... That is, to tell a good / entertaining story.
... Also, to make a PROFIT during the process.
The HEADS of the STUDIOS have lost sight
of this BUSINESS CANNON. ...
Hollywood no longer entertains. ...
Hollywood is now trying to INDOCTRINATE. ...
Americans and others are simply rejecting
this failed IDEOLOGY. ...
... That's why this American Industry
(Movie Making)
will collapse in the next eighteen months.
I hope something better will rise from the ashes.
...
If they were alive. ...
I wonder what Rodger Ebert and Jean Siskel
would think about all this INDOCTRINATION SHIT.
I agree, majority of the old school stars are settling for b or c role movies
Gene Siskel. That is all.
Good review A, total thumbs up on your take.
Well said 👍 the few times I do watch a review before watching a movie, I don't look at the comments, bc I know none of the comment posters as well as I am familiar with the video content creator, plus none of the comment posters has such a long story, with as many arguments about *_why_* a movie is worthy or unworthy of my time, as the video content creator has
I was vaguely interested, but then I learned they don't take a stance on the conflict in the movie or even share what caused the war. Like, if you're going to make such a blatantly political movie, actually be political about it. You can't try to be apolitical when your story is inherently political
Fun fact: The developer is British. That’s all you need to know for this movie.
I'm so confused. What is a "developer" in this context? What does nationality reveal?
…..okay I might need to know some more things. I mean what does nationality have to do with making a movie set in modern/near future America? Is it because they might get mannerisms wrong or over exaggerate things?
I see “well the developer/director is _{insert nationality here that isn’t from the area the movie is set}_ and that’s all you need it know” comments on a lot of (admittedly kinda cheesy or meh) movies and I really have trouble wrapping my head around that reasoning. I don’t mean to sound mean or rude either, I just am legitimately curious as to how people come to that kind of reasoning.
I was quite upset when i foundout he was British and especially what he had to say about America, garland needs to fkn mind his business and worry about that shitehole UK
@@drunkdogwithagun468 I think he mean being made by non-american, that only know about American politics via media make the movie definitely biased toward mainstream media view of America, not the real life America situation.

Alteori, you are one of the few reviewers I trust for this sort of thing. Your tastes and mine seem to be pretty on par with each other. Honestly, I didn't watch this movie, and it is because of your review. Between work and family, I don't have time to watch a bunch of movies, so I'm grateful for your reviews. I did, however, enjoy Godzilla X Kong, only because I just wanted to see giant monsters smacking each other around, and that's what I got. Was not wanting to see nor expecting to see an Academy Award film. Same reason I enjoy the Transformers movies. Big robots punching each other. Show me that, and I'm happy. Then you've got Godzilla -1, and holy cow, THAT was an amazing MOVIE, not just a good Godzilla movie. And again, your reviews on that were dead-on right. Keep doing what you do. You are appreciated.
I'm glad I saved you money. Just remember, even if our tastes overlap there might be times when we disagree on what we like and that's okay. 😊
I don't usually tell people not to go watch a movie and I usually instruct them to make up their own mind, however, deceiving the audience rubbed me the wrong way lol
